However, I have come to believe that Bioware can't or wont change the outcome of the endings (mass relay network destroyed, control, destroy, synthesis). I think they need/want that ending as the backdrop to ME4 and it is also possible that they may have started production on it based on those ending options.
I think those posibilties would be more accpetable if they changed how those choices where presented to us. This is where I think the game did itself the most harm since the way the Starchild presendted those choices. So flash back to your first playthru of ME3 and as you go up to meet the Starchild this happeneds instead:
Child: Wake Up!
Sheppard: Who? What are you?
Child: I am the Crucible, I choose this image when I scanned your mind. Its at the forefront of your toughts.
If I am here it means that you have managed to complete the design we left behind and that I am cuurently docked with the Catalyst of the Mass Relays. I need your input for the final sequence.
This would now be the point where your diagole whell comes up with an 'Investigate Option'.
Sheppard: Who designed you?
Child: I was designed by the same race that became the 'reapers'.
Sheppard: The same race?
Child: Yes, we where in a war with the synthethics we had created. Becoming what you called 'reapers' ensured our victory but our cost was to high.
Sheppard: How?
Child: We lost the ability to evolve. What we where is all that we could ever hope to be. Many of us accepted our new stagnet condition but others did not.
Sheppard: Harbringer
Child: Yes the one you call Harbringer stablished the cycle. Other races in our time where evloving, maturing he saw that they would one day surpass us. Harbringer south out the most advanced race and used the same process we used to make them into a reaper. Their integration into our race allow for a small form of evolution.
Child: Not all of us agreed, we did not have 'concensuss' as your Geth would say. As a result we where exterminated. As our final act of deffiance we sent the plans for the Crucible to the most advanced race at the time.
Sheppard: How do you work? How do I stop the reapers?
Child: The reaper 'conciouness' operates via the mass relay network. This is our vulnevarility. The control node is over there if you destroy I can overload the reaper code and they and any sythetic life using our code will be destroyed. However there are other posibilities.
Sheppard: Such as?
Child: I have detected that design changes have been made form the original plan we sent. It now possible to replace the reaper conciousness. Over there is a catalyst station we used when we became 'reapers'. I can adjust it so you can replace the mind of Harbringer. You could comand the reapers after that.
