Batarian Soldier = death dealer

With maxed out Fitness, Batarian Enforced and Ballistic Blades, and Blade Armor at 5 and Inferno Grenade at 3, they are probably my favorite Soldier species, even above Krogan and Turian. The Ballistic Blades can take out 3-4 Cerberus soldiers at once (with their explosion, and the first being killed after shot point blank), and are really helpful against Centurions or Geth Hunters, for example. They're like a close range rocket launcher to me. And their melee? With Blade Armor and some Fitness options, I could kill an Atlas just by meleeing it, and very fast. Their heavy melee can one-hit Nemesis, Centurion, and Phantom, the first two at full shields and the last at almost full. Haven't tried melee on other factions, but I'm sure the Batarian will dominate there, too.
Anyone who shares the shame love for Batarians now, or just likes their inclusion in the DLC?

Seriously though, I saw the first page being dominated by Justicar and Battlemaster topics, as well as Geth topics, and thought "no Batarian love and information"? When people get around to use the Batarians, I'm sure they'll appreciate them a lot more, the Soldier is phenomenal so far and fresh!

agree with most everything on melee. but the time for heavy takes way too long and I usually get staggered in the middle of it. so i usually do the light melee (much cooler anyways)
but equipped with the striker and damage/capacity bonuses it kills everything in sight. (note that the striker is very similar to falcon, but when you hold down the trigger it increases fire rate. so obviously put capacity and damage mods on it. I also use Geth SMG as secondary (NASTY ASS GUN BTW) build is 6/0/6/6/6. with damage protection more than damage in armor, damage and barrier/shield damage in net. and health/shields on fitness.
can't wait for soldier though, that hand cannon is sick

Also, their sprinting speed is equal or even greater than the Drell's! But, they cannot roll, but that's not really a huge problem, especially if you're playing as a Krogan/Turian.
EDIT: I just one-hit with heavy melee a Marauder. Still, on Bronze.

Melee is very powerful. Even stronger than krogan's, which I don't understand. Ballistic blades are difficult to use. Decent class and better than human/turian soldier on gold. Not really impressed.
IDK, did you SEE those buffs they just gave Human Soldier?!?
Adrenaline Rush is now a VERY decent defensive power.

So what happens if you spec blade armor for maximum melee damage returned to the enemy, and then get hit by a brute?
I want to see that. But a Batarian versus a Brute? Pfft. Brute is going down.

The brute probably gets staggered, takes a ton of damage, and goes "wtf?!"
Apparently, if a Phantom uses her impale attack on a batarian Soldier, she instantly dies afterward.

I never really liked the Batarians as a race. They were finely written, but not my taste. But after I unlocked the Batarian Soldier, I have reconsidered. If the whole race is like the random Soldier I'm using, then wow, they really are death dealers and a powerful force.

unfortunately on Bronze, Krogan can also easily melee kill atlases and brutes

I'm using the Phaeston, but that's just personal preference. It's fast and has good damage output, and it's not really inaccurate for a machine gun.

I think more clearly it should be "Ballistic Blade Rock But Are Impossible To Aim". When you go to shoot them your body moves right across your view so you have to guess where the enemy is. This is why I HATE third person shooters tbh... and they didn't even use the transparent body trick to at least help you see.
If Mass Effect was first person (or gave you a choice) it would be LOADS better than it is and would make playing the Batty Soldier a lot more fun (and useable). Trying to see through the back of your own head is totally a pain in the ass.

I think the most damage that can be returned to the attacker is 75%, but don't quote me on that. I had a Geth Hunter hit me with melee to test it, and with each hit, 3 bars of his went down.

Well sorry, but I'm going to quote you on it. You can actually return 150% damage if you choose the upgrade for it.

Doesn't help that the crosshairs are horrible. Really noticable on Condor where they are like the same color as the background, I wish you could change it.

Yup, you are correct, I forgot about that second "return another 75% damage to the attacker" upgrade. I only bought one to balance it out and forgot about it. So, I imagine that, if at 150%, it's really damn powerful. It returns the damage received wholly, plus another half of it. Brutes are in for a treat with it.I-am-Biwinning wrote...
