Geth hunter mode hurts my eyes.

I like to use them, but HM is just unplayable for me.

I'm not joking. Games come with a warning about epilepsy and seizures. You think those games. Should be made safe fore everyone? Bioware take an active part in the community, automatically people believe that they owe use something. How about the great trilogy they gave us. I bought this game for s.p. but remain for m.p. they don't owe me anything. If I can't use something, I'll find something else. I guess its ok to ask for change. Its not ok to whine after change is not implemented.

Nonsense.  Games are expected to adhere to a standard of health and safety and part of that is developers must avoid flashing or eye straining imagery being heavily displayed.  While the image of the geth hunter mode would be acceptable in small doses, it is not acceptable for display over an extended period.  In professional game testing the image would be passed through an examination device to inspect its true danger to the eye and the fact so many people struggle with it suggests it would fail this test.

Either this was put through testing and passed (I'd be astounded if that is the case), it was not tested at all, or it actually failed the release requirement checks and was put in anyway as additional content is a grey area.

I think Bioware needs to acknowledge that people are not complaining because they dislike it on an intelectual level, or even stating a preference.  We're saying we like your class, we want to use it, but doing so is actually causing us actual health problems.  If it is not listed for a fix, I'd like to know why, and if that reason is that no further patch is planned, so be it.

Darkseid, I think you are displaying a real ignorance in this discussion.  It doesn't affect you so you don't care?  Horrible attitude from someone who obviously has a lot of growing up to do.

I just figured out why it hurts these peoples eyes. All the crying you do made your eyes sensitive. Tone down the crying and maybe your eyes will hurt less!

lol I am completely kidding that just popped in my head so I had to post. OK bye.

The BSN Forums are like staring into an open cesspool.

It's really quite impressive how you can attract such depths of humanity into one little forum.

Eye strain? Migraines?  Nah, they don't care because it doesn't personally touch their self centered little worlds, and these children think thats an acceptable attitude :?

Here's a tip people.

The bright screen hurts your eyes? Turn on a light behind the screen, or turn DOWN the brightness OF the screen.

Have an issue DO something about it YOURSELF, don't whine and cry about it.

I've done my growing up. Its time to grow down. I pay taxes and work. Being insensitive to a minor problem that others have is in no way childish. Its not like I'm ignoring starving children, or abused animals. Clearly, this issue was ignored by devs because it was seen as a non-issue. Something a small amount were affected by. Not all aspects of any game are easily accessible to everyone. Maybe its time for you to grow up and accept your shortcomings. You want to know my shortcoming,? Deosnt get along with others. P.s. trollllolololololollol.

Here's a tip.  If there's a 50 page thread about an issue, you might not be the first person to have noticed a common "solution".  It probably doesn't work for everyone.  Next issue, THINK rather than ASSume.

The eyestrain caused by blur postprocessing has nothing do with altered contrast. The two issues have completely separate fixes. Altering contrast does nothing for the postprocessing issue.

I brought this up earlier, but a similar issue was reported by Nintendo Virtual Boy users, as well as users of the new Nintendo 3DS. This is because the methodology they use to create a stereoscopic image has a similar blur due to how it operates, ergo causing eyestrain.

An analogous, but not quite identical, thing occurs when using anaglyph 3D glasses for a while, for much the same reason.

Point of thread: "Mommy mommy! The bright thing makes my head hurt!"
Answer to thread that apparently no one has realized in all 50+ pages: "Make the bright thing less bright, YOURSLEF. Don;t cry to us because you don't want to do something for yourself and expect to be catered to."

GREAT MOMENTS IN BSN LOGIC:

Problem:
Console players have eyestrain problems with Hunter Mode, due to its Gaussian blur effect which causes eyestrain, far harder than similar blur induced by Krogan Rage or Vorcha Bloodlust.

This is an issue that has been brought up repeatedly since Resurgence.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Logical Analysis: This is a console-exclusive issue, as PC users can remove the Hunter Mode filter entirely with mods. Many people have reported eyestrain-induced migraines, dizziness, and headaches after protracted periods of using Hunter Mode.

There are over 45 threads on BSN alone discussing this issue.

Logical Conclusion: Hunter Mode's gaussian blue and clashing brightness are too intense, and should either be ratcheted back or adjustable via player options. A petition has been formed to cover this issue and make the developers aware of the issue.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

BSN Random User Analysis: There must be something wrong with people who are complaining, irrespective of whether or not those complaining actually suffer eye strain/migraines/etc. The fact that people are discussing this issue somehow offends me and thus I must contribute towards ensuring as little productive discussion goes into the thread as possible.

BSN User Conclusion: You're not the majority so STFU and go away, the ability's fine as is, lrnplyfgt

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Two completely different worlds.

Here's an answer to the "console exclisive problem" I am a console player, I do not suffer from these HM induced headaches, but I understand where people might be coming from. The simple solution is to, as you said, use the controls we DO have to change the effects we recieve, turn down the brightness on the screen.

Back when people first started complaining about this I wondered what they were so worked up about, so I turned the brightness on my screen up till it became annoying, I was only at about 50% at that point, so, if people are running their screen at 100% brightness...it would cause some major issues with their eyesight, not only in short term but in long term.

So, in conclusion...turn the brightness down, and you won't have an issue.

This issue is not planned be patched, which is why it is not addressed in upcoming patch 1.04.

If the Geth Hunter mode is not to your liking you can change the brightness in game or on your monitor/TV or you can choose to play another class.

The problem is not the brightness. The problem is that it's very glitchy and switches on/off rapidly sometimes. Usually while running and turning.

Now THAT is a completely different issue that would be caused majorily by lag...

Tell that to the astigmatism in each of my eyes. Brightness is not the cause.

When ones is lagging they can see it manifest in many areas. Strange that the only thing that shows any signs of lag is HM screen overlay....

I cannot bear to play this game with that character anymore as I have noticed headaches after each match and my eyes hurting. Just give us a white outline on the geth instead of that painful visual speel. I love what this character can do in game but it's simply not pleasant to play as him because it's pains me to play him.
