That said, I wound up soloing at least half of waves 7, 8, and 10 on different occasions today, and it went fine. Easy enough if you don't have any teammates up and can train the enemies around the map into Proximity Mine/Tactical Cloak ambushes. This setup still has some problems with shielded and armored heavy enemies (Primes, Atlases), as it takes a while to burn through their defenses regardless of the damage output you've got, but it's a very capable build.

The only TC damage bonus that's Sniper Rifle exclusive is the rank 6 evolution. A lot of the other Geth Infiltrator abilities seem geared toward a mobile, close-range combat style that favors shotguns - the short range on Hunter Mode's enhanced vision, the movement speed boost, and so on are things that give a lot more benefit to a shotgun than to a Sniper Rifle.
Don't get me wrong, I think that the Geth Infiltrator Sniper build is perfectly viable, particularly with the Javelin to punch through as much intervening crap as possible, but I think that the Salarian Infiltrator still beats the GI at sniping, while the GI has the edge in running with a shotgun.

edit: actually would be nice to be able to place 2 headshots in sequence through a wall, u can just deshield a target with a javelin, then he most likely move somewhere else and u have to (i suppose) scope again and lokk for him. with a BW and permanent HM vision, i think u could actually take down shielded enemies in a matter of seconds... only problem is, i guess BW has a lower penetration distance than regular widow and jav, right?

I've ONLY pulled a Geth Infiltrator. I keep getting weapons and Drell Vanguards in premium spectre packs.

You can cloak AND proxy AND shoot all with the cloak damage boost without the 6th tier evo.

But then you need to rush your shot. With bonus power, you can shoot a mine and take your time to make sure you get a nice clean headshot.

While you certainly may die more often, the amount of damage you and your team could inflict seems to outweigh an extra death or two.

Its quite easy to get used to you should give it a try. Theres no need for headshots anyway with the gps since they don't register.

About the decloak bug, because it came up again on the previous page: it has nothing to do with charging the weapon. Obviously this is another mechanic... you need to charge before you cloak. The decloak bug however also occurs with uncharged shots. If you use a charge weapon and break cloak by shooting (charged or uncharged) and cloak again as soon as your cooldown allows it, then you will decloak instantly.
However there are ways to deal with it:
- It seems to only occur if you are not the host. It seems that this bug doesn't happen if you host the game
- Breaking cloak by using the Proximity Mine (not having the bonus power evolution in cloak rank 6) also helps. The bug only seems to occur if you break cloak by shooting, but if you shoot the mine first then there is no problem. Makes 4/6/6/6/4 and 5/6/6/6/3 builds and other variations of builds that only use 4 or 5 ranks of cloak more useful.
- Waiting some more time after your cooldown is reset from your previous cloak also seems to help. I don't know how long you have to wait and I find it very annoying because you usually want to cloak right away again if you use hit and run tactics, especially with the GI being so squishy and all...
On another topic: I'm almost certain that the 50% shield penalty only affects the base shield value because I have been running a 5/3/6/6/6 build with focus on helath/shield and I can take much more damage it seems. I'm not certain but I really think I wouldn't have lasted that long in some situations if the penalty did affect the maxed out shields.
Man... this character is really insane though. So much I want to try and test. Next I will probably be trying the glass cannon build and I also want to try a build with a focus on heavy melee... I'd love to have this char like 3 or 4 times so I can have him specced for different setups at once. Very few characters can give you so much variety in builds and I'm only talking about shotgun builds (although I have to say it would be waste to play this beast with anything else than a shotgun).

I'm beginning to strongly consider this as well. The survivability benefits of 3 points in Advanced Hardware are pretty minimal, and the things you could gain from those points elsewhere are pretty significant.

I hosted the games and then the decloak bug doesn't occur so 6 in cloak is acutally useful then. Bummer it does bug when you are not the host. I hope they fix this. So many classes/builds bascially require you to be the host or otherwise they can have problems. And you don't want problems with your chars in gold...

I have my Rank 6 in Sniper Damage at the moment (haven't ReSpec'ed yet) .. is Bonus Power bugged then? Because I haven't uncloaked and I haven't been host all night.

That is the build I've settled on, however I'm much more partial to sniping with this build. I've been practicing with it on silver for now, but I'm going to be taking it into gold soon. So far, I've found that it kind of falls apart on any close range oriented map.
Overall, 10/10 on the build and the post man!

I had a hard time with Cerberus but that might be because of the proximity mine. I also don't know if I'm skilled enough to survive being a real glass cannon, especially on open maps like hydra, giant, and even condor.
Also I need a better plasma shotgun than rank 1
thanks though, this guide might allow me to go for a more maximized damage build

The decloak bug that is mentioned in this thread which occurs when you use a charge weapon. I described some more details in the post above my last (3 posts above yours).
