Exactly. Those are standard features for games like this. If they are missing, something is very wrong. :P

Wow! I’m super excited about all these new features! Equipment for party members, armor changes people’s appearance and decisions that actually matter! Is there a release date yet? I have a feeling 1992 is going to be the best year for RPGs yet!

Brilliantly said! I'm super excited!

I don't quite understand - why do you need to know what your character will say?

How can you roleplay a character if you don’t know what you will say? How can you pick a choice if you are just guessing? It is called RPG because it is role playing.

Very easily. Alpha Protcol did it really well. Great dialogue system.

I have lost all hope in the Dragon Age series after DA2, so i also say no.

Not to mention they will annouce the usual BS ''PREORDER HERE (INSERT X RETAILER) CRAP for X bonus weapons/or extra dlc'' all over again -.-

its clear, do not expect much. If you want to enjoy bioware games considering the recent trend. Just accept it wont be high quality, will be filled with cheese, useless fetch quests (DA2 and ME3) and BUY DLC PROMTS!!!

My optimistic guess is it'll be better received then DA2 but no where near as successful as Origins.

It'll be better than DA2 I figure, but I doubt that it will be good enough to fully restore the jaded members of the fanbase (i.e. me).
At this point, Mass Effect is clinically dead to me, and Dragon Age died way back with DA2. Dragon Age 3 is a chance to revive everyone's faith in the company. In fact, Dragon Age has the benefit (which ironically was one of my big complaints about DA2) of having each entry in the series being essentially isolated in terms of story and characters. Even if you hated everyone in DA2, that does not necessarily mean that you will hate DA3, because it will probably be mostly or all new characters.

The success of DA3 seems very important at this point.

It'd have to be a lot better than DAII was. That's for sure.

Apparently this is too difficult for Bioware to do.

I'm pretty sure it won't appeal to me, as even DA:O had hurdles to overcome, like the confined level design and pseudo turn-based combat. I know some people love that, but twitch-based is more my thing. As for if it will be successful? I doubt it, because the way Bioware made such a hodgepodge of it in DA2, the series now seems to lack an identity. That's not going to help it.

I'm sure it will have some good character moments, but like every BioWare game, it will have questionable story decisions that are dictated by the limitations of the medium. The railroad tracks will take the player in some odd directions. With the sample size we have now, it's clear that it just comes with the territory. I won't be preordering Dragon Age 3, but depending on the response of people who play the game, I might still get it a few weeks after it comes out. Dragon Age 3 will definitely benefit from our collective lowered expectations, I think.

Isn't it a little too early to call? We know next to nothing about DA3 so far.

Then yes, it will succeed. Because to date none of their games have pissed off the whole fanbase and it's statistically unlikely that any game ever would. Since, you know, not everyone shares the same opinions or looks for the same things in the games they play.

If you're not going to believe me, I can't make you. Though I am a little insulted.

And isn't DA2 easier than Mass Effect, with the icons and all? (Wouldn't know -- the demo was so ugly that I still haven't played the game, though I suppose I'll get around to it after I'm done with ME3)

Anyway, my main point is that the traditional system has limitations too, so even if the DA2/ME system gives a couple of disconnects, this doesn't prove much of anything.

I am not trying to insult you, you probably can not even remember the first time you played the game it was so long ago and the second time you play the game it gets much easier.

No, ME games are much easier for me to know what my character will say and have no problem at all.

DA2 is much harder even with the icons because the text contradicted what the icon meant most of the times and i don’t care if other people say otherwise because i will not believe them.

I am very good at guessing so if i have problems then other people will also.

Edit: i see you changed your post and have not played DA2 so my mistake.

Wow. So "my experience does not match yours, so therefore you must be either lying or misremembering or are just plain wrong."

Wow.

That'd make sense -- if I hadn't just played ME3 for the first time.

But if you're just talking about DA2's implementation rather than the paraphrase system itself, I'm not disagreeing. Like I said, I couldn't handle the ugliness of the DA2 demo.

It's called voiced dialogue.

I could not bear to sit through any kind of dialogue interaction, whether it's an NPC, the PC, whatever, if I read what someone is going to say and then hear them repeat the exact same thing I just read. It's incredibly boring.

Granted, some of the dialogue wheel choices may have been poorly worded, and I think the little icons were lame, but it's still better than reading a long monologue and then listening all over again to what you just read.
