I have 4 Sheps.

My CanonShep romanced Kaidan in ME1, his photo in ME2, and Kaidan again in ME3.
Shep #2 romanced Kaidan in ME1, Thane in ME2, and in ME3, Thane. Would have loved to have James, but alas.
Renegade Shep made Kaidan a renegade in ME1 and romanced him, stayed faithful in ME2, then saw that there is no difference betwixt regular Kaidan and a Kaidan you'd "changed" in ME3, so I reloaded ME2 and romanced Garrus. Stuck with Garrus in ME3.
BroShep chose Liara in ME1, Jack in ME2, then Liara in 'Lair of the Shadow Broker' DLC. Then invited Jack up to his cabin to snuggle. *IZ evil*. I haven't decided what he's going to do yet, to be honest.

I romanced Liara in ME1 and continued through ME3, each time. There is somthing unique about the relationship. Somthing so primal and yet innocent in the relationship between Shepard and Liara. I felt the most emotion when engaging in conversation with Liara during romance plot than any other romance.

Not to mention I have always had the hots for Liara since ME1 so... Why do Asari, especially Liara have to be a fictitious character? lol. There is somthing adorable about Liara's personality. Maybe another reason why I chose her for romance was I see in her what I would love to have in a relationship. I dunno. Not to mention it sounds so sexy the way Liara says Shepard lol.

I have... way too many playthroughs to answer this question easily, because I always romance someone. But... lets see. 1 male PC, who romanced no-one in ME, and Jack in ME2 and ME3. 4 female Sheps who romanced Kaidan in ME; one stayed loyal all the way through to ME3, one romanced Thane in ME2 and stayed loyal to him all throughout ME3 even though he dies, one romanced Thane in ME2 but got back with Kaidan after he died, and one romanced Garrus in ME2 and stayed loyal to him in ME3. Then I have one female Shep who romanced no-one in ME, but romanced Thane in ME2 and stayed loyal to him even after his death in ME3; and one female Shep who romanced no-one in ME, romanced Garrus in ME2, and stayed with him in ME3. Oh, and one female Shep who has romanced Liara throughout all 3 games, although I haven't quite finished her yet; she will be staying with Liara, however.

So, erm... to list it succinctly: Kaidan, Thane, Garrus, Jack, and Liara. But I'm the most attached to Thane and Garrus.
