Also, when I run with hunter mode on, it flickers between the huntermode and normal brightneses. It's like a strobe party every time I sprint.

if this does not give you any pain, then keep using it. for those like me that get massive headaches in less than 30 seconds when we turn it on, however, it is a problem. we are not complaining just to hear ourselves whine, it is an actual physical pain. when I unlocked my geth, after using him for one game, I had a throbbing migraine that was unbearable. 3 advil and 2 hours later, the pain stopped. a video game screen should not do this to a non-epileptic player. so yes, for some of us, it really is that bad.
Well the effects faded pretty quickly for me after finishing the ONE game I played with a geth character, but I too got a crazy ass pain searing through my eyeballs and into my frontal lobe after well under a minute of using Hunter Mode... so much so that I had to pretty much give up using it for most of that game and I really don't see the point of playing a Geth when my eyes can't stand to activate their unique power.
So yeah.... add +1 to the fix it 'cos it fraggin' well hurts tally!

1. The hunter mode overlay
2. The blur effect
What I found was that the overlay cluttered up the screen and was VERY overbearing, and that on top of the blur effect made it really difficult for me.
However, since I play on PC, I just went and did a partial fix and reduced the overlay effect by 90%.
Thuogh the blur is still there, the overlay mod actually helped fix the issue for me a LOT.
See this..

If other PC users would like to try this texture mod, I've put it up in my ME texture mods project.

That's actually pretty good. Would certainly counterbalance the eyeball-frazzling factor of BioWare's original HunterMode HUD overlay.

I agree. Its a shame such a great ability is handicapped like this. It can really damage your eyes also.
I think thats the point
because
a) the hunter mode is unlimited, unlike other skills.. it doesnt "time out" or deactivate.it boosts a lot of stuff...
so they added a drawback.. it obscures and adds "noise" to your screen.
but then, I play a lot of Geth Engineer, andI learned to ignore the noise..
I still get owned sometimes from enemies go get me from behind thou...
Um....the drawback should not be physical pain.
It already has a drawback. It halves your shields.

Is this okay to use without getting banned or something?
Also a guide on how to install would be nice

This does not modify the game mechanics or data at all, it just makes the overlay graphic 90% transparent. All it does is changes what gets displayed on your monitor.Gandalfpsykos wrote...

I'll be putting a tutorial up on my project sometime tonight since getting texmod to work with ME3 is a bit complicated (compared to using it for ME or ME2).

Personally, I kinda like it. I think it's supposed to be distracting since it's basically a powerup with little draw back. But it doesn't really distract me.

Enjoy Hunter Mode that doesn't kill your eyes!!
Sorry console players, this is for PC version only, you will have to wait for BioWare to fix this proper.
Thanks a lot, I will make sure to test this the next time I play Geth
Tbh, I lost all hope that BW will at least try to fix this, cause for almost a MONTH we haven't had the slightest confirmation they are aware of the issue, apart from one answer to user pm. This is an incredible disregard for players' health

I just think if they visually nerf it it will lose its gethy feel.
Are you still here on this thread and still against this petition to fix? They can change the skill so that it still retains its "Gethy feel". They're a huge company. If they can't change a skill so that it retains the feel of who is using it then that is just poor thinking on their part. But I for one believe they can excell at altering the skill without heavily impacting the ones who are fine with it. After the change, you'd still be fine with it. So it is in fact, win - win.
I honestly don't know why people who don't find a problem in the skill feel the need to post, bashing or insulting the ones that do. And before you say you weren't insulting us, please look back on your comment about eyeballs. Can't find it? I shall assist you.

So many people with broken eyeballs....
Feels a little targeted. If not... *cough* trollish. It's quite painfully clear you're trying purposely to annoy or abuse others in this thread.
I'm also surprised at after so much time I have yet to notice an actual reply or post from BioWare in here.
But I guess they just need more time since SOOO many of them must be busy with the coming DLC of new content for the wonderful spectrum of colours they love to give us.
But to get back on the real topic again. I happen to like the Geth character but I feel that there is a unessesary pattern of negative side-effects for most of the multi-use skills in the game. I mean, they already nerf out sheilds by 50% I kind of wonder why don't they auto give back 50% sheilds when taking it off. Like the Soilder's AR skill giving back a minimum of 50% sheilds upon use. On top of other things. But maybe that's just me and I like the Soldiers Survival perks more than I do most of anything else. In the end, they lower our sheilds by 50% and give us bonuses. I feel like the 50% less sheilds has no purpose of being there other than to be like the Tech Armour which it didn't need to be in the first place.
50% less sheilds or no. The fact is, it's already a give and take for negative and possitive. We don't need players having eye strains or getting stressed out in one way or another. As for the screen, it doesn't need to be so overly cluddered with nonsense. A few robotic lines here and there with maybe a triangle or three gives it a Gethy feeling without all the added pains of the blur, blue lines and whatnot.

I don't know what they were thinking. Maybe in their artistic minds the Geth have tunnel vision?

Nice solution, helps a lot!
But I still cant play with hunter mode, that blur efect hurts my eyes...
BioWare if you are reading this, please fix this, disable blur, and get rid of the animation, put something static on the screen if you have to for my eyes sake!
