I followed your build, but went with electric net damage, instead of shields and barrier. I wanted to give it some auxilliary CC damage.

Using just a Mattock II.

Currently playing Gold. I think I'm more of a liabilty to my team than a help. :(

Try having a lighter build. So you can spam net. If you stay away from the initial firefight and spam that (especially at bos mobs you will do wonders for your team. Especially on geth

Is having BA always on w/o the +30% CD reduction going to be a noticeable difference with ~200% CD?

A little bit. If i know our defenses are collapsing i will activate it, but if i am casting from afar with no immedieate threat i will leave it off because its fractionally faster

In my experience, this class is highly dependent on the quality of your weapon. And that weapon is not the striker, IMO. I doubled my score by dropping that stupid gun and replacing it with a Vindicator X. Dead enemies > dazed enemies.

I kinda agree very much, I think you should choose your weapon depending on how you play him and my personal choice would be Vindicator X (though I only have it at V and am thus using carnifex IV)

Stasis bubble > Net. End of story. You can nab 2-3 geth hunters with the bubble and send a warp their way which makes them drop to the ground. The stasis bubble cannot be dodged, geth hunters can dodge your net and then be prepared to get stun locked to death. Phantoms will dodge the net because unlike overload, stasis, reave its not insta travel ability.

Fire the net at the phantom. She dodges, your dead. Fire stasis at the phantom, frozen in time, warp bomb ready. Blade armour is nothing special and shockwave is still broken and is really in need of patching.

That's quite a quick way to value the character as bad.
While I agree with your End of the story, net shouldnt be compared to stasis imo. In a way, there's the same thought behind these 2 powers yet one does what the other one cannot.

Now let's say that (for absurd) you wanna give batarian sentinel a try: you don't like blade armor, neither do I on the sentinel, so you respec and go 0-6-6-6-6. You're gonna have a low cooldown power and a significantly not-so-low one (-Net, because you'd want damage&slow at rank 4 and not rechargespeed). Now what's gonna happen is that you're gonna find at least 3 valuable uses for submission net, you're also gonna use it when it's just better doing so rather than just firing your weapon when shockwave isn't in range. And you're gonna like it.
This is assuming you or the detractors generally going 'phantomz dodge dem netz stasis
> net rotflmao' actually do give the batarian sentinel a chance.

Net by the way works like a projectile power and can affect enemies behind cover or a corner easily than warp could (at the cost of slower deployment) thanks to electric field and net's homing properties. Also it will either hit another target or just lay on the ground if it misses.

Try playing him vs reapers along with a drell adept and an asari justicar both specced for aoe Reave, equip incendiary ammo and maybe vindicator X, enjoy the multiple biotic explosion you're supposed to detonate with each shockwave, enjoy the fire explosions detonated by flamed enemies killed by biosplosions. Enjoy net's brutal slow vs brutes, they're never gonna be a threat if you net em asap. Oh and let's not talk about justicar's bubble+shockwave °o°
He has 1238health/shields with maxed survivability fitness(because fitness sucs) and is hands down the best possible detonator character using shockwave. Maybe not if you hate him for not being able to roll/sidestep.

I spec'd my shockwave damage/reach/lift. Damage and reach are mandatory imho: radius rank 4 is bugged(on PC at least) and makes shockwave be like a falcon when you're not host(just worse), and you really need reach much much more than biosplosion strength because #you really can't reach much without the reach upgrade and #you're gonna simultaneously detonate multiple biotic explosion thanks to Reach so it very much makes up for that. I like Lift because it makes drell's Pull obsolete with that team mindset.
I took some ideas from this gameplay video by Jumpin (although 'tis on x360, and you can't get rank 4 radius like he does if you're on pc)
, so you can click to pretty much see in action what I typed (there's also a silver gameplay with commentary).
Honestly I like shockwave very much and submission net is my favourite power in the game hands down. If shockwave also rapes your sniper's patience, just carry a shotgun infiltrator along, it's gonna have more synergy with that kind of team anyway.

edit:

The sheer number of biotic explosions you can set off with shockwave spam is insane ... especially if its with AE Reave or Warp bubble. Shockwave also creates a virtual wall that the enemy just can't seem to pass when you can spam it every 1-2 seconds. Plus shockwave can be used through walls and obsticles to hit/stagger targets.

This! So true, so good. So brutal.

p.s.: today i had a game where human adept fell and said "they got me!!", so my Batarian, half a sec later, goes above her and sadistically goes: "_I_ got you!!"
had a good laugh rofl

Query: What's the range on shockwave? Unlocked the BS(lol) today and am loving submission net, it has an advantage over stasis on that it won't break on damage, applies a steady dot effect, can be arced around corners, and has a nice little electric field which can cause a helpful aoe stun among enemies. But yeah, back to this ones question, it seems you can't set up tech bursts at long range, meaning you have to get up close to submission net and shockwave, which is risky even for a batarian, why not invest in the power that enhances the range of shockwave?

Also, some say only to apply blade armor when engaging enemies at short range, when at mid or long range it should be disabled as it kills your cast times...what say you?

Net is good but the uber long firing time stinks. The armor sucks since it stops melee but that's not an upside for me. Shockwave is always a shakey power. I disliked the class immensely.

youre kidding right?

my cd is like 3 seconds if you take the evolved cool down talent i loove how it is with the electric added to the net.

as for the blade armor i think its the most useless talent out there i only put 3 points into it since you really wont have need for it if you  neting people and  snipeing them from a distance

Shokwave, the longest it will go is 15 meters if you take that evolution. And I would agree about the blade armor. If you are casting from afar I leave it off but say a phantom rushes in or we get overrun I switch it on. It also doesn't tremendously hurt the CD but enough to notice.

Blade armor is alright, it's helpful in staggering brutes, no need to even set up a pesky biotic combo either.

Spec: 6/3/6/6/6

blade armor:damage red/dmg return/dmg reduction
shockwave: 3 points
submission net: incapacitate/dmg slow/electric field
batarian enforcer: dmg capacity/power dmg/wpn dmg ammo
fitness:shield bonus/shield recharge

Anything worth changing? Some say blade armor is better used with a Batarian soldier, as it synergizes well with the use of the close range ballistic blades ability.

This was mentioned before the the update. The CD then was kinda lengthy

Anybody know if the radius level 4 shockwave selection is broken for 360?

I'm curious about that too. I found the class pretty garbage when I tried it out, but the buff to the net has me interested again. I would think that Radius shockwave, if it does work, would make him a pretty good CC class--AOE stagger from shockwave or single-target stasis/damage with the net.

I haven't noticed anything wrong with it on 360.

And as I posted in a couple of other threads, I'm dying to try a new melee/power spam build for this class I thought of, where I basically max all skills except Batarian Enforcer which gets ignored entirely. I'll take a Hornet with ammo power for 200% cooldown and decent damage in spite of no points into the passive (weapons won't be my focus anyway). I'll fling powers at my enemies in between Hornet bursts and spec into more melee damage whenever possible so as to ensure I kill when I get my punches in whenever I can (ie after disrupting the shiznit out of my enemies with Shockwave spam and nets).

*Fingers crossed it's finally the build I've been looking for to really love this class.

The problem with net is it's lack lustre damage, time for the net to actually fire after you've pressed the button. Shockwave should be completely removed from the class.

I tried my best at it and did well... I just felt that almost any other class could've done it better.

Shockwave isn't bad without the radius upgrade. Yeah I know most of you hate shockwave but it isn't anybody's fault if you don't like biotic teams/detonating stuff.
Anyway you're better off relying on a teammate if you want a tech burst off your net since batarian powers travel slow. 3-Chain overload would be best I suppose.

With only 3 points shockwave is pretty much just a panic button useful to harass enemies through covers/wall. Without biotic detonations shockwave is only good for tickling after all.

It’s been great reading all of this spec talk on the Batarian Sentinel as I have been toying with what build will work best for my play style but I’m extremely torn about which way to go. I have a Power Reset card and am thinking of using it based on feedback I can get here. The advice is great appreciated.

Right now I’m running:
6/5/6/6/3
Blade Armor 6: damage reduction/damage return/cooldown reduction
Shockwave 5: force and damage/increased detonation
Submission Net 6: Incapacitate/Slow/Shock
Enforcer 6: capacity/power damage/damage and ammo
Fitness 3

Weapons:
Carnifex VI – Scope/Pen and Barrel mods
Geth SMG III – ULM and ammo mods

I’ve only been playing in Silver so far as I don’t have a team to play gold with but I have been doing ok. Not great though, just decent. Not having a reliable partner to play off my netting has been detrimental to being able to really shine. I’ve played my Turian Sentinel a ton and he seems more autonomous when I need him to be though my Batarian has shot his share of dudes in the head.

My questions are where can/should I think about making changes to this build

Blade Armor is fairly potent when it works and significantly less so when it doesn’t. Some seem to be in favor of ditching it, some leave it on and some “stance dance” with it to gain and lose powers as required. If one stays at 200% power recharge and takes the 30% power penalty reduction how much of a difference do you actually see? I also see people in favor of ditching the armor entirely in favor of Fitness which I am curious about. Do you find certain situations you miss it on silver or gold?

Shockwave is another controversial one that I am curious where people stand. My initial intent was to use shockwave as a detonation tool in close quarters to increase throughput on heavies that push into defensive positions (and when I can spare it when on the offensive). This is why I opted for the detonation however I’m finding actually reaching the target with shockwave is incredibly difficult so I may opt for range and go for a more reliable tech burst at the cost of reducing its effectiveness. If I did opt out of Blade Armor I would be able to push Shockwave to rank 6. Do people find that worthwhile?

Submission Net – My initial desire is for the net to be a solid CC tool holding mobs in as long as possible so it can provide crowd control while other enemies are dealt with. The same logic applies to the slow and shock. I’ve seen some advocating damage perks all the way when upgrading this power and I’d love to know how that has worked out on harder difficulties.

I enjoy playing a support class and honestly I don’t need to be top points in a game if I’m proving useful and racking up assists all over the place.

The last question that I have, not necessarily related to the Batarian Sentinel is play groups on Origins. I’ve generally a Steam player and have some friends on it but no clan of any kind. Only one acquaintance plays ME3 so I don’t have any team or organized group to run with. Are there any origins groups people can join that anyone would recommend? I’d really like to get into a group that has a desire to run organized premade games. I feel like the added synergy and communication would allow for more support classes I like to play to be useful.
