I'm already a mage and she was super annoying on my last playthrough. So much that I never used her.

This time, I killed her the moment she started spouting her drivel. Am I missing out on some epic sidequest by doing this? I never got any Wynne-related quests in the first playthrough.

She does have a sidequest to find her first student that she thinks is dead. Not that exciting IMO.

You'll miss out a lot of enlightening conversations.

Seriously, how can anyone hate Wynne? She's like the best first grade teacher and grandmother you never had.

Killing grandma is not smart.

Think of it more like "putting grandma to bed, permenantly".  Posted Image

Wynne is wicked healer though.  When I'm not playing a mage, I usually keep her in the group.

Well, there is that handy Vessel of the Spirit ability (may have gotten the name slightly wrong), the grandmother/mom you wish you had, her healing, the banter between her & Oghren...and the always hilarious "where babies come from" chat (well, if you're a female & romance Alistair, she teases him pretty mercilessly with that one). Wynne = win. :P

She does get an awesome plot specific spell that only she gets that makes her a godlike healer.

I think she's horribly annoying with her rants.
Plus i loved it when she told my character that she's not afraid of me... 1.4 sec later she was lying dead on my feet.

Than i talked to Morrigan with Wynne blood all over my face
priceless.

The little apprentice mage owned that old hag witch who's supposed to have some super hidden power..
Overrated old hag.

It's real easy to shut her out, though. Just hit "esc."

No epic side-quest. She's a good healer and some of her banter/interactions are interesting.

I'd suggest going through the game with a each companion at least once, but that's only if you're into the multiple thing.

I keep wondering if she's going to kill over due to her "condition" not her age. Does she make it through the whole game? I just don't wanna take her on a big run somewhere and its lights out time for her. I know she wants to stay, I feel sorry for her and think she should go back to the circle. I wonder if I'm making a mistake keeping her.

LOL, I hated her as well.  Especially when she kept telling me to end it with Alistair.  I want to say my your own business B****.

I think she means well, saying to end things with Alistair, there's a lot at stake.

There'll be no one to darn your shirts or give you grandmotherly advice if you kill her.

Speaking of socks... how did one of Alistairs end up in her bedroll?  Maybe she and Alistair are hitting it on the side... that's why she wants me to end it.  I knew there was more reasons to hate her!

I killed her in my first playthrough, didnt realize she was a character you could have to join your party. I guess Morrigan in my party was the one that talked me into killing Wynne. I did manage to complete the game with just the first healing spell and nothing else. No sweat if Wynne is gone.

I love Wynne. I've only had her in my party as a female romancing Alastair, so I'm curious to see if her "duty before emotion" speech crops up when my lovely Dalish rogue starts romancing Leliana or not.

first time through I kets here but I don't think she ever left my camp. I'm on my 2nd run now and I think I will kill her. On my 3rd run i will play nice to her.

But to me she is just an old hag who didn't like it that I did the nasty with Morrigan first and then Leliana

I can't stand Wynne either (for more elaborations see the "Abominable Wynne" thread, I will not bore people with repeating the things I said there) , however I think everyone should let her join the party at least once. At least after that, you'll know why you hate her. ;)

As for missing out, not really. Her sidequest is very short (just go somewhere, talk to someone, be done with it). She is an excellent healer, but I'm doing fine with Morrigan who I gave the single regular healing spell (playing on hard, not nightmare, maybe that makes a difference?).
She does have nice party banter - with Leliana & Alistair if you're going for the "happy family" feeling, with Zevran & Morrigan if you enjoy your companions to make fun of her and scoff at her (which is what I prefer, I admit it), or with Oghren if you want to see more of his not-so-subtle humour.
