I have been trying to get Bioware to answer my trouble ticket for days.  I cannot progress any further in the game till this gets resolved, yet their "within 24 hour" response time is non existent, being it has been 4 days.

I am very dissappointed with this situation being Bioware should know better, especially supporting such a new, and high profile game.

silence helps them avoid appearing incompetent

if you're tired of your frustration with BioWare, go to EA tech support for some new and improved frustration

I have. I have done everything I can to get them to help me out with my two game-breaking issues.

No response.

Update: EA just contacted me and it said "Since you are experiencing these issues within the game, we cannot offer support. Please try the forums and get help from Dragon Age's helpful community."

I am completely dumbfounded...this feels like a nightmare. Are they seriously telling me that they can't help people's issues if the issue happens while playing???

Thats EA for you. their bosses probably tell them not to help ppl. just copy and paste a scripted response to send them on their way and out of EA's hair.

seriously i bet the entire EA support team does nothing but spend a day making their support web page, then spend the rest of the time sitting on their asses playing solitare

What is the problem? Perhaps your problem isn't technical? You don't know how to progress or finish a quest perhaps?

So, how about a list of these issues that we can try and help you solve so that you're playing instead of fuming?

you see... i don't even want to try and help with this problem, because the person who's having the problem appears to me to be either a complete moron or a childish whiner.

i guess it's a good thing i don't work in tech support.

Perhaps you could quote my "moronic" phrase?  Or even the "childish whine"?  I would love to edit the wording so that it better matches what you consider the type of complaint worth noticing.

Thanx for the offer of assistance all.  I have posted this before but all anyone was able to offer as help was the tried and true "Press H", or "its a known bug...just click again or wait a couple seconds", or "change your tactics" even though I was quite clear in my issue.

In my game the controlled character will not auto-attack.  That is,
when you right click a mob to attack, with whatever ability, it will
perform that ability once, then simply stand there.  So he walks to his target, swings his sword or casts a spell, then stands there letting the mobs beat on him.  To get him to attack again you have to continue right clicking.

This
problem has been going on for days.  Its not one of the normal "My group doesn't attack" kind of thing.
So its not that they are on hold, and its not the small bug where they
stop for a couple seconds and you can "jump start" them again.
On
any other character everything is fine, but on my main character (level
17) something has happened and no matter what you do or how many times
you click, or select a new mob, or reload a different save, or mess
with the tactics, or control a diffferent party member, or take them on
and off Hold, the character that you control just refuses to attack
past the first swing. He will run after a mob, hit it, then stand
there. Or cast an ability, then stand there.Like I said, this happens only on my main character. All other toons are working fine.Unfortunately, going back to another save does nothing to fix it, so I can't just go back a ways and redo stuff.

Are you serious?  You got caught trolling and this is all you can come up with?  Are you like...12?

WAIT - don't answer that...prove it.

If it happened to you, how would you say it?  That way i can change the post to your words so people can understand better.

Wow, sorry about these posts here Tia. Only a few tried to actually help you and the others were being judgmental.

Guys, if you don't want to help people, stay in the General forum or off-topic forum. We try to form a reputation as a nice community in these other sectors.

Now as for your problem. It sounds a lot like the behavior with strategy that was fixed in the latest patch, 1.02. You should download that, if you have not already.

If that isn't the problem, then I'm afraid it has to do with your tactics setup. Did you remember to assign them tactics and your characters are not in "hold position" mode? If true, check the second page of their tactics panel and look at their general behavior. Is it set to Defensive or Ranged or something similar? Try setting it to "Aggressive", because that behavior always works. Any archers set to ranged should also work, however.

I hope that helps! Please post again if you can and ignore the bad posters around.

They have just been banging their heads against other forum trolls for so long they mistakingly took you for one. :wizard:

Oh, the issue is one we as a community should have hlped you with from the start. The ticket stuff and EA Tech Support are for... More serious issues, such as BSoD's.

Anyway, look forward to hearing from you again!

I had to acknowledge that  and yes it happens sometimes but not all the time, as I see it, if your hero is your point man then tactics for this guy is temporarily suspended so you really need to control your hero first hand. Yes some of your guys gets stuck and that's killing them if you don't look closely what they are doing. So what you need to do is PAUSE, select your hero or whoever is being swamped and move him to the rear or to the side. That fixes it buddy its not really a bug of some sort or perhaps you need to check your tactics, you may have advertently disabled it.

I had this problem too, but only after I had installed the toolset and made a morph. If you have done this, the fix is really easy. Just go into your C:\\Users\\whatever\\Documents\\BioWare\\Dragon Age\\modules and delete or change the name of the Single Player folder. This worked for me. If this has nothing to do with your problem, sorry.

Thanks again all.

I absolutely appreciate the help here, but the thread is going exactly the way my LAST thread went, like I described in my previous post...I have been through all of this before days ago.

As I said:

"I have posted this before but all anyone was able to offer as help was the tried and true "Press H", or "its a known bug...just click again or wait a couple seconds", or "change your tactics" even though I was quite clear in my issue."

This problem isn't due to being on "Hold"....it only happens on the controlled character.

This problem isn't due to tactics...it only happens on the controlled character.
Not to mention all characters are NOT on defensive, which is the setting most problems like mine are caused by.

This is not the "bugged out...click somewhere else" problem.
This problem has been going on for days...I have spent many hours trying to fix this....everything from taking my character back to previous areas, to completely reinstalling the game, to repairing Windoze itself.  Trust me, if clicking somewhere else or moving around would help I would have found out the problem.

A couple people have told me this also, and I thought that it would be the solution, becuase this problem that I am having started right after I installed the Toolset.  Unfortunately one of the things that I have tried during the past days was to uninstall the toolset completely, yet my problem persists.

For example you are fighting a genlock, you naturally click on the enemy and your controlled character will attack until its dead. After that command he stops until you move him again right? Your controlled character does not do anything unless you tell him what to do.

Another example, I saw a genlock mob in the horizon and I switched to Leliana using her archery skills, I direct Leliana to pick on the enemy one by one but during that time another genlock notices that his buddy is being attacked so it goes to berserk and will now attack you, naturally the melee fighters on your party will attack him without being told what to do and that is due to tactics.

Important: Your controlled character is directly operated by you and it will not do anything unless you tell him what to do. The rest of the party with a properly configured tactic will respond to any threat posed around their sorroundings.

Unless all of the above is not met and still your game doesn't behave what it should be doing in the first place then something is really wrong with it.

Try to create a new character and observe what happens.

ARG lol.

Obviously I realize that you have to control the character you are controlling.  I am not staring at the screen trying to will my character to attack.

And as I said twice in my post:

"On any other character everything is fine,
but on my main character (level
17) something has happened and no matter what you do or how many times

Or cast an ability, then stand there.

Like I said, this happens only on
my main character. All other toons are working fine.

Sounds like a hard-to-troubleshoot glitch. To be honest I'd try installing yesterday's new patch first and see if that fixes it. If not, it's probably going to take longer tracking down the error than it would to simply reinstall the game.

Installing the toolset seems to bug out the main game in strange ways, even if you're just messing about inside custom modules and never touch the single player campaign. I had an issue where my character couldn't zone out of camp or between areas. No reason for it other than I'd just created a new seperate module (related to dumping items into the inventory of a storage chest in "camp") in the toolset creator.

PC version, and an uninstall/reinstall fixed it. Re-downloading the downloadable content packs took longer than the reinstall (15 mins), and I didn't lose my saved games. I did have to reinstall all the old mods, which took an extra two minutes or so.

Update:

Patch 1.02 fixed the problem.  Apparently this situation can come up if you install the Toolset and then create a character in someone's mod.  It can corrupt your saved games for the character you play next, which in my case was my main character.

Thanx all for the help have fun
