Cut Ashley Conversation

Shame it didn't get left in (if this is really a deleted scene) ... Ashley's religious beliefs were always an intriguing part of her character. You don't get many traditionally religious people in sci-fi.

In ME1 Ashley said she believes in God and Heaven and she was branded as a zealot.
I'm not sure if that had anything to do with.

Seems logical, captain.
EDIT: They really should have worked the "I could dance for you" line into the game somewher else, though. Ash has painfully little dialog as it is.

If you're a character in a sci-fi game and mention anything outside the status-quo, you'll get branded a zealot for it, I've found. Gay and mention you've got a husband? That's shoving your homosexuality in people's faces. Believe in God and mention it in a single conversation? You're a religious Bible-basher.clipped_wolf wrote...

We're quite reactive as an audience, aren't we ...

It is a shame that ended up on the cutting room floor. Hopefully it gets added back in DLC at some point, because that looks like a great scene. That, and Ashley is a little short of dialogue after rejoining the team. This deleted convo might be part of the reason why.
Some people seem to be speculating that this may have been cut for fear of angering people who aren't atheists or agnostics, but I'm not so sure. After all the scene doesn't say that there isn't life after death. Shepard's answer is, "I don't know." It is left open for debate, and for the player to decide. I can't see how that could possibly offend either believers or non-believers as it doesn't take a stance either way.

What I'm really happy about is that he ponders his own mortality in it there, "Did I die and come back, or did I just die? Am I just a cheap copy now?"

He has one of those moments if you choose to view the Cerberus video files when you hit their base. After viewing one of the vids on the origin of the Lazarus Project, he'll wonder whether he's really Commander Shepard, or just some VI that thinks it is Commander Shepard. If Liara is with you (and romanced) she'll interrupt him by saying she knew it was really him the first time she touched him. Not sure what the other squadmates say, but either way it was a great scene.
It it is a shame there weren't more in the game where Shepard reflects on his own mortality, and whether he really is who he thinks he is following the Lazarus Project.

I know Garrus says something along the lines of "Finding out something like that... it must be tough to hear"
and I know Tali says something similar to Liara if you romanced her. She says something along the lines of "I know you're the real shepard, you're the man i love" or some such.
Haven't tried with Ash while romanced yet....didn't see the Liara one either now that I recall (I tend to always keep Garrus around...) gonna have to try that.

Cool, thanks!
I haven't played through that level yet with other squadmates besides EDI and Liara. From the sound of it, maybe it is best whenever playing that level to bring whatever character Shepard is romancing on that playthrough. The LI dialogue seems to be more personal. Assuming of course that Shepard's LI for that playthrough is a squadmate.

Her general dialogue and manner towards shepard takes on a MUCH more loving and "you're mine" kind of tone.
Its kinda cute.
I didn't notice Liara's tone change as much, but I did notice her manner was a lot softer towards shepard during her romance.
As for ash, haven't done one with her yet.
Just Liara/Jack/Miranda and Tali.

This isn't an answer one way or another about the afterlife - it's just a good scene. May have been a pacing thing though.
well i think shepard didnt want to flat out say your beliefs are wrong
i will say this if bioware could somehow make the final hour scenes dlc including the tim boss fight ill be glad to shell out some money for it
dont get me wrong i love the game as is but i feel that the reason why this stuff was cut was do to budget and time
if they can somehow make tim a husk instead of a reaper im game

So is there any proof it's a deleted scene? I imagine people that dig up deleted content wouldn't make montages like this. They'd just post the lines as found.
i remember seeing someone post a ingame letter of ash saying ill see you at the hospital
id post it but i just hate the idea of having to dig through not just this community but another one i talk on
