@OP You mean a public gold match right? Lower your expectations.

You know yesterday for s&giggles I took a claymore X and Widow X on my krogan soldier, no one kicked me and I was first with full extraction.

Use that same loadout with an Asari adept.

salarian engineer + sniper = win.
i rarely lose a gold match with my valiant

Salarian Engineer with the right evolutions can carry a Mantix X for 190% recharge speed.

I'm not worthy of gold matches. I will slum it in silver and bronze world.

I feel completely and utterly entitled to be a douche. Yes, I openly despise those who can't confidently handle Silver, then join Gold and expect you to resurrect them every time they fail like a Bronze player would. <snip>

I'm kinda glad that I don't play Gold with you then. Here's the truth said straight: if you feel entitlted to act like a douche during a game, you are a douche.

I don't act like a douche during a game.  Where the hell did you get that from?. I'm pretty sure you would like playing Gold with me, I don't do any stupid crap, I play for the team, I play the objective and I can handle myself.

I got that from you! Your words.

I'll give anyone a shot in the lobby unless it's obviously a new player in over his head. Even still, if the Gold team looks like it's not going to work out with an N20 in there, I'll still give it a try, I just will be more stingy with my consumables. I prefer to get through a set, but every time I'm swamped or soloing, I learn a little more about how to play and I get better at the game. (and it's fun as hell running for my life!) I'm on a PC and johhnytrash is my Origin handle. Friend me and we'll play together and we'll see how bad I suck and how douchey you are. Hopefully, we will be neither.

I didn't say I am a douche in game, so no, not my words. I meant I can be a douche about it here, in this open forum, if that's what I have to be to get my point across.

Edit: oh, and added :P

My peeves:

1) People who join a match on any difficulty and proceed to loudly pack a bong / take a hit / snort a line / do some kind of drug, and then talk about it while acting like a useless douche for the remaining 20 minutes.

2) When my friends and I are pugging one slot in Gold, and some moron proceeds to join, and immediately tell us what / where / how to play. We've just cleared 30 gold matches in a row, and this dink, who likely spent 5 minutes reading these forums and has no real experience, thinks he's now qualified to tell us we're fighting the wrong enemy, on the wrong map, and using the wrong weapons? These are the same people who will play Infiltrators with shotguns and then score exactly zero points, all the while telling everyone else how to play.

3) That guy who uses his rocket on the SINGLE Atlas at 5% health, but refuses to use any rockets when nine Phantoms are about to show us why anal and swords should never mix.

4) That guy who medigels when I am TWO INCHES from him after going down in round 1, and goes on to complain that he is out of gels in round 10.

5) That guy playing the Krogan / Turian who just kind of waddles into my line of fire at the least opprotune times, and does so with alarming consistency.

6) That guy who fails to mention (due to no mic or no brain) that he was just murdered by a gaggle of Geth Hunters, ensuring that I, too, will be murdered by said Geth Hunters upon trying to revive him.

7) Turrets.

I expect everyone to have a mic and a loadout that is specific which is why I only play Gold with friends who all have mics and a loadout that is competent in Gold. Otherwise if its a PUG I play Silver instead. No point playing Gold with people who won't make it to Wave 11 and beat it.

People I know getting all uppity about weapon loadouts.
I generally play with a friend of mine who's overall equipment is fairly low in comparison to most but he's a decent shot and gets the job done.
But he still gets all upset and butthurt whenever a 'lesser' player joins and starts chanting to me to kick him even thou I want to give them a fair chance over just kicking them for no real reason.

Why is it that people (even when their not picture perfect themselves) want others to either live up to their mental perfect image or gtfo?

Now that that QQ is off my chest... what's your pet peeve in Gold matches?

Somewhat similar to yours, inf. sitting around when retrieve data packets comes up. Last gold game i played a drell adept and me (asari vangaurd) had to retrieve them while two salarians inf cloaked and sniped :/

I've only played one gold match which I won, but I want to get more experience and find the class best suited for me before I properly start.

^^This^^

If more people had this mentality and could just admit that they can't quite play gold yet, it would save SOOOO many headaches.  People should practice, practice, practice until they are ready for gold to be played the way it should be.  Not flailing around making a scene like myself at my first middle school dance.. Posted Image..yeah it was rough, even for that "crazy white kid".  The dance i mean, not the gold match... yikes

Mine? Everyone gathering in one area at one time, it draws all enemies inward, and you get flanked soooo easily. Seriously, the number of times I see my teammates come into one area, ARRRGH! This is basic stuff!

Continue experimenting in Silver, and also if you have a particular build or loadout you want to try out, you can test it on your own in a Private Gold game. I like to test vs Cerberus on FB Dagger. Don't take any buffs or use consumables, just restart the game if you die; I'd say if you can finish wave 1 on your own with no major issues, then you should be fine to try that build on Gold with items.

I wish people wouldn't be so quick to kick Vanguards from Gold matches.

- No, we are not all idiots who go charging off into every single thing just because we can, trying to solo Atlases and Banshees and other heavy **** (Phantoms are an entirely different story :D).
- No, we are not all kill-stealing bastards who enjoy making you cry because you got an assist instead of a kill. And while I understand the need to see that little "Kill + points" sign on your screen and have that little flutter of ego, the main objectives of a MP match are to have fun and survive to the end. We're here to help you do that. Really. It just requires some goodwill in your part.
- Yes, we are well aware of the limitations of our class - it's not called "high risk, high reward" for nothing. I tell people straight up that I am not a priority rez. If I go down because I made mistake, I can live with that. If I go down because I was saving someone else and not thinking about the 20 other enemies closing in, I'll be proud of that (a "thank you" wouldn't hurt either).

People automatically see "Vanguard" and think "LOLNOPE KICK HIS/HER ASS." But remember these fun facts about Vanguards:
- Asari can use Stasis.
- Drell can spam Pull to set up rapid successions of Biotic Explosions (with Charge or other biotic powers).
- Humans with (double) Nova have incredible crowd control.

Anyways, I just needed to vent a little. Silver is child's play for my Vanguard. I use the Asari Adept and Salarian/Quarian Inflitrator on Gold not because I want to, but because I know I'll get booted otherwise. Yes it's nice getting all those lovely credits. But I'd also like to have fun while doing it by playing a class I LOVE versus a class just because it's useful.

The only two things that bother me are (1) Not playing the objective[you're costing me credits] (2) Using your medi-gel near the end of a wave when two people+ are alive or using medi-gel on like wave 2 or 3.

If you avoid those two things. I'm pleased even if you are a Quarian Engineer with a Claymore and Widow.

Hmm. Usually I find it is a good idea to have everyone relatively nearby except when doing the four point objective. Depends on the location and the map, of course, but in general it prevents people from facing an overwhelming enemy on their own. But even better - everyone keeps their own flank secured, and scouts ahead for enemies to do damage before they reach the main defensive position, then retreat before enemies get too close.

My peeves is that MP is already broken by the elitism, the fact you can't play how you want to and MUST have specific builds, etc.

at leas on the gold level and sometimes on Silver.

I like to play bit risky, try new things and test my limits. If I have to carry the whole team this really becomes a problem (I make a mistake and single Marauder wipes rest of team, etc).
However, I don't really care about what class people are using (just don't be caster with heavy weapons). I have seen so many cookie-cutter players be awfully crap (= no teamwork).

I like playing on bronze too. :D But lately I've been playing silver and tend to end up first/second (not always but with enough consistency) I think I'm going to move up to Gold today or maybe tomorrow.

Question for anyone in the know, why would it be bad for an engineer to carry a sniper riffle in a Gold match?
I'm not a fan of them, but have seen people use them very well.

And the teammates who I'm supposed to be carrying are not supposed to be learning to play? I think you've got it a bit upside down.

They are. But they should be alowed to play wtih the class they choose. A bad team mate is just another challenge. I play almost exclusively with a private group. When I do go looking for a public match though, I am fine with carrying the team. It's fun.

It also does alot more for the ego than sitting atop some judgemental pillar making presumptions about others.
