No offense, but we're not asking for it to be "easier". Just something that doesn't strain the eyes as much as that lovely Nintendo 3DS. I look at that screen for a few seconds and get an almost instant headache <_<. Some people are more sensitive to optical effects like blurriness/3D/etc. No harm asking for those people to be taken into consideration so they too can enjoy the Geth characters.

Fair enough.  I'll accept that.  But really, only the very sides of the screen seem blurred at all.  The rest, just seems to be high contrast, with some blue lines going across the screen.  It's not that bad.

Its not the brightness so much as its the blurriness, it makes you squint to focus and puts unnecessary strain on your eyes. Try it for a few hours and see what happens.

I played my Geth Engineer for hours last night, with zero problems.  Didn't bother my eyes, wasn't very blurry.  All it seemed to do was brighten the screen a bit, and add some doodads and thingamaboppers on the screen.

...To you. It's not that bad -to you-. To me, I have to focus very closely to see what's going on. Even then, I run into walls, run off ledges, and my sheer focus makes me VERY easy to flank and sneak up on. And while I'm lying there, dead, I'm realizing how much my eyes hurt.

Weakened shields is enough, I'd like to be able to tell what's going on. And as was said, some peoples' eyes are better at it than others.

Effects I can list:
Blurring for the entire peripheral vision
Scan lines??
Brightness
Weird 3D doubling effect
Triangles

Is all of this really necessary?

I'll note that I lasted two matches before I had to turn the game off and take an aspirin.

That's all I lasted as well. I couldn't play more than 2 matches with that effect on before I couldn't take it anymore. My poor hot pink Geth named "One" is going to start gathering dust

maybe it would help if some people turned the brightness down a bit?

My TV isn't that bright and it still strains the eyes after a while. I wasn't having issues with it at first, but you definitely feel side effects sooner or later.

This was my experience as well.  At first I though it was cluttered, but no big deal, then it started to wear on me.  I turned Brightness way down (too dark to play without Hunter on) but saw no improvement.

I don't get a headache, but in some maps the effect is annoying. I couldn't perform the same as I perform without the effect, so enhanced vision is a joke lol. In some maps the effect don't bother me

It sorta looks like it has a double vision 3d effect going on, certainly strains the eyes over time.

Its chromatic aberration, which is a a type of lens distortion where the lens is unable to focus the different wavelengths of light on the same plane (resulting in a rainbow effect on the edges of things). But the effect is very strong. Theres also a strong blur effect, middle to strong bleach bypass (or some similar type of effect), a film grain type effect (I think) with scanlines and a graphics overlay with Predator style decals.

Theres alot going on and I find it disorienting over long periods. If anything because the screen becomes so noisy that you have to consciously blot out all the noise. After a while it just feels like work (both for your eyes and your brain).

The should just have the overlay and colored opponents and that's it.

I shouldn't get a migraine from playing a game.

I've had no trouble with it. I just hate it as an ability as it makes you the weakest thing with two legs in the entire game. Avoid it at all costs

I agree. This needs to not be. It's just...horrible. Like the reave effect. What about this makes it a good idea? Nothing? Correct.

I love what Geth Hunter Mode provides in terms of buffs, mechanics, and capabilities, but I really really really really really detest the Hunter UI and changing of the screen and the brightening etc. It makes things foggier to see on my screen, not to mention more busy and messy.

Also not sure if anyone notices but when the objectives come on screen the blue square locators get lost with all that HUNTER MODE crap , I have to turn of the mode to find where the objective is and then turn it back on which which makes me use up my precious shield.

Signed. Remove/highly reduce blur, reduce brightness and make the symbols on the side less invasive...
It not only hurt eyes, but it effectively reduces the awarness... like you keep focusing on the middle of the screen as the edges of the screen hurt eyes and kind of make you lose orientation...

Just to be clear. It's not only the blur. If most of people problem is mostly it I will put Rage, Marksman and Adrenaline Rush in the tittle. Can you see how the screen gets doubled/splited/neted whatever. Thats the big problem. The blur thing is fixed with -2 brightness, but even with it after u turn off the hunter mode you see how you eyes basically become more calm.

Keep the thread alive!

I dont think the other powers are much of a problem, in no small part due to no-one playing soldiers.

It may be a platform thing - I am playing the game on the 360 and maybe some of the fine details making it painful to PC gamers are made somewaht less unpleasant by the upscale from 720p to 1080p and the distance from the screen.

edit: I just took a quick look at the profiles last few people posting in this thread and it seems like 360 gamers dont mind the Hunter Mode as much as PC gamers. That said, I only checked few people.

I think distance from the screen may be a nontrivial facotr.

At my PC, I'm normally arm's reach from the screen.  When watching/playing on a TV I'm much further away.  It's possible that the distance may lead to people trying to "focus" when only the middle 25% or so is actually IN focus.

Once you get out to the S in Station it's visibly blurred (more obvious fullsize, but didn't wanna post 2 fullsize screenshots).  I find that with a number of people, trying to subconsiously focus something that's not IN focus, especially if it's not obviously so, gets REALLY painful.

On top of which you have the brightness change, and with many people it leeds to headaches and tunnel vision as they focus on the small part of their screen they can actually see without the hurty.

The blur effect makes enemy hard to see, especially grenades. And it is also hard to see mission targets.

I don't mind the patterns around the edge of the screen (although as mentioned, contrast is a bit high).

What I find really gives me eyestrain though is the blurr effect and flickering lines that move across the screen.

The geth infiltrator is awesome, but I don't think it's worth getting a headache due to all the visual issues with hunter mode. I'll stick with the salarian infiltrator until it is fixed :)

I really need to get my hands on a Geth and try this.

But since it's such an awesome ability, especially to see through cloaked ennemies, it should have some downsides to it. And I'm sure I'll be perfectly fine with it.

Can anyone post a screenshot ?

Doesn't effect me in the slightest. Make it an option to dim it but don't fix what isn't broken for the rest of us. Really lightens up Condor and Reactor.

Brightness is not the problem. That can be fixed client-side. The problem is all the floating shapes and the weird filters and the scan lines and the blurriness make it actively difficult for me to tell what is going on. I apparently look quite a bit like a NPC, running into things and pathing poorly.

The way i see it is that is balances things out. limited visibilty for an increase in speed etc. Playres running around with it on the WHOLE match are can't really complain. Why would you use it the whole match and sacrifice shields? Just don't use it so much.

Personally, i find it fine. Then again i don't sit one foot away from my screen.

Please reduce the effects because I love using my GPS geth infiltrator. Every other game I have to stop for a while because because I get a light headache from using Hunter mode to stalk my prey :(

Ok, for some reason my hunter vision looks really blurry. Like, "watching a 3D movie without glasses" blurry.

However, when I turn on fraps, it looks better. Still very glaring, and hard to see, but better.

I still hope they fix it to look less blurry, though. Even the video is headache inducing if you're playing a twenty minute round.
