What exactly do you want for an ending?
I want an ending that doesn't betray everything about the series, the player, and the character.
I want an ending that doesn't introduce a brand new character in the last 5 minutes that makes no sense.
I want an ending that doesn't replace Commander Shepard with some new character as the hero of the story.
I want an ending that doesn't replace the plot of destroying the reapers with some plot about how you have to resolve this never ending conflict between orgaincs and synthetics (even though you've already proven him wrong).
I want an ending that doesn't break the rules established in the rest of the game.
I want an ending that allows for true success and true failure. Only an emo-teenager would believe that an ending has to be dark and depressing in order to be "artistic", or even realistic. Yes, there will be sacrifices, but why shouldn't you get an uplifting, happy ending if you have put the effort in? After all, as so many often point out, "it's just a game".
I want an ending that doesn't have to try and convince us it's good. I want an ending that doesn't have to try and explain itself. I want an ending that isn't filled with plot-holes and inconsistancies, and doesn't break all its own rules about what this universe can and can't do. Every plot hole, every bit of confusion, every case where some aspect of this universe is apparently ignored - all of that can be traced back to one core element - that the story was abandoned at the last minute, and replaced with something that makes no sense, and has no baring on the plot.
Most importantly, I want an ending of the level of quality we know they're capable of. The level of quality that was present in Tuchunka for instance.
