I had fun using the Mako.
I think ME3 horde mode is overrated and monotonous.
I like Kaiden and Ashley as characters, as well as their growth.
Garrus is cool, but Wrex will always be Shep's number one bro.
Didn't really mind the Tali photoshop at all.
Will never understand why she's in the game, but I didn't mind Allers all that much.
Would gladly and happily replace any ME companions for Urz the Varren.
Javik was the best possible addition and should have been introduced earlier in the franchise history.
ME1 had the best implemented cover system.
ME3 had the worst implemented cover system.
ME2 had the best score of the three games.

Thats all I can think of right now.

 - ME1 > ME2 (though not by much)
 - Tali is kind of annoying, and I hardly ever take her on missions or talk to her, in any of the 3 games.
 - Jacob's mission was by far my favorite loyalty mission in ME2
 - Cerberus is kind of a lame enemy.  Evil corporations in general tend to make for lame villains.
 - Human-Alien romances don't make any biological sense, and shouldn't be included in the games.  I'm okay with the Asari, because it's kind of hand-waved away with the mind-melding thing, but even that is iffy.
 - The human reaper was pretty cool.
 - The voice acting for both Shepards is lacking.  Too flat in places where Shepard needs to show some emotion.

Tali is boring.
Shepard should have been able to kill Jack on Purgatory.

-Mako was the best possible option for resource collecting and side-mission interactions, we should have kept our mouths shut because their "solutions" were worse in both cases.

-Can live with the Tali photoshop and no in-game reveal, more important things are wrong with ME3.

-Preferred the inventory system of ME1 for one reason alone; on my 3rd playthrough, I found the Geth Rifle for the first time (whether I'd picked it up in other playthroughs and not noticed or it was new, I don't know). I proceeded to use it and it alone for the remainder of the game. It's when I can play a game for a 3rd time, years later, and be finding new things that I feel totally immersed in the universe. As a result of this one change, both ME2 & ME3 feel more like rail shooters. I know I'm not going to find anything new in a future playthough of either.

- EDI takes far too many risks in both ME2 & ME3 for the sake of her own development that she is never called on, particularly in ME3 when she just puts herself into a Cerberus android without talking about it with anyone and, in doing so, shuts down key systems for a few seconds.

- Male Shepherd is better than Female Shepherd.

- People who are worried about looking at "a guy's ass" for the duration of the game have issues with their sexuality that they need to address. I'm not looking at the characters ass while I'm playing the game, I'm looking at the GAME.

-Mass Effect 1 was the best in the series.
-Mass Effect 2 was an excellent game, but it could never capture the magic of ME1.
-Mass Effect 3 was pretty bad, on several accounts.
-Tali is rather boring, "Talimancers" are largely lonely nerds with an unfulfilled fantasy of boning a like minded shy and lonely nerd(who happens to be attractive).

1. I preferred ME1's combat over the others if I want to play a pure FPS I'll stick with COD, Halo or Gears. I bought Mass Effect to try something new.

2. Hate side quests that are timed or disappear from the inventory after a certain point imo it does not create a sense of urgency it feels more like your railroading me down a linear path.

3. I actually loved the Mako vehicle sections and finding minerals while exploring the planet instead of just scanning from orbit.

4. Lack of full armor customization for both myself and squadmates such as sizes of armor (Light/Medium/Heavy), variety of armor available (N7/Predator/Colossus,etc), being able to toggle helmets off/on in both conversations and combat.

5. I had no problems with Jacob and enjoyed having him on my squad.

6. Hale's acting is overrated on these forums.

7. I admire the VS' ability to stand there ground and question Shepard on his bs instead of blindly following them into battle.

8. Never really cared for Liara or Tali they were both very meh imo.

Wow I am out of touch i guess after reading the lists so far but ok here goes, dons flame suit.

I hated the combat mechanics in ME2 and ME3 one key designed to do multiple things, no crouch, no jump, and cover mechanics are a "cover" for lousey combat encounter design. Kiting a brute and getting glued to an object because you were trying to sprint past it and got too close, which resulted in many many critical mission failures as i was "under cover" in the open, nonsense complete nonsense.

It is the future and i still have to scrounge the battle field like some mud crawling grunt in Vietnam or Korea, policing up spare ammmo and frags, its the future for christ's sakes, i can travel the entire galaxy in mere moments and i am still having to scrounge ammo, Seriously?

I eventually dialed the skill back to the bottom and rendered the sloppy, poorly executed and realized combat mechanics to irrelevance and the game was playable. Ammo was not an issue, getting glued to "cover" was not an issue, the DA2 like drop in spawn of enemies was not an issue once i renderd the combat to insignifigance. I had to fight two adversaries in every combat encounter the enemies and the poorly designed combat mechanics.

**** before you design future combat mechanics try looking at a game that actually has good combat mechanics like Left for Dead, CounterStrike, even Fallout New Vegas perhaps and if you insist on a cover mechanic make it optional by providing a seperate key for cover as well as use, sprint and jump. I know it was necessary due to the limited functionability of the console controller, but if i wantd to play a brain dead console game i would have a brain dead console instead of a 4000 dollar PC i custom built. ****

I did like this version of the customize options as far as the weapons and the load outs went. I could drop the useless shotgun and carry what i wanted, and what was interesting was weight had an effect so dropping the shotgun actually made my soldier Shepard better.

Tali and the Quarians are, were, and will probably be, over rated, forever.
Loved EDI and the Joker story especially the synthesis ending.
Being chased by reapers was an interesting galaxy map mechaninc.
All Asari are still the most sexy characters in the game.
The Krogan are still the most awesome a55holes in the game.
The Salarians are still the most brilliant even if they at one time did eat flies.
The Prothean twist, not the benovelent benefactors we originally thought they were.
Liara is still the best.
Jack is still lame.
Glad Jacob found love he did deserve it.
Thane, what can one say about Mr. Bada55.
Kaiden is still a cry baby.
Ashley is dead.
Legion is a hero.
Ari'a t Lok still had the best lines EVER, "i am thinking i will use violence, i am going to slap Omega out of the Illusive man's greedy little hands". just awesome.
Commander Bailey is still my favorite cawp.
Garrius is my brother from another mother.
Miranda still has that sexy a55 combined with her daddy issues means a good spanking is probably in order, or should at least be entertaining.
Tim is still an a55hole, the villian you love to hate.

Other than the complaints about the lame combat mechanics that once i turned the skill down to where getting hung up on "cover" as opposed to sprinting by as originally intended was not immediate "critical mission failure" i enjoyed the game at least the story elements. Kiting a brute with your combat mechanics was a sado masochistic experience, sans the "happy ending". Combat in ME2 and ME3 felt turned based, i shoot it shoots, i break from cover it covers, ehhh who cares just dial the skill back enjoy the story. I am sure that the difficulty was artificially inflated due to poor combat mechanics, and that the poor combat mechanics were a cover for poor combat encounter design, but i only play ME2 and 3 for the story not the combat.

My thoughts on this...

Couldn't stand Kaiden, Vega or Jacob - Kaiden was just a sook I felt and was left to die on Virmire all the time. Vega was a dick and I don't know about Jacob... Just didn't like him
Joker was awesome and I loved him in all three games
EDI was awesome in ME2 and ME3 but I don't think she really needed a body...
ME3 is the best game in the series I feel, followed by ME1 then ME2 - I just cant play through ME2 again... Kinda just meh about it lol
Liara was almost always my LI and her entrance in ME3 was kick arse...
Tali was a great character, but I always felt they could do more with her...
Garrus was always going to be my bro and I hated the goodbye talk with him at the end of ME3
You know Anderson was born in London... Give that a rest for the love of god...
Miranda's clothing was way too figure hugging
Hackett out! - Loved that...
Ending was brilliant I thought but could of been pulled off better...
Mordin was a great character and I felt sad that he died, but at least it was heroic (Watching it on Renegade makes me feel sick to my stomach that shep could just shoot him in the back...)
ME3 intro was awesome and I really wanted to come back to kick the Reaper's off of my planet after the intro
ME2 scanning... Good god... That sucked... Mako was awesome compaired to that...
Reapers were kind of back seat for ME3... Sure they were smashing the galaxy but it didn't really feel like they were there if you know what I mean
Graphics should of been updated for each game after ME1 and the placeholders for people in the citadel was funny but should of been real people for pc...
I liked that they made fun of the meme's in ME3
Tali was brought in way to late in ME3...
Kai Lang was just a push over and got annoying (Funny tidbit though, when fighting him on Cerberus station I killed him using the scorpion... He changed from being chunks of meat on the floor to trying to knife me one last time before he was chunks on the floor again... Made me laugh)

Cant think of much more at the moment, but there are so many...

Let's see
1. Mark Meer's VA is way better and more suited to the character
2. ONLY play as a soldier
3. Don't mind Liara being a writers pet/canon LI
4. Tali is overrated and not cool at all
5. Love Miranda's suit, and she has a nice personality too I guess.
6. I don't consider Garrus that cool. Seriously Mordin and Legion trump that guy any day.
7. Really have a problem with Ashley's hair in the first game.
8. I don't feel betrayed necessarily by the VS's actions on Horizon.
9. The combat in ME3 was the best it's ever been. It's a shooter RPG...who cares if it plays like GoW?
10. There is no such thing as "FemShep". Doesn't even happen, and it's an insult to the awesomeness that is Sheploo. Haters gonna hate.
11. The plot holes of ME3 are the least of my worries I wanted a happy ending.

I'm sure that's not all but those definitely stand out,

--The "streamlining" of ME2 wasn't all bad.  After playing ME1&2 back-to-back, I realized how horrible and intrusive ME1's inventory really was; getting rid of it was a good idea, though they went too far.  ME3's upgrade system was a decent compromise.

--Alpha Protocol did inventory/upgrades and branching quests better than any of the Mass Effect games.

--I like the idea of exploring planets for treasures and hidden quests, but the driving mechanics of the Mako felt so silly that I'm glad they got rid of it.

--Martin Sheen's performance as the Illusive Man was cheesy, and not as nearly as good as it's made out to be.

--Aria is annoying, and comes off as trying WAY too hard.

--The entire Collector plot of ME2 was a completely pointless sideshow that derailed the main conflict; virtually every behavior and decision in ME2 made no sense.

--I didn't mind the way they handled Tali's face, in concept; it avoided the uncanny valley problem of many of the in-game human models like Miranda.  Bioware deserve the mockery they've received for photoshopping a stock photo, however.

--Despite being an Earthling, I really did not care about "taking back" Earth.  I've never been to Earth in the ME series, and I don't know anyone on Earth, except Anderson who was only put there to manufacture an emotional connection for just this reason.

--Anderson's death was predictable, anticlimactic, and completely failed to move me emotionally.  (Really, was there ever any doubt he was proud of you?)

--The origin and motive of the Reapers should only have been hinted at and never explained in detail.

--The Protheans should have stayed dead and in the past.  Having a live Prothean appear in the game was a terrible idea that undermined ther mystery as well as the drama of the final sacrifice described by Vigil, which was maybe the best piece of lore in the whole series.

--ME3 is not even close to "99% perfect" even ignoring the train-wreck ending.

- The game is somewhat biased towards paragon options. This is coming from a primarily paragon player.

- Liara is somewhat annoying given how she's thrusted down our throats all the time. I still like her though.

- EVEN WITHOUT THE ENDING, the game is still very much overrated.

- I like Meer over Hale (She did a great job as Bastilla thou)
- I actualy think the ME2 and 3 inventory system or lack of it is more realistic and gives immersion to the game
- I hated the Mako and loved Hammerhead
- I think the multiplayer is fun and a nice addition, I just wish there was some story-based skrimishes with dialogue choices
- Not getting explonation for something doesn't make that something a plot hole
- I liked James Vega and Steve Cortez, they were fun characters to have around
- I thought the ending was alright because it was vague, left me room for theory and speculation, I kinda dig that! (the Normandy scene was silly thou, they should cut it)
- I think Kaidan, Ashley and Jacob weren't as boring as people think
- I didn't like Miranda's face, she looks like Michael Jackson, but atleast one of her ends looks good (and I really got nothing against someone not looking "perfect", but funny thing was suposed to)
- I didn't have problem with Star Child, he should have more dialogue thou
- I thought the Mass Effect 1 combat system was rubish, but ME2 and ME3 was much better.

NOTE: PLEASE try not to let this thread be derailed into yet another discussion of ME3's ending. Say what you will about it, but don't let it overtake this thread.

What are some opinions you have about each individual ME game, or the ME universe in general, which are largely not shared by the rest of the fanbase? I'll start:

-Meer's voice acting is better than Hale's.
-Tali is highly overrated and I also found her voice a bit annoying.
-Liara is a Mary-Sue or is very close to being one, especially in ME3. Even Shepard comes very close too on occassion.
-Pretty much all of the human squadmates (Ashley, Kaiden, Jacob, etc) are bland and uninteresting.
-Bioware tried too hard to write Ashley as a "tough female solider" and made her come across as arrogant and reckless, as well as being an archetype first and an organic character second. And Crude Xenophobe or Organacist to boot.
-Bioware's human designs are still trapped in the Uncanny Valley, especially when they make facial expressions.
-ME1 had the worst shooting mechanics by far.
-ME2 had too much focus on characters and romances, to the point that the Collectors/Reapers seemed to be more like a sidequest than the main quest.
-Shepard's resurrection at the start of ME2 pretty much destroyed my suspension of disbelief. Even with all of ME's advanced tech, I couldn't buy it bringing back the dead.
-Planet scanning, while not exactly thrilling, was still better than the Mako. Hey hey. I LIKED the MAKO
-The Gears of War games still have better shooting gameplay than any of the games, and there's nothing wrong with ME taking inspiration from them to improve its gameplay.
-Making Cerberus an enemy in ME3 felt forced and plot-driven, especially if you were renegade in ME2. Working with Cerberus in ME 2 was also forced but I rolled with it.
-All of the romances feel forced and cheesy, and the "love scene" is just laughable and even a bit creepy (uncanny valley, again).
-I found it incredibly irresponsible (and nearly suspension-breaking) for Shepard to pursue a romance in ME3, considering there's a massive Reaper invasion underway and only Shepard can stop it. Granted, I may be a bit biased here since I loathe the romances in general. And I'm biased by a my military experience. Shepher would be up on charges for 'conduct unbecoming ' and jokes about being to the right of the galaxy map would be as common as alter boy jokes in the 20th century.
-Kai Leng was stupidly overpowered and existed more as plot device than an actual character. A villainous Mary Sue, basically. But it was fun Mocking and Killing him.
-Making the Reapers so incredibly powerful from the start pretty much doomed the series to end with a contrived Deus ex Machina or the Reapers winning.

As you can see, I go against BSN on quite a few things. What are some of yours?

Bold.. agreeing with your words. BLUE -- my additional words.

Garrus is not my favorite character, shocking I know.

I helped Ashley on Virmire because she was the woman at the end of the day. In fact it was probably the reason I sent Kaidan with Kirrahe to begin with.

I shacked up with Tali in ME2 because Liara wasn't around anymore, and then I went back to Liara in ME3 because Tali wasn't around anymore.

Barring a few memorable tracks, the score in ME1 doesn't stack up to rest of the series. And even though Jack Wall did an awesome job in ME2, I felt that Clint Mansell was more appropriate for ME3 and was glad for the change in style.

I really like the multiplayer.

And even though it's not perfect, I really like the endings and am looking forward to the extended cut.

Wow now I feel much better.

I will add to it

-ME3 was actually not a great game, it was decent, but there were too many little things that brought it down.
-The Quarians are the victims and the Geth are dangerous and untrustworthy.
-The omniblade is out of place and should not have been included.
-Everyone in the galaxy, with the exception of Shep and friends, is an incompetent idiot that can't do anything on their own
-Joker should not be serving in the military with such a debilitating disease.
-Legion is ridiculously overrated.

^^Prettymuch these, though I'd ammend Evil Minion's #2 to "The 'Mass Effect' plot line was never that original." But I think that about everything, so it's always more about the journey for me.

Additionally:
- The Mass Effect 2 soundtrack was the best one of the series. (Didn't realize this was up for debate until I read the thread.)
- Both Saren and TIM are actually great tragic heroes rather than cut-and-dry villains.
- I enjoyed the addition of both Vega and Cortez, even if neither character will ever top my favorites list.

- Really would like the camera to stay focused on faces... Not backsides (Miranda)
- I do like that they repainted the ship and stripped the Cerberus logo.
- Rather have Ashley original appearance/style.
- Wanted to face Harbinger personally or at least get to taunt him.
- Conrad return was awesome.
- First reaction to Diana Allers was a flash back to the South Park episode causing my Shepard to run to a corner of the Citadel and hold himself crying saying in a soft voice "Shepard don't want snoo snoo!"
- Oh and I think Thermal Clips was a dumb idea. I shudder every time I hear someone cry out "I am out of ammo!" In two years the galaxy went from ammo is a non-issue on the battlefield to a limited supply.

I never understood why Joker took the ship to the mass relay...Where the **** was he going?

Also why the hell where the people on earth/my squad till the very end on board the Normandy? WTF man?

- Mass Effect 2 > Mass Effect 1.  Only because of the improved mechanics of gameplay.
- mass effect 3 > Mass Effect 2 till the very end
- I enjoyed ME Trilogy till the very last 30mins of ME3
- From Ashes should not have been a DLC.  Unlike some of you who feel as it should have been and is okay it was vital.  Take him with you to Thessia, listen to the conversation he has with Liara as more lore is told to you

Oh, my list would be very long, since I think I have many things that others certainly do not agree with (and unfortunately - or lucky for you LOL,  I can't, physically, write them down atm).

One of the major thing would be:
I am not at all pleased with the whole game in ME3
(that's a long list, right there, that I am sure many, many would disagree with).
Although, there are certain things that I really liked, too, but not at all as many as I've read others do like.

Another thing is; I loved the mako  but I hated the terrain. (arrrgh)

I think the male voice for Shepard (sorry, don't know their names) is way too monotone.
I actually got so tired of trying to play as a male (I am a woman) so I quit, due to the monotone voice.

The female's voice, I think, is superb! (don't know what others think of these things)

I'll stop here ;-)

Edit: I agree with RazRei, regarding the From Ashes DLC (like RazRei said, above, about Thessia)

The voice acting and the animation in this game is overly stiff.

Check out Gears of War 3 and Bulletstorm running Unreal Engine 3 just like ME3 but the animation is smoother, finer, and they got the Voice Actor's to be more animated.

one of thee major grips for me about this game is how all the VO and Character's of this game is so stiff.
