My girlfriend is a bit of a hippie and she has a book called The Secret Language of Birthdays. Here is part of Shepard's entry for today.

APRIL 11
The Day of the Policy Makers

Those born on April 11 do not have the overwhelming need to be a star, like many of those born in the April II period. When they are at the centre of the action it is generally due to their usefulness rather than ambition. What they are most comfortable with is being part of a decision-making team, in which they often play a dominant role. It is ideas which most excite and stimulate April 11 people, not glory or prestige.

They are less concerned with developing a sparkling personality than with honing a message. They do not care for high blown verbiage. Those born on this day like to know what others think, straight out, without subterfuge. This does not mean that they themselves are incapable of subtlety or make poor diplomats. Actually, as mediators they can be quite superb, able not only to bring hostile parties together but also to reconcile wildly diverging points of view. April 11 people are often called upon when all else has failed and the unsaveable must be saved.

Happy Birthday, Shepard.  In recognition of this momentous event I have compiled a history of my one and only Shepard (so far) to reach the end of all three games.

Jane Shepard - Earthborn, War Hero, Infiltrator

Jane had a cynical and sarcastic bent up top, but deep down she was a nice girl who tried to do what she thought was right.  She admits that she's not sure she always made the right decision, losing the council and the Destiny Ascension, giving Cerberus the Collector Base, but she had her loyal crew, and some things turned out alright, like Feros, the Genophage cure, leaving no man behind on the suicide mission, and a lasting peace between the Quarians and the Geth.  Her scars from the collector attack never really changed until the Reaper War, when they finally went away of their own accord from helping all those who suffered most during the war.  She likes her Predator, Locust, and Widow, later a Black Widow, and her alliance officer's uniform.

Despite some lingering feelings, she never romanced anyone, always too busy to do anything more than idle flirting. It's probably why she liked James so much, as idle flirting was something they had in common.  She got her revenge for Thane, was happy for Jacob and Garrus, and poor Kaidan died on Virmire, a rather significant history of waiting too long.  She really didn't swing the other way, though she got her revenge for her friend Kelly, too, and has steadily grown closer to Liara over time, though nothing ever culminated during the Reaper War.

Fortunately for her, her favorite color is red, so she still has a chance to find love, and she can eat cake on her birthday.  Not that there are many to give her presents.  Maybe Hackett will throw her a party and invite the surviving squad members from the suicide mission.

And she looks like, errr...

Jane still thinks it's too much eye shadow, but some people think it makes her look badass.

At any rate, Happy Birthday Shepard! There are some great custom Shepard's here. I always just stick with the default, but nice job everyone with custom!

It is Commander Shepard's canon birthday, as said by the codex.
