The migraine issue hasn't stopped me from playing them, but it has got to the point that I automatically pop 3 ultra strength Tylanol before I start playing just to ease things.

I hope, for the sake of your health, that you're joking.

Acetominophen/Paracetamol doesn't help against migraines. Plus 1500mg at once isn't a healthy or recommended dosage. Don't trash your liver for a game.

Hmmm... thanks for the info.  I thought it was still helping, even if eventually the headache/migraine still occured after a while.  Perhaps it was..... all in my head? *BadumCHING*

What do you recommend then?  Ibprofun/Advil?  My liver is fracked up anyway. =]

Only problem I have with hunter mode is when objectives come up, its hard as hell to see that blue marker since geth hunter mode is pretty much the same color.

I have Problems too with the Hunter Mode.

1. I often shoot on enemys behind Objekts, i cant see was there bevor or behind a Object
2. Its hard to hit an enemy with this realy ennoing red light and all the Symbols on my Screen
3. Where was my Cursor?!?

Please remove all the useluss Symbols and reduce the Grafik Effekts from the Geth sight, a glowing was enough.
The next Point is it was boring to see all the Enemys as a red network. It was nice that i can see my Eneyms by far, but that was realy annoing.

The hunter vision is annoying not just because of the graphic effects or the destination markers are hard to see if at all, but the possible headache it brings with using it. I cant play more than a single match due to the eye strain I get. Hopefully they will do something to fix it.

Migraines are a very specific type of headeches, they are part of neurological diseases as epilepsy, that`s why they need special treatment and not regular painmedication.
Other kinds of headaches can be induced by visual stress aswell. In these cases regular painmedication might work. But acetominophen shouldn't be used in 1500mg at once, severe paintreatment is 1000mg at once to a maximum of 60mg/kg of your bodyweight per day, everything above that might lead to irreversible liver-damage.
Other painmedications as ibuprofen/diclofenac/ass (aspirin) works against headaches aswell. But I don't advice to use them. Constant use of these medications lead to gastric ulcera by increased production of gastric-acid. 10.000 people each year in america alone die because of abuse of aspirin without stomach-protection. ASS leads to increased bleeding by blocking the function of bloodplatelets. Ibuprofen/Voltaren (Diclofenac) cause kidney-failure when overdosed.

Don't take any medication at all to play a game. If a game causes physical symptoms, you shouldn't play it at all. If the hunter mode causes headaches: don't use it. Sad, I know, as it is really good, but medications aren't meant to make you play a game, they are not supplements or candy and shouldn't be taken lightly. The causal treatment for pain is to avoid the situation that induces it.

If you still want proper painmedication to just play the huntermode, at least see a local doctor and get a proper medical advice which medication in which dosage. I will not give these advices over the internet as I would take legal responsibility for it. Without a proper medical examination I'm not taking that risk.

Thanks for the detailed and helpful info :) That underlined advice is also the best in the whole thread. Hopefully bioware will give us the option to toggle off these eyestrain/headache/migraine causing effects otherwise hopefully someone from USA will file a lawsuit against them for causing discomfort and blatantly ignoring the problem.

I got the geth infiltrator a few days ago. Was very excited about being able to play as a geth, but the blur effects and bloom effects of the screen (and I don't have the screen set very bright) make it unplayable. I've decided that I probably won't be using geth characters until they change hunter mode, because it's currently very unpleasant.

I really hope they tone it down overall, because I'd really like the chance to enjoy playing a character I was excited about the release of =)

I understand some people don't have issues, and that's great for them, but no element of a game should induce physical discomfort to anyone, regardless of hardware or setup (whtin reason). I would hope it's an easy change for them to adjust, because it seems to be affecting a lot of people.

It doesn't affect me too badly ingame, but a single match after I play my GI, I'm forced to rest my eyes for half an hour because continuously playing does result in eye strain.

Krogan rage is pancakes compared to Hunter mode.

I think hunter mode is fine, it handicaps your visibility slightly by clumping the HuD but you get a lot of awesome internal and external benefits from using it, shoter power CD, more damage, you can see enemies round corners, smokescreens and invisibility.

Awesome ability, should it have negative values? of course.

Negative values shouldn't include causing blindness.

So you say that physical discomfort up to clinical relevant symptoms are a valid downside of a games feature?

Interesting. Next time you die on a gold match, you should get a painfull electroshock through the controller ;).

There is no real arguing about this. If a relevant number of people show physical reactions, than this mode is inappropriate and outright dangerous. Don't believe me? http://en.wikipedia...._Senshi_Porygon

Visual informations are encoded into electric activity by the photoreceptors on our eyes retina. If these electrical encodings cause physical discomfort like headaches, up to real symptoms of diseases like migraines, than the visual effect is a healthrisk and shouldn't be in a game.

1) If you don't like the way it is then don't use it.
2) turn down the brightness of your television.
3) If you are getting headaches then you probably shouldn't be playing anyway, epilepsy warnings in front of booklets.

In other words an option for those who cant use the skills as they are designed to lower the brightness would be good, but do I want a complete one way forced nerf? Nope.
I quite like the brightness of both rage and hunter, goes well with my music.

It's not just Hunter Mode, but Adrinaline Rush and Rage Mode are also terrible. It doesn't cause me any pain, but the simple fact that it blurs the screen and obscures colored markers should have stopped it from making it to the retail version. It boggles the mind to think about how it survived the inhouse playtesting phase.

I don't expect Bioware to give a ****, to be perfectly honest. It's in the game because somebody on the inside likes it. They have your money already, they're not going to pay anybody to redesign the display graphics or add options to turn it off. But they definitely should take this as a lesson and NOT ADD THIS GIMMICK TO ANY FUTURE GAMES for the rest of eternity.

Oh don't be such a sourpuss. They could easily make a fix and let you pay for it with Bioware Points (not credits because this is serious business). Everybody wins!

Glad to 'see' this post is on, I also petition against this over-brightness on hunter mode, it is really a huge discomfort. I can't really play more than two matches with a Geth, or else I find my surrounding real world really dark :)

If a negative impact is to be put on for all the advantages we get, there are many others than to hurt the eyes.

Sight out.
