This bug is so pernicious I can restart on the planet from a prior save and *still* encounter the bug. It happens after viewing the stasis pod signal video on Eden Prime in the "From Ashes" DLC.
From what I've gathered on the forums here's some relevant info:
1.) This is a Mass Effect 3 character import for an insanity run.
2.) Liara's submachine gun is Level X.
Other potentially relevant info for the repro:
3.) I have James and Liara in my party. I'm doing this mission before completing the Palavan mission.
4.) I was not offered the option to download the recently announced patch for freezing issues so this is shipping code
Furthermore, during my first playthrough of Mass Effect I encountered freezing issues, typically while loading save game files or transitioning between maps and the lobby in multiplayer. Since this is an XBox console there's no way for me to collect crash dump information.
I have to say between this and SWTOR i'm going to have to revisit my "automatic pre-order" response to Bioware titles.
