Let's rephrase, A LOT of peoe bought A LOT less hated the ending so much they did as my has they could to get bioware to change the ending. The other people either loved it, hated it but didn't care enough to do anything about it, or we're somewhere I between. Those were normal reactions. The 6.66% (haha devils, satans,) weren't normal

Right, right. Expressing your opinion is not normal. Understood. Is it normal for you to spend time discussing how abnormal it is for others to express their opinions? Sounds great.

EA got the message. You don't like the ending and you want it changed. Their current answer is. Ok, we'll add more to the current ending but we're not changing it

You can't use the total sales number minus the people anti-ending as positive ending. They fact is they're unknown, the vast majority of gamers out there aren't on forums. They can't be used as a plus or negative in any situation. The only statistic they can be truthfully used as is they bought the game.

As has been pointed out, Bioware has the statistics. They know how many people finished the game. They know how many started a second playthrough. The fact that they've commited to doing anything at all in response to Retake means that they believe the affected player base is large enough to justify the investment of dev time and money.

They're not likely to share those statistics publicly, but the data is there.

Oh make no mistake, I believe the people who are displeased with the ending are in fact a very large majority, but even analytic data regarding replays etc is only a number and can't be used for accurate information for plus or negative endings. Also PC Players might play offline, xbox players might not have internet connection at all, Yes there are a lot of them. I just don't think anyone can speak on behalf of the total number of sales as an indication of support or lack of support.

Precisely. We can say that it seems like a majority probably dislike the endings, based on the info we have, but we aren't stating it as a fact, (I hope).

But people certainly can't say that the most liked the endings simply based off of sales.

Clarification is needed because I guess I wasn't EXACTLY clear on what I said. Even if I thought I was. I guess this is what bioware feels like when they post. People pick apart every little thing you say and don't read what you actually said.

Congrats bioware. It's nice to see an actual number (this is the first ESTIMATE. I've seen that is attempting any sense of actuality, some say it could be more, I've heard 2.8 mil on Forbes). It's also nice to finally be able to say that the retake moment is a vocal minority.  I'll be really generous and say you have 100,000 followers. Thats a little more than half of a percent that didn't like the ending enough to "do something about it". (I thought this was pretty clear but I guess not, I said that the retake movement was upset enough to do something to try to change the ending. I didn't say the other 92.33% totally loved the game. I guess I was implying that the other 92.33% were normal. Yeah that was a jab at you guys:)

Oh and by the way 100k is .0666% of 1.5 mil. Is it sign? From the behavior I've see around these parts I'd have to agree. (I'm leaving the error in the math because that was funny. Can't take yourself so seriously. Some of you could learn that lesson)

Oh yeah, I also got this info from ign....do double suck it haha. Much love, but not really.

Lol. What fail logic.

Oh yes, 1.5 million people bought the game, so if they don't actually sign up on a facebook page, they must like the ending. Go take a stats course, and then get back to me.

I think how are the percentages about the endings and the statistics are like this;

X percent of people liked the ending.
X percent of people hated the ending.
X percent of people are okay with the ending.

Now this statistic descent from the above, like variables;

X percent of people are part of the movement and want change.
X percent of people doesn't want change.
X percent of people are not part of the movement but want change.

See what Im trying to say?

Thats all I'm saying too man. An estimated 1.5 mil bought it. This move my is a vocal minority of the people who bought the game.

Question, why is being labeled a vocal minority such a bad thing to you people. I've seen you get so upset by this. Just own it. Your a small percentage of the buyers.

Your math isn't telling you what you think it's telling you.

EA's initial shipment - 3.8 million units.
Esitmates sold - 1.5 million units.

Which means they sold only 40% of what they thought they'd sell.  This is pretty much considered a disaster,  it explains why the price is being cut,  and it puts EA at risk of being forced to buy back unsold copies.

Rather than hypothesizing about how many people hate the ending,  what you really should be taking away is that the word-of-mouth is bad enough that all of EA's projections are shot.

those figures also ignore that many stores ran out of pre orders way before release.

truth is only the bean counters know how many were shipped, sold or returned.

but you can be sure the numbers you quote are not even close to fact.

even as a shareholder we dont get the figures needed to say what was sent or sold.
and that info alone is only once a year

Look into customer service, returns, and complaints. Learn about the professional, peer-reviewed studies and surveys that show the ratio of complaining customers to dissatisfied customers who don't complain.

Yes, the number of people who complain about something is always going to be a small percentage of those who bought the product. And it's completely irrelevant that it's a small percentage. What matters is the total number, because about 4% of people who are dissatisfied with a product take action such as returning the product or complaining about it to the company.

60,000 people complaining about a product is a *disaster* from a retail perspective. Because those 60,000 people are only 4% of the people who are dissatisfied and upset.

1.5 Million?  What?

Try 3.39 Million as of 31 March (and that doesn't include Origin downloads or any digital downloads).

First of all half those countries don't even have working internet, let alone a PC that can run the darn game.  Next we will hear that RETAKE was fluffing their ranks with dead peoples names.  Doesn't take much to register a new email address and select a new country.  Shave 50% off that total and you are sitting pretty, take another 99% off that total and now you have the RETAKErs who post on BSN.
