The Catalyst clearly states the relays will be destroyed:

Releasing the energy of the crucible will end the cycle but it will also DESTROY the Mass Relays

The Catalyst also said Shepard would die. Lots of speculation!

Even in the Control ending, you can still see the Relay breaking apart

If the wing mirror comes off of my car, is it breaking apart?

No, it's not.

But how about now?

Going on twitter/fb/g+/hi5/myspace/tumblr/reddit and posting things like that is an insult.

How dare they engage people socially! They should never speak of their work outside the hallowed walls of whatever building they are employed within.

Intentional misinterpretation for the sake of argument, oh why am i not surprised.

It's one thing to "engage people socially" but its another thing when that's all they do.
If they're able to do that, why the hell don't they do the same on OFFICIAL discussion boards?

According to the Catalyst the Mass Relays will be destroyed whatever you choose...who is this Mike Gamble and his "tweets" to defy the Catalyst? ;)

Maybe it only destroyed that first relay it hit (Charon relay I think its called?) and then the blast weakened as it got farther and farther out and it only damaged the other relays but still left them operational.  I don't know.  Trying to make sense of space magic is fun!

Rebuilding the relays further breaks the story.

No race was close to building their own relay. They all understand how to use them, but not really the science behind it. An example: you could give someone in the 40's and iPad. They could learn to use it, but they wouldn't have any idea of how to build one.

And a dead Reaper is still dangerous. The derelict reaper had been dead at least 50,000 years. It still was able to indoctrinate Cerberus personel. So are we swapping one terrible lore breaking ending for another?

EDI isn't gone in high ems. Probably the Geth too.

I know this thread is not about it, but could someone please provide me a link where this happens (EDI survives in the Destroy ending WITHOUT being with you on the run towards the beam)

So... they're retconning their own plot all over twitter now?

Interesting...

They've been doing it for awhile now. Artistic integrity at its finest.

Car on fire is a much better analogy. I don't even believe they're not utterly broken, but what we strictly see is bits fly off. The case could be made, but is nontheless thin.

EDI surviving Control or Destruction is new to me as well. She is only there in synthetic ending when reaching EMS of <5000

They're deliberately avoiding being definitive. Why? Because that's half the point of their ending. It's open to all sorts of interpretation. So much that we've no idea what it even involves. For some reason they think that's a good thing.

Disabled ? Good. Next up; retcon the Citadel. There are many things that make Mass Effect interesting and the Citadel is also one of them. Bring it back. It's not a reaper death trap if there are no reapers. It has also existed for countless cycles and there's no reason it can't exist for hundreds of thousands of years more. Especially with the keepers maintaining it.

edit: *pretty please

- Create anti-Reaper helmets
- Everyone wears the helmets
- ????
- Lorebreaking avoided!

That's crap. We see them shatter completely just like the other endings..

Already retconning stuff eh BW?

Paragon throughout ME1, 2, and 3. Council died and Collector Base saved, no characters died (except the unavoidables) and did every mission in all games.

Then in ME3 war assets were at 7500+ with GR at 100% and I watched all color scenes. Destroy showed Shep living and Control showed relays along with the citadel NOT blowing up.

I'm a proud Destroy-ender, so as far as I'm concerned, the Citadel and the Mass Relays are better off destroyed. The races of the Galaxy have millions upon millions of years to develop similar or superior technology, now that the Reapers are gone for good.

Ridiculous. The mass relays never hindered "superior technology".
If some day civilisation recoveres from being utterly destroyed, you know what they will do?

BUILD.
MASS.
RELAYS.

I mean by your logic, the Roman roads left after the fall of the empire hindered the development of instant teleportation by Europeans.

Besides, I also remember twits from Bioware staff members saying that even FTL speed technology could be further developped. If it wasn't before, it's because the current civilizations of the galaxy relied on the Mass Relays.

In billions of years, the Reapers never developed FTL drives that were faster than double the speed of the Citadel races' drives.

Hm... Quick search comes up with CatalystMaker, CatalystCreator, CatalystLeader and SwingCatalyst.
I'm not sure whom to ask :o

Hm.. by this tweet.. I think i was MikeGambl'ed again, right?
Shame on me this time.
I hope bioware will clarify what exactly they are going to clarify. And how. May be demo-ending dlc, no?
What? I like dreaming.

I'm the one who asked him that. I always thought the relays were obliterated in the Synthesis and Destroy ending but left intact and working in the Control ending.

The way I understood his answer is that in all 3 endings, the entire relay network at the very least is rendered non-functional.

HOWEVER, the control ending has the technological advantage of having the Citadel intact and the relays DISABLED but still relatively intact.

I've tweeted him a couple more times for clarification in comparison to the other 2 endings but no response.

yeah, they are definitively blown up at all three sequences

Nope! No explosion on control, look at the youtube comparison

Notable differences @ 1:06 and 1:28

They don't totally blow up on control
