So here's how it plays out in my head. Shepard reaches the Beam and once inside a cutscene shows the Beam switching off but Sheps gone.

Meanwhile on earth

Garrus is in a defensive sniper position picking off marauders and cannibals
unaware that a Marauder is coming up behind him.

Grunt Wrex and the Krogan are faced with massive amounts of ravagers
and are about to be overwhelmed

Jacob is opening fire on husks and marauders when a cannibal is aiming at his back

Zaeed is firing with Jessie until she suddenly jams he holsters her as a wave of Marauders charge at him

I could go on and on with every character but i'm sure you get the point.
We'd cut back to the incredibly boring Illusive man Conversation for a bit but then
If you have a Low EMS you'd watch your friends be massacred but if you had a high enough

The marauder sneaking up on Garrus suddenly hears beeping looks down and sees a mine then blows up right behind garrus without him even looking back.

Grunt and Wrex {Roar?} and blood rage and the tide shifts quickly against the Ravagers including the monsters trying to retreat.

Jacob leaps out of the way as the Cannibal blasts a Marauder and then shoots the Cannibal down.

Zaeed pulls out another gun shoots an barrel near the Marauder wave suddenly it explodes lighting the oil slicked ground on fire burning them and he smirks and then turns off screen and begins to shoot again

We'd also see Asari , Salarian , Geth , Alliance, and Quarian forces fighting the reaper forces.
