Kills me after a long day and my eyes are already weary (I wear contacts, it really wears down your eyes) and I think its silly to add an effect to a power that actually is causing pain to people. Last time I checked most companies go to extreme lengths to simply make sure their valued customers are not being HURT physically by their product.

Have a nice day all

I love HM, it makes me feel like I'm actually playing a Geth. Take an asprin and shut up

I hate when Condor or London comes up during Plat runs. I can hardly see a thing.

Well I'd rather not have to take an asprin in order to play a video game, I feel like most people dont like getting headaches from things they enjoy doing...but maybe thats just me. Until it gets fixed I'll keep rolling with my quarian cutie...heheh don't get in her way

If you have to take meds to play a game that under any other circumstance (even Vorcha blood lust and devistator mode) then something is wrong with the game and not there players. No shut up cause it is a legitimate health issue. Eye strain is not a joke.

Now if you'd bothered to actually read any of the actual complaints instead of being a Debby Downer it comes down to three things:

• Unnecessary Brightness boost ( 2 to 3 higher then needed)
• Extreme blur outside the little center triangle
• Random garbage flickers  and static that almost look like bad Vsync

Note, no one is really truely complaining about the overlay graphic that hogs the screen. That can stay, but the other three points need to go, and should have been gone months ago.

This had better in the mega patch cause otherwise I'm going and modding my PC to get rid of it if possible. EA/Bioware policies be damned.

How about they just make the indicator arrows switch to red in hunter mode instead of light blue? I agree they can be more difficult to see when blue, but I don't think it's not that bad. Red indeed would be an improvement.

I'm sure they made the screen like that deliberately to handicap the power a bit for balancing reason (i.e. the obscuring effect is so obvious that you'd have to think Bioware knew it'd be annoying). However, I think it's really a little too much. They did the same for devastator mode and it's not that irritating. So yes, I support a change if it's possible. There are enough artists in Bioware so they must have plenty of other ideas.

If the annoying visuals are not there, they would probably make it a timed thing, like annihilation field, with or without the shield penalty.

Or give us instructions on editting the coalesced file to get rid of it until bioware do the right thing and alter it to an acceptable state.

It's annoying and disorienting. For me it's the symbols more than the blur, but both are bad. I spec completely out of Hunter mode on the GE, and just don't play the GI for more than a match or two. Even that's enough that I feel the strain.

You can tweak brightness on your tv or even from the options menu in-game. The objective not showing up is more of a mental "deciphering" issue that results from too much time spent staring at the screen. Your brain cannot separate the HM shapes and the obj marker and it confuses you. Actually DM and BL both have red reflection which could be bad for your eyes if you have ceizures as well as your character melding with the background. In general if you are irritated by the screen effect and are unwilling to take meds then WHY are you playing video games?

It's disorienting, unpleasant and it obstructs vision.

No, it's a bit needed. The Post Processing modes deliberately punish players.

As someone who does game design for a living, all I can say is:

"Who does that?" A simple toggle and attendant hooks/ not-hooks are what is needed.

Those who like said screen stuff can enjoy it, and those whom enjoy actually being able to still see after playing MEMP can enjoy not having to be subjected to pitch black krogan screen and brain hemorrhage inducing geth mode, and "congratulations we're taking away 25% of your viewable surface Destroyer mode."

Baffling.

I'm comfortable with Krogan's rage when everything's bloody and dark.

I'm comfortable with Vorchas. (besides the fact that a proc plays animation which takes me out of cover and I get killed before it finishes)

I'm comfortable with Destroyer's useless data on screen.

I agree that objectives are much harder to see in Hunter mode, but it is bearable and is not a showstopper.

The real showstopper is the Hunter Mode itself. I spend days (12+hours a day) in front of 90" of three screens, mostly filled with white background. I never feel tired. But two matches with Hunter mode on, on just one of those three screens - and I get a serious headache and have to stop doing everything, and ideally, going to sleep, as it's hardly bearable.

It's not about gamma. It's not about brightness. It's not about contrast. It's about picture itself. It is defocused by splitting RGB components. While it looks just strange at first sight, the brain tries to merge these three channels together, but unlike usually, they do NOT stick together at the same place. So, eyes (and brain) have very hard time deciding which component to focus on. And instead of using any of them (as they are at the same place in real life), eyes tries to refocus all the time to find a sharp point, but there is no focus point! So, it's an endless eyes exercise.

It might have different impact on your eyes depending on resolution you play with, physical size of the screen and distance from your eyes to the monitor, and, may be, graphics detail level you use, and, of course, personal sensitivity. While we can't measure the later, we can gather statistics on all others, and it could help to identify ways to fix it. Is anyone up for that? If so, count me in: playing 30" at 2560x1600 from ~50cm (20") - and eyes hurt a lot! I'd expect that longer distances from the screen, smaller screen sizes and lower resolutions would cause lower levels of headache, but I have nowhere to test it. (well, I can change resolution, but can't get much further from the screen)

I really hope for a fix, as Geth is simply not an option for me now. I don't play them because of this eye problem only.

Agreed. I used it once, and it really annoyed me to the part where I vowed never to use it. I built my characters around not using HM now, which basically nerfs the built and I am sure that is not intended.

Also (a bit) older player.

While I'm not affected I agree. If it's causing genuine pain to some people I won't go against it.

I think the issue is really 2 different problems compounding into a really big issue.
1. The hunter mode overlay
2. The blur effect

What I found was that the overlay cluttered up the screen and was VERY overbearing, and that on top of the blur effect made it really difficult for me.
However, since I play on PC, I just went and did a partial fix and reduced the overlay effect by 90%.
Thuogh the blur is still there, the overlay mod actually helped fix the issue for me a LOT.
See this..

If other PC users would like to try this texture mod, I've put it up in my ME texture mods project.

If I use this to tone down the Hunter Mode visuals will this get me banned from ME3?

I want this as well... GI and GE are my best of each of their classes, but I can't play them for long

Excuse me for not reading 45 pages of posts but, Hunter Mode is intentionally hard on the eyes as a tradeoff for it being such a powerful ability.  What next, buff Geth health too?

It doesn't hurt me to use it, but my friends have problems and so won't use it at all. And when I do use it it makes it more difficult to see in any case, which is kinda ironic since it's supposed to help visibility (wallhack)
