The ending truly is mad as a hatter, though.

If you were not challenged by the 3 choices of the ending you missed the boat my friend(s). This game has a very deep ending that goes beyond the ME universe and challenges YOU.
I saw how you saw the endings, i do not find myself challenged by a game of pick the war crime. I am glad you are able to find enjoyment in the ending, however i am unable to overlook massive amounts of plotholes and fill them with headcannon.

And the code said to shoot starkid. I did. This made for a disappointing ending.

For those of you who did not like the ME3 ending. Do you even understand it? The ending is INSANE.
I might have been sightly more appreciative of the destroy endign of Ihadnt made friends of the geth... also the logic and the way it all feel together didn't exactly make sense and there was a lacking of closure..
Destroy is the only ending that creates a save and thus the only sucessful ending.. Yet it forced my Shepard to commit genicide on an entire race of sentient machines that were fighting for me and my cause, fighting and dying... Now I had to destroy them? Also it pains me that I didnt get more dialogue optiosn towards the end. the ending lacks closure.
The lacking of closure is made worse by the idea that this is the big ending of a trilogy. I expected enough closure to be able to immagine the rest of the endign but as it stands it's all very mcuh up in the air.. I guess the only sure thing about the destroy ending was that it did seem to destroy the reapers.
Hopefully those of us who played all 3 games will get some closure to the story with the new DLC. Hope is all I got.
The game otherwise was incredible, but the ending left for a lot to be desired.

Basically this. I'm not going to write half of the universe's fate because Bioware was too lazy to do the same.
'Speculation' does not equate to 'let the player fill in crap like they want after we took their choice away and laughed at them for liking it.'
My headcanon fills in small details, like 'Normandy Movie Nights' or Legion trolling MMOs by hacking in sexually explicit taunts, or Garrus and Legion secretly being sniper-bros. Not the ending to my most beloved franchise.
I congratulate you, as Quietness did, for finding pleasure in the whimsically done endings.

Insanely disappointing and full of plot-holes that totally contradict everything established in the universe...

All you guys trying to find clever ways to be negative and witty obviously don't know what the hell you want out of life. Bioware provides you with three distinct choices (and if you can't see them, keep thinking) and you're still not happy.

Two of those choices are pretty much the same the only difference is the colour you still die and the red one (the one I thought we were working towards for two frigging games) is the "bad" one yet also the best one because yay you can live. That is if you feel like wasting your life playing the boring aresed MP the included or cheat. There are more plot holes than a sieve and in general the ending just felt rushed or maybe they just didn't give a flying fig. But hey I'm glad you liked it. Maybe your standards aren't as high as mine though.

You're just not thinking ahead. How are two of the endings even remotely similar? Besides the stupid plot hole Joker scene, the rest is pretty dang interesting, and I'm looking forward as to how they work it out in Mass Effect 4.

Yes, it was insane.
You know why it was insane?
It took my 150+ hours of gameplay across all three games, all the miniquests in ME1, all the stuff against Cerberus in ME1, all the random stuff in ME2, the loyalties, the Suicide Mission, Hell even the DLC for ME2, then added all of the beautiful scenes and dramatic moments across ME3's first 99.8% of the campaign into a mixture, stirred it gently, and set it to a low-boil to cook like delicious gumbo.
Then it dumped this mixture into the dirtiest toilet and shoved my face in it. It takes a special kind of insanity to do all of that just to show me that nihilistic crap mixed with the best metaphorical-gumbo in this dimension still tastes like nihilistic crap.
... You win.
