Under system options you can select your storage device, press Y for options and choose to clear the cache.  That will nuke the broken patch.  But you will be signed out of Live, so no multiplayer.

I'd like to add my name to the bunch.

-Downloaded Patch.
-Freeze at "Connecting to EA Servers..."
1.) Unable to access Main Menu
2.) Unable to play Single Player
3.) Unable to access multiplayer

EDIT: When at "Press Start" screen, I signed out of my profile/GT, prompted to use a profile and chose a defunct one, prompted if I wanted to continue without the ability to save - chose "yes", when at the main menu I signed into my profile. "Seemed" to have worked.

I can confirm this worked for me. On multiplayer right now, even if it did not tell me the "unable to save" part.

It is definitely the patch that has caused these issues because I just cleared my HD cache, booted up the game and declined the update. It worked fine, I could select things and start a new campaign but not continue any current ones as my HD wasn't seleceted. Obviously couldn't go on MP though because I didn't have the update. Then I installed the update and what do you know, it is now unplayable.

@Demon_Chicken, you can do what SixAngrysmokers did. It worked fine for me and I'm in multiplayer, didn't delete the N7 Warfare pack and have all the updates, and never cleared cache. At the "Start" screen just log with a spare useless account, press start and let it finish. When the main menu is reached you can relog into your account. It will restart but won't stop at the "Connecting to EA". Not sure why though...

I tried this but it said "A sign-in change has occurred please sign-in with the original profile" And then it just stops at "Checking Downloadable Content"

So none of you have turned off the auto logon under Extra>options>online? If so turn it back on

Thank you! This solved my problem because my Auto Sign-in was turned off for some reason. Although to turn it back on I had to clear the cache, load up ME3, decline the update, get to main menu and change auto sign-in back to on and then sign back in and it now works. That is a major flaw needing that to be on to play your game. Who would of thought it would be something as stupid as that.

I'll have to give this a try after I delete the patch from my HD. Do you know if after it works the first time, if we can turn the auto-login setting back to off without issues?

I am still at the point where I don't even want to bother really, but if this easy fix works I'll try it.

I tried the "Use Disc 2" solution and it worked for me. It's the first time the most complicated solution wasn't required.

I found an (admittedly annoying) fix for this bug, at least for multiplayer people.Singleplayer people are still out of luck.

Info here

This is handy but unfortunately I don't have an external memory device that I can use so i'm still unable to play :(

You don't have a thumb drive, or something? USB drives will work just as well, but make sure nothing you want is on it, because the Xbox will format it.

lol I tried turning the auto-logon off and on, but now the game is stuck on the Checking downloadable content screen (although I can logon pressing Y).

[edit] fixed it by doing the following:
- clear cache
- start the game, deny update
- change the settings back to auto logon
- logon and accept patch

And voila, no more freezes at startup, doesn't matter which disc I use. What a weird issue. They need to fix this asap.

I did not have Auto Login set to Off, but strangely it worked and I am in multiplayer. Thanks

Just tried this, and it works...sort of, but only if you keep that setting on. I don't want to be constantly connected to the EA server as I almost never do MP, so I am still stuck with a patch that doesn't work.

Oh, nevermind. I guess now it doesn't work, again.

I've been having the problem non-stop since 5:45 AM when it forced me
off Xbox live to download the patch. I have called EA 3 times now with
new info about the way it is failing at the checks. Please call EA at
(866) 543 5435 and give them details on your problems as I have. I will
go through the steps I have done so all of you can try and hope for
better results.

After every step I tried launching Mass Effect 3
to either get stuck in an eternal load loop or to outright freeze right
after the press start screen.
1: Delete system cache (This was done
after every time I started the game since the update has been the
obvious problem I wanted to test this in as many setups as I could.)
2: Delete online pass then re-download.
3: Remove game from HDD.
4: Deleted DLCs. (Both Resurgence and From Ashes.)
5: Tried both discs.
6: Removed profile then downloaded it from Xbox.
7:
Force the Xbox to re-sync to Xbox live by changing the date to
11/15/2005. (You have to be signed out to change the date and time)
8: Installed both discs to my HDD then retried with both discs.
9:
Downloaded the DLCs again then tried with my Ethernet unplugged.
(Worked to play single player but the moment you reconnect to Xbox live
you wither get load locked while connecting to Xbox live or sent to the
game start-up because of the sign-in change that has occurred.)
10: Tested my connection to Battlefield 3, Battlefield: Bad Company 2, and Battlefield 1943. All perfect.
11: Received a new online pass from EA support. Did not solve the issue, just started freezing at a different screen.
12: Contemplated the fun of hitting something with a crowbar but then realized I didn't feel like going outside quite yet.
13: Glared at my frozen Xbox hoping it could sense my disappointment of the update.
14: Ate an ice cream sandwich and came to the forums to report the fun I have been having since 5:45 AM CST.

So
the last 3 we're not anything technical but they did make me ok with
the situation for the time. Just remember folks. This is not an issue
with connecting to EA servers. This issue with the with the checks the
game does of your EA server connection, downloaded content, save games,
then EA server connection again. I have had it actually connect to EA
so I could see my Galaxy at war readiness but had a load loop of
"Checking downloadable content" overlaying my "Resume game; New game;
Load game; Multiplayer; Download Content" menu list so I was unable to
hit anything besides my Microsoft button and inevitably, dashboard.

NOTE: While I do seem to be a very unlucky person most people on my friends list by sheer repetition are able to eventually get past these checks and log on to play both Singleplayer or Multiplayer so keep giving it a try. I hope at some point I can get to play my Geth Hunter some more.

Yeah...I'm going by my 3-rule (if it freezes three times with the game in...it is the game)....and yeah....my 360 is only freezing as soon as I get to the load screen.

Please fix this! :) Thanks.

I downloaded the Resurgence DLC, launched the game with Disc 2 in the tray (both disks installed to the HDD), console froze on Connecting to EA. Shut down console, started back up, put in Disc 1, console froze. Shut down console, started back up, deleted Resurgence DLC, started game, connected without any problems. Re-downloaded the Resurgence DLC and now I'm playing multiplayer. Haven't tried single player yet.

Same problem, just can't get past that 'checking downloadable content' message. It keeps loading forever.
