I commend Bioware of for a social stand and a very Canadian social stand. They have produced a series of games (Mass Effect and Dragon Age) that has pushed boundaries. Not only have they allowed homosexual characters in their games they also allow inter-racial and inter-species relationships. If this was the 1960's there would be huge uproar over that. No, this is the year 2012. Times have changed and the staff at Bioware are intrumental in allowing change.
The players of Dragon Age Origins who made countless mods to the game. Some mods allowed your male Grey Warden to marry King Alister and be his love mate. Other allowed you to have free wheeling relationship with other NPC's regardless. The huge mod concerning Roland is a fine example. To me, such mods say that the community wants these things. The communiity wants the freedom to express their views within the game. Bioware allows this and for that I take my hate off to them.
Thank you Bioware for being honest in your endeavers and producing great games that do more than entrall us with their tales and wonderful characters.

Note, I'm not gay and do not have any 'agenda', I simply feel that gay people should be treated equally to anyone else.

I saw it reported on BBC Three whilst watching Family Guy and I was like DAFUQ?
Stop spreading hate and focus on the LOVE! Bioware are doing great things for homosexual representation in gaming, they deserve a rainbow cookie. xD

It's very likely the complaints are coming from people who don't actually play the games. The kind of people who hear that the game has "teh gays!" and object on principle. Back when the first Mass Effect game there were complaints about an apparent "graphic sex scene" - of course these complaints were coming from people who not only hadn't played the game, but didn't know a damn thing about video games in general.
>_> Probably had little idea about sex in general as well. Give me an hour watching TV comercials and I'll show you atleast 30 minutes of stuff that was worse about sex than the ME1 scean

-Fallout 3 had gay characters, and sold more than ME3 ever will, yet no outbursts from "anti-gay" people mad the press.
-Fallout New Vegas: Same story, only there were even more gay characters, still no controversy.
-Catherine: Pretty thick gay/transgender stuff with Erica, no controversy
-Indeed, MGS2 had Vamp, no controversy in the press there, And it was clearly a bigger commercial success than ME3.
All of a sudden, there is outrage over ME3, when both ME1 and ME2 also had gay characters? And right after EA gets the golden poo award? In the face of all this ending drama and other crap EA ha been pulling?
Yeah, I smell a serious rat here. Bigotry is bad and should always be condemned, but I know exploitation when I see it. If EA really cares about Bigotry, why didn't they condemn the people complaining about Liara and the Asari race when ME1 came out? Or speak out against the people who bashed them for Kelly Chambers or the implied attraction Mordin may have had with Male Sheperd when ME2 came out?
I'd commend them if I thought they really cared, as I am pro-gay as it gets, but I just don't buy it.

Although I did really hate Zevran from DAO...that guy was sooooo frigin annoying...his aggressive sexual advances just added to his grating personality...I think that these kinda things can be resolved when Bioware or whoever makes it so that characters don't assume you are interested in them just because you talk to them in the game....

Just because the thought of two dudes grosses you out doesn't mean that people who lean that way should be left out or discriminated against, that's how I see it anyway. Honestly in a game at least, as long as they're not throwing it in my face I'm cool with it.
I don't understand your comment... I am a lesbian, my FemShep was a lesbian, and was approached several times by guys (Kaiden, Jacob and Vega come to mind first, with Vega being the most aggressive). Would you say they threw their heterosexuality in my face?

Just give it another century.
Also, that's hardly a "canadian stance" and more of a non-american stance. But I can see why you would emphasize that given your proximity.
