i've just encountered my first hacker in this game :-/
he had noclip mode on and went to areas of the map where it's impossible to get
he also altered our teams' shield recharge delay to a few milliseconds so you basically couldn't die (with the exception of the phantom/banshee killing animation)

since PS3 support is practically non-existent I presume there's no way to report guys like that, or am I wrong?

@cynicalandbored They usually have a pc, most of the time running linux which allows for better control of network communication, and they use it to modify game variables to their liking.

Wow, that gets really technical. How would a PC person be able to get into the console version of the game, though? Because if that's the case, maybe at some point we could (finally) get cross-platform MP. That'd be awesome.

That's the thing. they don't use one, if you mean a PC version of the game atleast. There's usually a pc monitoring all the data sent and received by the console, PS3 in our case, and with a script it makes sure you're playing  with something similar to god mode of other games, ie, messes with hp, shields, weapon damage, disables player death, wall clipping, ammo, gravity etc.

Edit: posting half asleep sure doesn't help spelling lol

How are they getting access to the Profile? Its locked to your idps..even with a hardware flasher that would be a time consuming annoying way to cheat..just curious.

What you're referring at would work in the single player portion of the game, multiplayer isn't saved at the same place as regular saves, at least from what I've seen. Besides, any proper multiplayer system verifies stuff server-side.

I encountered a cheater today and reported him. When I joined his game I had 999 ammo on my carnifex and it was almost impossible to die because of the shield delay. Just the instants from brutes and banshees could kill someone.

A couple of days ago I ran into what I assume to be my first hacker as well:

While waiting for a spot to open up on my regular gold groups I decided to run some of my level 1 classes through some pick-up bronze matches. I got placed into a game already in progress. There was only one other player (unfortunately can't remember their tag). It was round 2. When round 3 started we got the hack objective (fitting). I ran to the zone and was standing in there all alone. I couldn't understand why the other player wasn't getting into the hack zone with me. Instead they continued to run around and rack up kills. I thought, "Screw this, I'm not going to finish this objective on my own." I left the zone and waited for mission failure. "This will teach him to be a team player," I thought to myself. Suddenly, with the bar only 1/3 to 1/2 full, we got the "Hack successful" message and credits came up with no one even in the zone to complete the hack. I seem to remember it giving 9,000 credits as well (although I may be wrong). That seems a little high for round 3 on bronze right? I immediately quit the game at that point.

After playing some silver matches today i wish i could get one of those guys on my team. Its getting annoying as hell when 3 people see a grenade lobbed into the middle of their little circle jerk dont move then all die.
