Mass effect wouldn't be mass effect to me without Jennifer Hale... my wife and I are huge fans of voice actors and know many of the popular voice actors who voice video games anime and everything... I can say honestly that Jennifer Hale delivered the best performance I've ever heard in any media format. Absolutely brilliant Jennifer! Good job and thank you!

Your wife would not happen to be a picture with a few candles around it would she?

Maybe it's because she's a chick that people applaud her, I dunno.

Yeah, I'm going to go ahead and agree with this... People going overboard about it doesn't make any sense... I've done the whole Femshep thing, it's not groundbreaking...

There are a couple reasons that people like the female Shepard.

First, because the game doesn't do a lot of gender recognition - basically just pronouns, maybe a few line changes - there's a real sense of gender equality. Remember, there is true equality only when people stop noticing a difference. It's feminist, in a sense, but not in a way that bothers people.

Second, Hale puts quite a bit of emotion into her acting. Some people like this, other people don't, but especially in the first and second games she sounds a lot more involved than Meer. Personally, I like it.

i dont get the jennifer hale overlove. i didnt find her performance any better or worse than malesheps. shrug

Same here, I always found her to be overacting just a tad, while Meer kind of underacted. Except for ME3, he was pretty decent then.

Hale is spectacular. i can't imagine anyone else bringing Commander Shepard to life like her. It's amazing how she can make Shep sound like the nicest woman in the galaxy and the biggest b**** in the galaxy. It takes skill to pull both off as well a she does. Congrats miss Hale!

One of the reasons I play female Shepard is because of her voice acting. Aside for playing a female character in most games that allow it. I think her voice acting was better than Mark Meer's male Shepard voice acting. His is emotions and what not are not convincing and it sounds forced. like watching a bad Original Sci-Fi channel B-movie acting lol.

Jennifer Hale's is I think seriously underrated. She really deserves a lot of credit. Especially since this is first time they actually kind of advertise a female Shepard with the new Mas Effect. She really deserves some recognition.

Yeah, Hale really nailed it this time. In ME2 she sounded too bored and too horny. She did awesome though. Poor Meer, never gets any love.

Love her performances as Shepard and Samus. She's amazingly talented, as is most all of the ME3 voice cast.

I have to be honest of losing interest in Male Shepard because Hale's voice acting was so stellar. ^_^

Female Shepard is just more appealing to play because of her voice actress.

I'm sorry, but Meer's got her beat for "You big stupid Jellyfish".
Like both Sheps though.

No Jennifer Hale. No thanks for you! You were, in fact, too good. If only you had been a mediocre voice actor. Oh, the angst I could have been spared!

Incidentally, would you mind speaking into this nifty little seashell here? What's that? Is this the seashell that Ursula used to steal Ariel's voice in the Little Mermaid? Of course not!

I love Jennifer Hale! <3
TBH, I liked her work in ME1 better than that in ME2...in the second game, I thought she overdid it (Jacob romance dialogue tone, anyone, ugh!)
But in ME3 she has recaptured the magic of ME1...I always play a Femshep 'cause I love her :)

All the voice actors did a damn good job.

Except Diana Aller's VA. She did not seem on par with everyone,

That Elcor you did a mission for had more emotion than her. Sheesh.

My favorite Hale delivery ever has to be when meeting the Thorian in ME1:

"This could be...problematic." XD

Jennifer if you ever read this, thanks for making the Mass Effect experience so awesome for me. Ever since "feels like the morning after shore leave" you had me hooked. Never looked back.

I've always played Femshep through all 3 games. When I started a Maleshep recently, I could tell the difference in the amount of emotion in their voices. For instance, on Mars, you're running after Eva Core in pursuit. You almost got her! But there's a shuttle waiting for her and she's getting away!

Jennifer Hale conveys a sense of urgency and desperation in her voice as she yelled: "James? Normandy? Anyone??!!"

Mark Meer's, by contrast, was a calm: "James? Normandy? Anyone?"

Maybe the voice director felt that a man needs to be calm and in control of his feelings even in dire circumstances, while a woman is allowed to inject more emotions.

Mark has a great range, too, as evident in the vorcha voices as well as the male prostitude in DA2. So I believe the more monotone performance as Maleshep is a result of the voice direction.
