Hi, well I think dvelopers wanted the confusing hud and not knowing for sure what is behind obstacle and what is  not. Reason is the game balance. The hunter mode has really neat bonuses and this makes thing more balanced. If someone cannot fight and adapt to it, they should not use it. I think this is quit fair.

Personally,  I didn't have any headache/brightness issues with hunter mode except for this -

TheWarofArt wrote...

It's hard for me to see the objective arrows and diamonds on targets/weapon-triggers during objective rounds because of the geometric designs. If the opacity on them was lowered OR the objectives were made for visible specifically for geth players, that would make it perfect. Currently, I need to turn off hunter mode for a moment to find the next objective and turn it back on.

Set up my infiltrator as a melee specialist, so it's really nice to see whole groups of enemies crouching in an adjacent area while I wander in cloaked and use the pulse heavy melee attack to take out the whole bunch.

I haven't managed to unlock a geth yet, so have not seen it first hand. But if it is half as bad as the migrain-O-vision that is marksman then I don't think I want to until (unless) they fix it. Can we please get marksman fixed as well while we're at it?

Believe me marksman isn't half as bad. Hunter mode defintiely tops out marksman, adrenaline rush and rage...

Here's a tip:

Use dark colors when customizing Geth. Much of your focus diverts from the screen onto the Geth and makes it less disorienting. Making your Geth white and activating Hunter Mode is asking for trouble. Turning down the brightness also helps with this.

Hunter mode's really "neat bonuses" are also balanced by half shields and their slower recharge rate. Eye strain and disorientation SHOULD NEVER be justified as game balance. It's not just a case of one out ten or maybe less complaining about eye strain/head ache. One or maybe two out of ten are OK with hunter mode "enhanced vision" rest are not. If there is a 14 page long thread with players complaining about one thing then this isn't OK.

Normal game vision without hunter mode active is fine for every mass effect 3 player otherwise there would be a longer than 14 pages thread. They shouldn't over do the visual effects of some powers. Just keep the vision same as normal mode and put triangle/reticule in center and enemies in range coloured red...

I had no idea what was all over my screen for a while. Once I figured it out it was ok except I couldn't find the blue target diamonds or objective arrows very easily.

I agree to have bonuses less neat than current if they make the effect less painful to the eyes. If there was fork in this skill tree "have the half bonuses but no HUD and color effects" i'd pick it as a no-brainer.

Darker maps, like the reactor is where I had the problems.  I turned the brightness down so low I couldnt even see the stairs anymore. It was more like a black ramp. And even then, it still hurt a little. But when I got on a map that was outside, it wasnt that bad.  Ive heard mix results too.  Some say it hurts, others dont mind.  But turning down the brightness of the mode seems like an easy fix.

Hello friend

well, here are fourteen pages. Not so bad due the fact, there is at least 250 000 players. Trolling a little hehe. Still I think it is ok, and also lowering the brightness help. And when some areas are dark, it means there is no light, Like in reality.

I usually avoid online petitions, but I have to support some kind of graphical change for this power. Yeah, it can cause headaches. I have to turn it off between rounds just to give my eyes a rest. Even for those it doesn't actually harm, it makes the gorgeous environmental design harder to appreciate.

It has very little to do with verisimilitude, and a lot more to do with inducing raging headaches. As with Krogan Rage mode, players NOT should be punished for using an ability or function. it's just bad design.

There should be a toggle that simply leaves the overlay and colored targets and nothing else. Same for rage mode.

We're all talking about the same thing, right?

This reminds me of when loads of people were saying that the shaky cam in Cloverfield made them motion sick and I could not comprehend what they were experiencing. I empathise if it's causing actual eye strain, cause you know, if it hurts it hurts, but seriously scratching my head as to how. Does using Google cause eye strain? it's mostly white.

I played Geth Engineer on PS3 last night and thought that the clutter/blur around the edge of the screen was a conscious trade off, causing you to use the mode wisely, but maybe if you're playing on a small monitor it's more intense? I dunno.

It's not even that bad. People will complain about anything...

For the people that are genuinely in pain from playing or whatever, that's gotta suck but what about the people who actually like hunter mode as it is?

I love this ability but I can only play my geth engineer for 1 game and switch off to let me eyes rest. Still, the geth classes are awesome.

Would be nice if it was a little less cluttered on the HUD
Makes it hard to see anything on the new maps at times
Cool ability but just needs to be tweaked

if this does not give you any pain, then keep using it. for those like me that get massive headaches in less than 30 seconds when we turn it on, however, it is a problem. we are not complaining just to hear ourselves whine, it is an actual physical pain. when I unlocked my geth, after using him for one game, I had a throbbing migraine that was unbearable. 3 advil and 2 hours later, the pain stopped. a video game screen should not do this to a non-epileptic player. so yes, for some of us, it really is that bad.

I've been using the Hunter mode more often lately to see if I can get used to it and it's not so bad anymore. I'm at the point where I don't even notice it anymore and sometimes forget that I'm in Hunter mode.

That sucks. You know, if Bioware were to tweak it, it's not like I would mind. It weird how this affects some people and not others.

even with my brightness lowered it just herts. I could deal with all the extra crap on the screen if it wasn't so freaking bright.

I'd support changing the brightness of it and making it easier to see the objective markers.

brightness:
played 1 game on infiltrator after i got it, using a sniper. after that took a break because eye strain was O_O

objective markers:
It could be a little difficult to spot the objective markers, especially the enable/disable ones. It's not a huge issue, but I wouldn't mind not having to waste a few extra seconds actually determining where the objective is. (a work-around i found was doing objective waves in "normal" mode, which also gave me a break from the excessive brightness.
