Notch: ‘The More We Don’t Do What [EA] Would Do, The Happier I Am’
What better way to protest EA/BioWare than to take your business to the developer who basically turned down EA?
Support Notch!

What do you expect? This is from the same guy who made the Zhu's Hope spore theory and the "How to safely screw an Ardat-Yakshi" theory.

Though for what you're saying you'd buy something like that Kingdoms of Amular (or is it nights?), so that EA could see sales figures.

Recently, Bioware has announced Extended Cut DLC, demonstrating once again that they do not care to listen to the opinions of the retake mass effect 3 movement. As if ten minutes of that tripe were not enough, Bioware has announced that they will not change the endings, but extend them, forcing us to sit through an even longer version of the endings we detest. Clearly, our previous campaigns have not been working, and if we want to be taken more seriously than save derpy movement, we're going to have to start spening our resources more wisely.
Penny Arcade has turned their noses up at our Child's Play campaign, not believing that our cause is directly aligned with ours, and although the cupcake campaign was amusing, it did little to change Bioware's position and I do not expect our billboard campaign to get any better results.
The problem is, that Bioware believe's what Owen Good wrote on Kotaku, that no matter how much we protest Bioware's decisions on its forums, we are still addicts at the core and will continue to purchase their games religously. If we are to have any chance of convincing Bioware to truly change the ending, we must be willing to prove that we will take our business elsewhere if they do not.
Instead of pouring our money into cupcakes and billboards that noone but gamers will understand, we could be helping to fund developers who respect their customers.
Brian Fargo, the creator of Fallout 1 &2, has taken a stand in the development of Wasteland 2, to say that gamers, not focus groups, should decide what goes into a game. While the gaming press has been up in arms defending Bioware's ending from being rewritten by the unartistc masses, Brian Fargo believes that the creation of games should be democratized and that developers should give gamers exactly what they want. Wasteland 2 is a fully fan funded game, and once their donation drive ends in six days, they will be asking us, the customers, how they want us to make the game.
The Banner Saga, another fan funded game on KickStarter, is a tactical rpg being developed by ex-Bioware developers.
And another team is developing Shadowrun Returns on Kickstarter, yet another promising looking fan funded rpg.
While donating to indie teams working to revolutionize developer-gamer relations may not be as "good" a cause as Child's Play, at least it cannot be said that such donations would not be related to our cause.
Heck, if you don't like turn based RPG's even starting a drive to pre-order The Witcher 2 Enhanced Edition would be a more constructive way to spend your protest dollars than cupcakes and billboards. But we're not about to convince Bioware to change the endings the way we are currently operating. All we are proving to them now is how badly we can manage our resources.
I say, that we should hold the line for developer accountability, and retake gaming from megalomaniacal corporations who think that they can tell us what kind of games we should want to play.
The current ending has the bare bones of a logical conclusion -- I'm willing to give the Extended Cut a chance before consigning Bioware to the bargain bin.
That said, 'personalization' better not be a lie.
That being said, I agree more consideration ought to be given to less corporatist alternatives.

Well, the goal would be to hurt EA a bit. Spend money on other publishers/developers. So they can see that people will still choose to buy a quality game over an EA rushed out title.

CDPR is still my all-time favourite developer. Notch is good to support as well. As I've (unfortunately D:) never heard of Wasteland 2, I can't tell here. But the OP is right. Unless we finally start to show them we're not gonna buy every crump they're throwing at us even if they don't fix the ending, they won't start caring.
Unfortunately, that's how Capitalism works.
Well you see, Wasteland is the spiritual predecessor to Fallout, The only reason Fallout was even created in the first place was because Brian Fargo couldn't acquire the rights to develop Wasteland 2 back in the day. Now that Bethesda owns Fallout, and Wasteland is all but forgotten, Brian Fargo has finally managed to acquire the rights to the Wasteland franchise, and create the game that has always been desired by people who disliked the changes to Fallout made by Bethesda.

No your goal with this is too demonstrate buying power.
The Withcher 2 is gonna sell on the 360 anyway man....probably most hyped game of the year on the box next to Halo.
That way EA sees a demonstration of buying power, and you make Curt Schilling happy
