Wow, this was a bad troll... and still people feed it 5 pages straight.

7/10, respect.

The OP has apparently found a satisfactory way to piece the ending together that works for him. Good for you OP. Others have too and reached very different conclusions. Indoc Theory is just the most popular one out there.

Now, please show some humility and don't jump from "When I think of it like this, it makes sense to me", to "I have uncovered the hidden truth and you are all stupid for not understanding".

lol... dude I can't believe how narrow minded people are. Nobody gets the ending.

They're are all too caught up in "waaa I want Shepard to either continue flying around the Galaxy serving the Alliance or settle down and be a family man".

This is simple wrong, no-one has said anything about a "happy" ending. Your assertion is incorrect.

No he is right. I've seen plenty of whinny happy ending people. More than anything else in fact now that Retake is not much than dust.

Sure you have. Not that there's anything wrong with wanting a happy ending when the game builds up to that possibility.

Doesn't sound like you get the question/hint.

By the way, how do you see destroy as not an option?

Oh I get it, it's just nonsense.

Destroy is _still_ granted to you by the Catalyst it rolls in a lovely "if you want this you have to kill all synthetics as well 'cos I say so" for no good reason, it's still on the Reapers terms, it's still doing the bidding of the enemy.

So you just wandered onto the citadel? Or did you forget your mission?

Would you be happy if nobody told you the big red button blows up all robot life? Would you then simply shrug your shoulders and say to yourself "well at least the Reapers are gone"? So basically you want the Curcible to be a "kill Reaper only" weapon? You speak as if you have no idea of your original intent, regardless of what is told to you in the final moments of ME.

You guys are SO picky.

Give me one reason why space magic could not work this way.

Fallacious argument: False Dichotomy "If you don't want X then you must want Y"
I've satisfied myself that, contrary to your assertion it's you that doesn't understand the ending (or lack thereof). So I'm happly done here "Horse to water" and all that.

As for plotholes in the ending, the Catalyst contradicts Sovereign's duties as Vanguard in Mass Effect 1. Sovereign remained in the Milky Way to monitor organic life and when it was time for the harvest it would send a signal to the Citadel. The Citadel was a relay that let Reapers in from dark space. If the Citadel is a part of the Catalyst and the Catalyst created the Reapers, and through the Crucible it can relinquish control of the Reapers to Shepard. Why doesn't the Catalyst monitor life and open the relay itself? Why even use the vanguard (Sovereign)? Why does it allow the Keepers to be reprogrammed? Had it done these things itself it would have made for a better trap.

Regardless of my understanding of the ending you seem to forget the idea that in your ignorance (as Shep) your goal was simply to activate crucidle. Regardless of any outcome. The plan was simply "activate Crucible". So it doesn't matter what you discovered beforehand because you had it already set in your mind that activating Crucible was the goal. Then the kid blows you a fart and somehow throws you off balance and you start whining that you have no choices? You are a gullible man sir.

yep, we are all stupid. we don't "get" the ending. Thanks OP for pointing that out. We always need people like you to point that out to us seeing as how we are so stupid. I think I will go watch "Forrest Gump" now as that is the genius intelligence level we need to live up to....his sgt. in basic even said he was a genius so it must be the truth......whew, riding the sarcasm train is hard work lol.

The scene with the Illusive man and Anderson + the dialogue with the kid are what make the ending so damn good.

The choices may have been limited to 3, but it's not like it needed any more. Besides, you would be ****ing if there was only 1 or 9000 anyway.

So you're asking us if we understood an ending that lacked sanity?

in·sane/inˈsān/Adjective:In a state of mind that prevents normal perception, behavior, or social interaction; seriously mentally ill.
(of an action or quality) Characterized or caused by madness.
