Screw the dectractors. Retakers do your thing.
So what if it is a bit excessive. Boycotting DOES NOT WORK. Bad PR DOES. There are 1 million casuals who see the pretty ads and drop $60 without hesitation. EA does not care about losing 60 thousand silent protestors. You stood idly by while they pushed day 1 dlc, project $10, online pass, then finally Origin. Now you realize singleplayer IS tied to MP and you'll need that pass or more DLC to get enough assets to see all the content you paid for. You'll be in for a rude awakening when EA shuts down the servers in 2 years like they do for the rest of their online catalog.
Give them and inch, and they'll take a mile. You let them get away with kasumi/zaeed in ME2 and now half the game is autodialogue and overheard fetch quests. You gobbled up the preorder exclusives and they come back with even more preorder exclusives and a collector's ed./ DLC CHARACTER. And they were working on this exclusive crap instead of the face import feature, Tali's face, or content for ME2 characters/romances they tossed aside. At this rate ME4 will be a 1 year title; 15 hours of set-pieces and autoconversation, with the 2nd half as DLC 3 months later.
Its one thing to forgive a bad ending. Its a whole different thing to excuse cut content, poorly thought out cinematics, and BAD WRITING. Attention to detail and standard of quality is everything. If we don't hold them accountable to that, the entire thing goes south (see DA2).
I wish somebody had done this when EA was slowly killing Wing Commander, Madden, and NBA Live. I don't even have story-based spaceflight or football videogames to play anymore because of EA. If it weren't for take-two/2k games, i wouldn't have basketball either. And the new simcity looks like its infested with microtransactions. EA is a whole different animal unlike Valve, CD Project, or even Activision. Even if it is oversaturation, at least activision gives its fans exactly what they want.
Seriously, who's gonna pick up the mantle of scifi shooter/rpg when EA has milked mass effect dry? This started as Star Trek discovery epic, devolved into Star Wars black/white underdog story, and finally settled on a mishmash of bad plot devices and an end plagiarized straight out of another game. Are you okay with this franchise making the full transition to Gears of War with a create-a-character screen?
