Jack is the most easily killed squadmember in ME2.
This will never happen, because all the people who ended up killing her wouldn't be able to use the DLC. That's why there are stand-ins for practically every character in ME3, just in case they were killed previously.
Seriously. I love Jack. I think she's awesome. This will NEVER happen.
No she isn't. She always the first squadmember to die if you never upgraded the Normandy's armor, but as long as you do so, her death is easily preventable. Thane is the most easily killed squadmember because there are two instances during the suicide mission where his death takes priority over everyone else. Even Tali's death takes priority over Jack's during the "Hold the Line" sequence at the end of the suicide mission and she's a full time squadmember.
As for the whole "she's dead in the default game" thing, I can easily see that downloading a Jack squadmate DLC will "retcon" her status to having survived the second game. Remember that Wrex died on Virmire in a default Mass Effect 2 game if Mass Effect: Genesis wasn't installed.
Yeah...and Wrex is still dead in the default Shepard's story in ME3.
The fact that Jack is dead in default playthroughs is the entire reason she won't make it as a DLC squad mate. As much as I like her, it won't happen. (Although it is a bit strange that she is the only ME2 squade mate who had their look updated quite a bit.

My point is that just because someone is dead in a default, non-imported game doesn't mean that DLC isn't allowed to retcon them back to life. (Provided, of course, you start a new default game.)

I agree with Red Viking, her (or anyone else dying by default) shouldn't really be a problem.
And I also think most of the fans would buy it even though they have never really used her. (or any other squad mate from ME 2 that could one day become playable)

So yeah, if she could come back I would welcome it IF the ending gets significantly better.

63.5% at least. Without calibrations.

And it's not just her, Miranda, Zaeed, Jack, Kasumi and Grunt all had no real reason whatsoever not to join up again after you help them, yet still didn't. Man, I miss them all.

I might even have to do a playthrough with Ashley alive just so Jack could ****** her off.

Now if the Jack quest involved sniffing out a Cerberus traitor which turned out to be James Vega with the option to shoot bits off him in the cargo bay, I'd buy that and even forgive the ending.
Hahaha, now that would be brilliant.

Vega isnt the likely sort.
If this game had been decently written, the cerberus agent would have been Anderson for shock effect. Last place you look for trechery is usually the first place you should look for it.
But Id pay to see Jack turn Allers to paste on a bulkhead. Id pay 10 bucks just for a 30 second vid on Youtube.

They can't make squadmate DLC if they don't already have placeholder files in place. That's why Zaeed and Kasumi had game files even if you didn't install the DLC. As far as I know the ME3 game files don't contain any hints of squadmate DLC.
But can't they just add those files later via downloadable content?

They'll never release a DLC that cannot be used by 100% of the users in 100% of their playtroughs.
It would mean to prevent themselves from selling to some customers something they invested time and resources on, and I don't think it will ever be possible.

Well, it's nice to know I'm not alone who thought that way.
