You know yesterday for s&giggles I took a claymore X and Widow X on my krogan soldier, no one kicked me and I was first with full extraction.

I like playing on bronze too. :D But lately I've been playing silver and tend to end up first/second (not always but with enough consistency) I think I'm going to move up to Gold today or maybe tomorrow.

Question for anyone in the know, why would it be bad for an engineer to carry a sniper riffle in a Gold match?
I'm not a fan of them, but have seen people use them very well.

As long as it doesn't affect their CC abilities too much it's not a problem. A Human eng can use a mantis X with 190% cooldown.

Now that that QQ is off my chest... what's your pet peeve in Gold matches?

Yesterday i played a few gold matches and i noticed somebody running of on his own to do the objectives.
Result = he/she dies and a few waves later the same thing happened and we were overwhelmed.

Next gold game i defended whoever did those objectives and we won those objectives. Just felt like mentioning that.

Oh and i agree with the guy who mentioned that you should give Vanguards a chance. They are probably the best crowd controllers.

But you guys know that a large part of the ME people consists of  SP gamers? You don't have your golden Battlefield or Call of Duty player elite here

I wish people wouldn't be so quick to kick Vanguards from Gold matches.

- No, we are not all idiots who go charging off into every single thing just because we can, trying to solo Atlases and Banshees and other heavy **** (Phantoms are an entirely different story :D).
- No, we are not all kill-stealing bastards who enjoy making you cry because you got an assist instead of a kill. And while I understand the need to see that little "Kill + points" sign on your screen and have that little flutter of ego, the main objectives of a MP match are to have fun and survive to the end. We're here to help you do that. Really. It just requires some goodwill in your part.
- Yes, we are well aware of the limitations of our class - it's not called "high risk, high reward" for nothing. I tell people straight up that I am not a priority rez. If I go down because I made mistake, I can live with that. If I go down because I was saving someone else and not thinking about the 20 other enemies closing in, I'll be proud of that (a "thank you" wouldn't hurt either).

People automatically see "Vanguard" and think "LOLNOPE KICK HIS/HER ASS." But remember these fun facts about Vanguards:
- Asari can use Stasis.
- Drell can spam Pull to set up rapid successions of Biotic Explosions (with Charge or other biotic powers).
- Humans with (double) Nova have incredible crowd control.

Anyways, I just needed to vent a little. Silver is child's play for my Vanguard. I use the Asari Adept and Salarian/Quarian Inflitrator on Gold not because I want to, but because I know I'll get booted otherwise. Yes it's nice getting all those lovely credits. But I'd also like to have fun while doing it by playing a class I LOVE versus a class just because it's useful.

Most people kick Vanguards if they are not the host because they are bugged. If a Vanguard is killed before Charge goes off they are subject to a glitch that ultimately detacts them from the games normal physics and they are useless for the rest of the match. Host lag can also make it so Nova will be delayed before going off a second time, and then be unable to because enemy attacks draining their barrier.

Then should they not have Charge spec'd they are really playing a gimped class, on Gold everything a Vanguard without Charge other classes can do to better effect.

In the end if you want to play a Vanguard you need to host games.

Um, I usually score top 2 on my salarian engineer/ mantis x in silver..any map, any enemy.. Salarians can get nearly 200% with this setup....why do people believe this is a crap setup?

Isnt thay why we have mics? So we can talk about who needs to do what?

That would be nice but in my experiece 98% of ME3 players dont have or dont use mics. On XBL anyway

This might seem... odd... but the console comes with a mic headset. I know this because I own one. So... don't have mics? Was that supposed to be funny? I am mildly delirious from lack of sleep and can't compute.

I wish it was supposed to be funny. I rarely get in game where people will respond to me at all.

What I want out of my Gold teams?

How bout competence? I don't mean play like a biotic god. Just know what you're doing and realize you have a role in the team based on the class you've selected.

Really simple stuff, really.

Then you're foolish.  I've played with human vanguards on Gold who have been absolutely incredible crowd controllers.  Wouldn't have won those matches without them.

I don't expect anything. My only peeve is leechers.

I'll drop out and restart before I'll struggle through a 3-man gold run. No free rides here.

If everyone had the same philosophy leeching would just be a waste of time, hopping from lobby to lobby but every else just leaves on wave 2.

When people try and ban my power spec level 20 Turian Sentinel.
Then I outscore all the adepts who think their rinky-dinky Biotic Explosions will save them.

I come from a BF3 clan, but we only have two players that play ME3.  One plays the Vanguard, one plays the Infiltrator, and I play either Engineer or Sentinel.  If the Vaguard does not stray too far from the team, and people do not mind getting a ton of assists, then Vanguards are actually VERY useful.  When we see a nice, large group it is pretty easy.  He goes in as a Vanguard should, and I either overload or warp the enemies to soften them up.  His double Nova does come in handy.
Infiltrator goes for the objective while we give the enemies some noise to think about.
I can't wait for the vanguard to unlock the Krogan, I am sure he will be having tons of fun with that!
Vanguards HAVE to have backup, they get eaten alive if they don't.  Thing is when they are NOT eaten alive, they are your best friends.

Yea, actually you do have a fair bit of Battlefield players here.  If you played battlefield for a while, you would know that most of us don't putz around, we play to win.  If my clanmates are any example, our win/loss ratio is more important than our K/D ratio.  Having a battlefield player on your team, generally speaking, is not a bad thing.

Call of Duty is a completely different animal.  Twitch reflexes, altogether too much confidence in being alone, these are likely where the Rambo wannabes come from.  Battlefield players play to win, and can come across as douchetastic or elitist because of it.  Call of Duty players understand the concept of teamwork, vaguely.  It ends up translating more into "Revivie me, I am across the map from you guys.  Bad luck!"

You do have quite a bit of Battlefield Elite here, I am likely guilty of it.  I don't rage over the mic, though.  I know better than to expect a stellar team of pubbers.

I agree with your battlefield theory. it's all about team work. Sometimes you just have to take one for the team.

My pet peeve is getting kicked from a Gold game just because my N7 rating is not some insanely high number. The elitists who think they've got game 'cuz their rating is 500+ and everyone else in the lobby mission is 100+ or something sucks, is absurd. We all wanna enjoy the game and even us lower rated N7's can wreck some stuff too AND help keep our teammates alive while doing it.Posted Image

While I have gone 'on-mission' with players without microphones and have been successful, I do prefer the mics just because it's easier to communicate with words then it is with your gameplay. When you've got a good, consistent krew that you can wreck stuff with, then you can operate without talking a whole lot just because you've played together enough that you're familiar with each other's styles.

Nope. I expect you to lay down cover fire while I grab the objective. If I'm wrong and the objective is devoid of enemies, then the group is slowed down a bit as they run together from place to place. If I'm right and the objective is defended by enemies, then it's a much more surefire strategy to punch through them as a team and offer mutual support rather than die alone while the squad is busy elsewhere.

Sure you can cloak and grab, but cloak doesn't cover you for the whole attempt, and the margin of error for doing anything solo on gold is non-existent.

This kind of attitude is what's pissing off so many in this thread. That's just being unreasonable. You can't assume every set of weapons not personally approved by your grace is going to fail. This is exactly the kind of elitist bull**** that this game does not need.

I'm not saying don't discuss loadouts and such, but kicking every single person who dares to use a shotgun as an infiltrator or whatever is just plain being an elitist dick of the "no fun allowed" persuasion.

As a relatively fresh player in MP, I can understand to a certain degree that very experienced players can find noobs annoying.

That said, I just had the most awesome MP experience ever. I ended up in a Gold round with 3 pretty high level players (130+). I was only about 36 and expected to be kicked. But they let me play. It was against geth and I played a drell adept meaning I was not well equipped for fighting geth whereas the others were engineers and infiltrators. I didn't die as often as expected actually. During the 9 first rounds I had to be revived about 3 times. My experience from CoD and Battlefield came in handy, and I just followed their lead, stuck to cover and fired shots and used powers whenever possible. Let's just say I got lots more assists than kills...

My big point is though: We won! My team mates had every reason to not give a sh*t about me, but treated me as a regular team mate. This also motivated me to not screw it up for them, and hopefully they felt I actually contributed to the win in my relatively modest way. I think the morale of the story should be clear. With the right attitude it is fully possible for a noob and Gold experts to work together successfully.
