I am currently working on an evil, nonhostile NPC who happens to like to currupt priest and clerics. When she first meets the PC she starts asking about the PC's religion and the deity he/she follows. There are several options but one is tell your chosen deity. I am doing some specific deity responses but I can't do all 108 deities.

So my question to you is what are your favorite deities, the couple you are most likely to follow in game?

I can't promise I'll write a response for every deity mentioned but I will attempt to get a good variety.

I have just started writing my responses so I don't have a lot yet, but here are the deities done:

Ao
Bane
Corellon Larethian
Eilistraee
Garl Glittergold
Gruumsh
Helm
Hoar
Illmater
Kossuth
Lathander
Lloth
Loviatar
Malar
Mask
Moradin
Mystra
Selune
Shar
Silvanus
Sseth
Sune
Tempus
Talos
Torm
Tymora
Tyr
Umberless
Velsharoon
Yondalla
Elemental Deities
Dwarven Deities
Elven Deities
Drow Deities
Gnome Deities
Halfling Deities
Orc Deities
Catch All

**I will update as I complete deities

When I play genasi, I tend to pick the elemental deities.
My rogues tend to pick Mask. Azuth/Mystra for arcane types.

Correllon is a popular elven deity, head of the pantheon. In fact you might want to pick the head deity of each of the non-human races.

Thanks for the replies, Kamal, Pain and Arkalezth. I have added your suggestions, still have a few more to write up.I have also gone and added a few more deities that the companions follow or are mentioned in the campaign so far.

I have a pretty healthy list so far, but if your favorite deity is missing speak out soon if you want to have a custom reply....or just suffer with the generic catch all, it is up to you.

Tempus makes a good general-purpose deity, since his neutrality allows all kinds of warriors to worship him (although clerics must be chaotic).

Has no-one mentioned any of the dwarven deities? Vergadain (the merchant / luck / trickster god) is a good choice for non-evil dwarven rogues, while Abbathor (god of greed) is the best choice for evil (non-duergar) dwarves.

Hoar, is the most interesting deity to me. It's also a good choice for Stormlords. I wish there were a module devoted to Hoar like The Maimed God's Saga is to Tyr.

But, I will play RH2 with my Strong Heart Halfling Warlock who worships Tymora, which I used in RH1.

I also use Lathander, for Woodelf str based war and magic clerics. Which is not just power gamey, but, an interesting angle to me also.

I would love to explore some serious Hoar content. But, I will not replay for just a few lines. I would replay if the difference in Deity had serious impact. So, I'll not ask you to take the time to put in content that I will not use.

Off hand, Silvanus, Meilikki, Lurue, Angharrad, and Chuantea are deities I find interesting to one degree or another.

But, Hoar tops the list. But, .....

I guess, it boils down to, what themes do you want to explore. Then, picking the deities to represent those themes.

I like Hoar myself when I'm playing a certain type of char.  My char in Dark Avenger right now worships this god.  As for a The Maimed God Saga, would love to see an evil version of this.  Shar would rock as it is my evil mages main god for some reason.

This.

And this. I might replay it as I replayed RH1 with a different character type, but not just to get a few different lines regarding the deity.

That said, just to add something, Bane is popular among evil bastards, as is Mielikki among tree hugers. Maybe Tymora, Waukeen, Cyric...? Umberlee and the elemental deities may also fit certain characters (Kossuth is probably the most likely for me among those).

What about atheists/no deity? Would this NPC annoy them too? If so, I'd put it on the list.

I'm thinking more about deities that are likely to be played in general, rather than by me personally. But again, I wouldn't like to put too much effort on you, so take this with a grain of salt.

Thanks for these replies, they are definately a help.

The PC has three responses.
-A defiant I'm not telling you; These leads to a mocking the the PC's convictions and bragging about how easy it is to corrupt even the most devote.
-A denial of following any god; Again mocking
-Tell god if the player has a deity; She will then mock a number of the deities with a general statement to catch all the all the ones not included.

I would not suggest replaying with another character with a different deity. This is essential a 1 or 2 line response to add a bit of flavor. Chapter 2 is exploring more of the good and evil choices, without offer a true good or evil path.

It would certainly lend itself well to double entendres. Image IPB

PC: "My father worshiped Hoar."
NPC: "So you're a son of a Hoar worshiper?"
PC: "Leave my mother out of this. And don't call me 'worshiper'!"

I always play drow, druids and rangers, so I go for Elistraee and nature deities.

Azuth or Ao.

Perhaps you could possibly cover all deities. You could possibly use the Alignment of the PC's deity to formulate an appropriate response. You could simplify this to 3 choices: good, evil, neutral, or make it a little more complex by mixing in the lawful/chaotic modifiers. You could even use the deity token to make it look like there is an answer for every deity.

So I would imagine it like this. The pc's deity is Lolth. Write a script to recognize that Lolth is evil, the script will return the proper integer to signal the conversation to fire the evil node, or the chaotic evil node. Then the NPC will say something that would "corrupt" a follower of lolth like:

"Hey, lets go sing to raise money for the wood elves! Wouldn't that be fun? I've got candy in my unmarked white wagon!"

So I think I am done and once again it has been overdone, but oh well. Most of the deities mentioned above have there own

Mat I have grouped the deities towards the end if they aren't one of the specific deities. They are grouped by racial pantheon. Then I am considering doing a evil & a good group then the catch all for the rest. This will give 42-44 unique responses depending on how I split it up, which is at least twice as many as I have originally planned for.
