So... they're retconning their own plot all over twitter now?

Interesting...

As long as they go all the way and make these changes for real, I'm okay with it.

Did any of us really believe they'd be able to make it more satisifying without some retcons, anyway

Actually, you clearly can see in the Destroy ending mass relay blows up

Strictly speaking you see an explosion and some bits coming off. Nitpicking I know, but still.

*stares intently on the screen* You know, now when you mentioned it, I can see in explosions  mutant pony, giant butterfly, world map and someone's face. :o
SPECULATIONs!

Well since they are retconning the endings, why can't we get a retcon on star child? Or at least the option to tell him to **** off!

I'm pretty sure I saw them breaking apart in the endings, though.

Guess we're looking at an EC retcon.

Space magic already happened in the game that shipped. If Bioware uses more space magic in the Extended Cut, I honestly don'y mind if it gives us (Retakers and Pro-Enders alike) a more satisfying conclusion for Shepard and company

Nah I don't think so. There is the Executive producer twittering. Remember what they twittered when they built up the hype. Their posts from Twitter were all around the media. It is a medium they use for news.

IIRC, in the Control option the destruction of the Relays cuts before the part where we see the rings flying off into space. We just see it begin to break apart instead of completely boom-all. (It's the same animation as the other two, but it doesn't play through all the way).

See highlighted part.

I saw the cutscene and yeah apparently it cuts before we seem the Relay exploding, but the canon explaination is that the relays are destroyed. Why would they tell me that, if they're only disabled in the Control ending? Tell me that, then. I mean - It's stupid otherwise.

It could be a case of bad writing and I wouldn't be surprised, though.

It does indeed look like the relays crumble apart (though they don't explode violently like the other two endings). Even so, the God Child says very explicitly that releasing the Crucible's energy will DESTROY the mass relays.

good so they're disabled.

Fine, make it CGI or cutscene than put in extended, also add something with miranda because romancing with her is meaningless in mE3.

Yea ... the whole Jack romance didn't seem to matter much anyway.

Punch ->  Kiss -> Kiss -> Kiss -> Dance -> "Don't get killed ******.  When this is over, I'm getting laid."

Of course, since I did get killed like a ****** and she didn't get laid, I'm thinking most sentient life will want to stay well clear of her for the next 30 or 40 years.

This is not a retcon.

Look at the relay in control in this comparison.

They always omitted the explosion. Even though we see the relay being shredded, I have often said that they were being cheap, and this was their half-assed way of showing the relays aren't destroyed in control.
Which just furthers the horrible implication that control is the best ending.

I'm lost : (

Youtube comment made me laugh though:

"Does this mean Shepard becomes Dr. Manhattan from watchmen."  not verbatim but it made me think  hmmmm.

Anyone that says they 'get' the ending is officially full of beans.

Just watch. Time right on explosion.
Control "Explosion"
Destroy Explosion
So.. does this mean control is "good" option?
Sh*t, this is even worse. (for me at least).
:crying:

If that's the case, I'm probably gonna have to load my "NOW THAT YOU'VE BEATEN THE GAME, BUY OUR DLC" save, and choose control.

The Catalyst clearly states the relays will be destroyed:

Releasing the energy of the crucible will end the cycle but it will also DESTROY the Mass Relays

This^

I wish someone at Bioware would commit to a story and stick with it

Yeah but it's pretty clear that the Catalyst is a liar so nothing he says counts.

So I'm assuming it goes like this.

Control: shep dies. Relays short out but structurally intact. Galaxy much better off

Destroy: shep lives(high EMS). Relays blow up completely

I know, it's pretty daft. You're told they'll be destroyed, then see them consumed in a fireball. That sort of thing shouldn't really be open to interpretation, I try to be open to perspectives, but that's a heck of a stretch.

I am going to do the Kayne West thing from SP, and draw on a whiteboard to figure it out.

Don't ruin your team's artistic vision on Twitter, Mr Gamble.

Because Mac Walters says the galaxy is a wasteland!

Basically the only way to create a situation where Shepard could ever reunite with their LI is to kill Shepard.

Next thing from Bioware:

EXTENDED CUT is via Twitter.

They're so lazy not to have cut scenes, but choose to fill in the gaps via twitter.

Are you sh**ing me? Twitter. Congrats, you spent $60 bucks for an unfinished game , where your updates to plotholes are tweeted.

Bioware has made chumps out of us all. Kinda pisses you off huh?

No? Because I swear it looked a lot like getting wrecked to ****.

If they're gonna change this then why not do it properly and change the whole ending.

Hopefully next they say Starbrat was just in Shepard's imagination and none of the ending was real.

Grub's said it's likely it would require too many resources. These things are usually planned out from pre-production, and there's a lot of accounting that goes into it, so changing the ending as they are now will be the full extent of what they can do without seriously screwing with bank accounts and employee availability.
