So, yeah, I opened origin, got my resurgence pack, but the game didn't install the ME3 patch.
Don't know why, but, it kept saying "Preparing".
I tried restarting origin and my pc, but none of them worked.
So, yeah, I can't use the resurgence pack right now because the update won't install.
I need help.

Update: Finally, after 3 hours it started to change its status to "Calculating".
I guess origin is trolling me.
"If" you're going to ask if the progress bar is moving, no it's not moving.
Origin is still on the verge of "Calculating" it, after "Preparing" it.

I have this problem too.
I downloaded resurgence pack, but can`t install the patch. The game says that i need to install that patch, if I want to use my resurgence pack.
But when I tried to install this patch it just kept saying "preparing".

I thought I was the only one on this world. Thanks for the comment, it really helped me knowing I wasn't the only one.
I hope this gets fixed right away.

Guess what guys!?!?
I want to be cool and join your party too, because I'm having the same problem. I've closed firewalls, opened all 13 required TCP/UDP ports for Origin, and uninstalled and re installed Origin... Problem is this problem isn't new, it has been going on for several months now since BF3. EA FIX THIS. I will say that going by peoples experience on the forums disabling firewalls may be part of it. If you want try adding these ports to your firewall exceptions list that may work as well:
TCP ports:
80
443
9960-9969
1024-1124
18000
18120
18060
27900
28910
29900
UDP ports:
1024-1124
18000
29900
Also, right clicking and running ME3/orgin as administrator has worked for some people
Maybe this will help you more than it will help me, those numbers are off the Origin help site.

The following did not work for me:
-Turn off firewall/security
-Reboot
-Reinstall Origin
-Safe mode with networking
-Forward ports for Origin
-Run as admin
Please take note that everything else in Origin works fine. I can download the DLC, I can download other games, and other updates. I cannot download Mass Effect 3 or the update it. I own the N7 Collector's Edition (Phyiscal Copy).
Can someone at EA/BioWare please acknowledge this as a serious issue? I've wasted several hours on this. It is completely preventing myself and many others from playing the game at all.

Agreed, I have spent many hours on this as well. This is a problem. I've already found 2 new threads posted today about this issue. Can someone from EA/Bioware please address this? Thank you

So are there no EA/BioWare representatives that review these forums? Origin support is no help. I have posted on the Origin forums and I have been largely ignored. I sent a bug report to EA/Origin and haven't gotten a response. This is not good business.
Please guys, pay attention to us. We purchased your game and we can't play it.
Edit: As others have stated, is there something wrong with providing us with manual install of the patch? Is that too much to ask?

OK guys. I have a second computer that I decided to try downloading the game to it. It is working. The computer is incapable of running ME3, but I'm going to try to transfer the files to a harddrive and bring them over to my gaming rig. Hopefully this works.
In the mean time, I'll try my hardest to find the differences between the two computers in terms of setup. Both are running Windows 7. Both computers are wirelessly connected to the same network.
Differences that could contribute off the top of my head:
My PC is running 64-bit, my laptop runs 32-bit
My PC has UAC disabled, my laptop has it enabled

I too have this issue and really want to play the Resurgence pack maps on multiplayer. I'm surprised there's nowhere to manually download the patch. Seriously?
Also, an update to Origin in general would be greatly appreciated. Its always been buggy for me.

With BF3 some people found that some random programs (literally things like photoshop, corell, ect.) were conflicting with the Origin ports... Maybe this could be an issue.(?)
I'm mostly posting so people keep posting on this forum until we are noticed...

I had this problem with patch 1.01 and now 1.02. All other DLC & collectors item packs downloaded without a problem. I couldn't download 1.01 until the Friday after release. And coincidentally, I have been unable to download 1.02, until now, Friday after release.
Just like with 1.01, it finally got off "preparing" and onto downloading without using any of EA's recommended tricks. My UAC was enabled, I did NOT run Origin as administrator, I was not in safe mode, and I had numerous other programs running at the same time. I actually launched it unintentionally and let it spool up for the hell of it. Figures.
This is the second patch and second time I've had this issue. Both times is was finally resolved without taking any additionally steps and starting Origin normally. My experience would suggest this is an EA/Origin network request problem and not a UAC/firewall issue, as they suggest. And yes, this has been going on since BF3, so it should have been dealt with by now. At the very least, a more detailed explanation of the problem should be produced. Origin "Beta". How long do they get to keep that tag but still make it mandatory to run the software?

Quick question: Does everyone else having this problem also have the collectors edition? I have the collectors edition and think that might be causing the problem.

I did download another DLC not related to ME3 to see if it was an Origin connection issue and it downloaded fine.
Its not that I can't download stuff from Origin, its got something to do specifically with ME3 and that face patch (thats what I am calling it).
