Thing is, when Alistair apologizes, you know it's a heartfelt true apology. Especially if you have a female character and you are his first great love of his life (which you are even if you do not romance him). Imagine the horror he must be feeling when he realizes that he just appeared to be a selfish, imature, inconsiderate fool who forgot the fact that <enter tragic past here>, in the eyes of the person who makes his knees buckle.
Wynne's apology is more a product of rational thought. She sees she has overstepped her boundaries and thus does the right thing and apologizes.
Am I missing out on much if I kill Wynne?
