Hey guys, just bought DAO yesterday and was unable to install it. I get about 95% of the way through the install before it encounters a corrupt file and aborts. I have tried copying to hard drive and install from there but same thing. I would take it back for a replacement disc but shop is over an hour away where I work.
Can anyone pls let me know where I might be able to download a copy of the file epi_shale.fsb
campaign_vo_english.rar\\modules\\single player\\audio\\vo\\en-us\\vo\\epi_shale.fsb
Appologies if this has been posted before but the search function wasn't working properly
Cheers
Dave

Yes, it's already thoroughly covered in numerous threads, and yes the SEARCH isn't worth spit.
One or another tool that EA chose to use, maybe more, is / are extraordinarily sensitive / unstable, and the slightest smudge on the disk, the smallest bit of lint on the drive mirror, the merest tiny deviation from the ATAPI standard in your DVD drive's firmware, and it aborts.
When the game was new, I had three PCs running that could each "probably" run the game, and all had DVD drives, but only the very oldest system's DVD passed the install program's flakiness, and I didn't want to start playing with only the single GB of RAM that one had in it a month ago.
Installing from the Hdd had not worked for me, but my PCs are on a LAN at home here, and I was able to run the install across the LAN, and it worked that way. What I would do, if the disk is sanitarily clean, and so is your DVD drive, is check with all your friends / family for an external DVD drive to borrow and use, long enough to get the game installed.

Hello all
I've just managed to solve the installation data error - for me at least.
I took out all but one 2gb stick of RAM, and tried again and this time the installation works!
I don't know if this is because my pc was previously getting freaked out by the full 12gb of RAM I had, or if some of my RAM is actually faulty. I'll run memtest to find out.
Anyway, perhaps this is something to try: try the installation with the bare minimum of RAM installed on your machine - worked for me

It's still the exact same thing, the disk just isn't compatible with some DVD drives, so if you cannot swap drives, you need to find out how to download the digital copy from the EA store, using the CD Key as your code to unlock the download. I don't know the exact procedure involved, sorry.sidthegreat wrote...

Incidentally, if you have the hard copy of the game, and have jumped the gun, getting the expansion before a useful patch for it is ready, the disk check will start looking for the Awakening disk instead of the DA disk.

I can't help you if there's a disk scratch on the file that won't load. I do know that some Windows functions are more rigorously designed than others. Sometimes you can copy from the DVDs to folders on your hard disk and install from there. If that fails, get the digital version, as already referenced here (above).
