There is little information regarding this choice and it's impact on your war assets and upgrades. Even the ME wiki is sparse on ME3 details regarding them. 

I successfully told Chakwas to stay in the labs and recruited Michel to the Normandy. 

I read somewhere that later on you get a different upgrade from whoever you left on the CItadel later on, but it was unclear as to which type of medigel upgrade you get. Also there was some speculation that if you leave Chakwas on the Citadel gave more war assets through some series of events. 

I mention this because there has been speculation that its impossible to get 4000 war assets without multiplayer and I bet that the overwhelming majority picked Chakwas to be on the normandy (mainly because the dialog option is presented right up front). The few bonus assets would be helpful. 

Does anyone have any actual numbers on how many war assets you get based on your decision about Chakwas' location? 

Any clearer details on the difference between the upgrade that Michel gives vs what Chakwas gives if left on the Citadel?

I'm sure there are other smaller decisions like this elsewhere in the game, but time will bring them to light.

This was the hardest decision I ever had to make in the span of about 5 seconds.

Went with Dr. Michel because I'm a sucker for accents ;(

As for the difference, I think Chakwas = medi-gel efficiency, Michel = medi-gel capacity...plus an accent.

From a war assets perspective, you get war assets for leaving Chakwas, and both will give Shep a quest, so it's better to pick Michel.

Also, green eyes + accent.

I really wanted to bring Dr Michel, But Dr Chakwas was there from the start and she will stay there till the end.

I didn't even know there was a difference. Went with Chakwas because she's been on every Normandy.

From the point of view of Garrus:

Dr. Michel gave me chocolat. Dr. Chakwas put me back together after I headbutted a rocket.

Definitely Dr. Chakwas.

Yeah I honestly forgot who Dr. Michel was. Chakwas was all puppy-eyes "Can I come back to the Normandy, please!?" And I was like "GOOD GOD WOMAN, OF COURSE!"

The only reason I went with Michel was because Chakwas gives war assets (I only got 10 points for her though).

There are less than 8000 asset points in single player, even with From Ashes. You cannot get 4000 EMS without multiplayer.


Chakwas is worth 10 points if you don't let her on the ship.


Later in the game the doctor in the med-bay will give you a sidequest that gets you a medi-gel ugrade if completed. Dr Michel gives you a +2 to medigel capacity (so you can carry a max of 10). Dr Charkwas give's you a bonus to efficiency (so you can only carry 8, but whenever you pick up medigel in missions you top up 2 instead of 1).


Chakwas's bonus seems more valuable since there are generally a lot of medigel pick ups in missions.

You have to have a separate conversation with Michel after you tell chakwas to stay in the labs for Michel to come to the Normandy.

Dr. Michel is kinda cute. But Dr. Chakwas is my ship and crew's true Doctor. She belongs nowhere else. It's her home.

Pretty sure this is correct, but someone will call me on it if I'm wrong:

You don't get anything if Chakwas is on board the Normandy.
You don't get anything for Michel either, since she isn't Alliance and stays at Heurta if you don't pick her up.

The game guide does not say anything about Dr. Michel being worth war assets because she stays at the Citadel and does not go to the labs.But, she also gets you a Medi-gel upgrade.

You get 10 points for leaving Chakwas off the Normandy, and that's it.  You don't get anything for leaving Michel behind.

Not true. The PAX interview flat out said that 'not everyone on the citadel died, you can bet most of the plot related people survived' or something vastly to that effect.

Thank you, at least one person in this thread is responding to the actual question I had originally.
