Just thought of a little something that could work in theory...
BOSS FIGHTS!!!
***Will keep as Spoiler free as possible***
Examples:
Crazy Ninja Dude - Infiltrator class + Sticky Grenades + another skill? Immune to CC (Stasis / Decoy)
Il****ve Man - Adept class - etc etc
Each boss is not susceptable to Decoys or Stasis, can be 5-6 boss types all different classes. Each boss is randomly chosen after the extraction of the map. Upon killing this boss each member is awarded 25k extra credits allowing a purchase of a Premium Spectre Pack... (if completed)
Essentially as you are extracting, they interrupt creating a new wave. Should be fairly hard for 4 people, nearly impossible with 3, (yet another reason to try for full extraction, as dead players will not revive during this wave ((Unless Medigel))

of the players just want to end the mission and leave, they can.
Otherwise, yes, boss fights do sound like a cool idea. (or make them a randomly occurring rare event?)
I originally thought of the randomly occuring event, kinda like a weekend thing, or even a timed thing, but in the fairness of gameplay everyone should be eligible as long as you try, isn't there enough randomness already =)
Also with the vote to engage it, it makes sense however; if you are playing Gold I don't think there should be an option to run, lets face it its not an option.

My examples were just that, I was pretty tired when I wrote them tbh. The bosses don't necessarily need to be story driven but maybe they could be called "Generals" or "Leutenants" or something to that effect as technically we are fighting at the warfronts of each area. It would kind of make sense that there would be some type of leader present or a "Hero" type leading that system or map?

Make this on wave 11 instead to give wave 11 a purpose. Extraction makes no sense - you've secured the area, so why do you suddenly have to run away...
Maybe adding the bossfight where you last for 2 mins before running for your life, bonus credits for killing it within the allotted timeframe? This becomes round 11?
I think as I stated earlier, this should only happen on gold, and essentially think of it like you plan to extract then out of nowhere a boss comes out, destroys the first shuttle and engages, it will take 5:00min for another shuttle to be sent out, you have 2 options, survive and extract, or attempt to kill the boss for extra credits.
That's my vision, and not to say you are wrong, but I think the option to run should not be there.
