There
are a few things that Dragon Age  3 hero
must have!

First let's look at Mass Effect! (bare with me)

Shepard: Was
Inspiring! (If you chose to be the Ultimate hero)

Shepard: Did Epic
things, Said Epic and Inspiring Things!
Had Epic and Inspiring Music!

Shepard: Was
destroyed by a ****ty Ending in Mass Effect3!!! /cry Histarically! ... Extended
Cut not yet Released so we shall see regarding this Artistic Integrity

Emotion
Invoking
: Mass Effect did this and it was AWESOME!!  HOWEVER! Once you've toyed with a Customers
Emotions like this in a game of hope and Survival against all odds,
DO NOT FORCE US TO DIE WITHOUT CHOICE!!
ESPECIALLY IF WE HAVE SURVIVED FOR 3 GAMES AS AN ULTIMATE INSPIRING
HERO!!!
  The ENTIRE Mass
Effect Series is DEAD to most of the Fan base who were emotionally traumatized
by the Ridiculous and Unavoidable death of Shepard.....

Dragon Age 2: Had Hawke!  A
Great story about a character starting with nothing and Rising to Champion!

Honestly...
Too many mundane things in Dragon Age 2, got boring.  Good story, I go back to DA2 after every so
many Months and beat it again... But... Boring.
Lack of Travel Really hit the game hard!
Good at story and some emotion .... Terrible for action.  PLUS
Dragon Age 2 For Play Station 3 at least, would crash FREQUENTLY!!!  Thank god for 4 Separate Auto Save
Files!!!  Elder Scrolls 5 Skyrim had a
similar problem when your save game got TOO big.  But they fixed the problem with a Programming
patch and now it runs beautifully.
(Something about the game misusing the systems RAM)

Dragon Age 3: Must
Have!

Hawke: DA2 was a
great blueprint for a great character!  I
personally Believe that Hawke should be used in DA3!!!  Given Perhaps a More Badass tone, BUT given
the option to be the Ultimate inspiring Hero (Just like Shepard!)

Hawke: Must do Epic things! Say Epic and
Inspiring things!  Have Epic and
Inspiring Music!

Hawke: Had 2 or 3 Epic Kill/Execution Scenes in
DA2!  But I don't Believe anyone other
than Hawke's Group Actually saw it! (To
quote Jacob Taylor
from ME2: "Its like pissing Yourself wearing Black
Pants!  Warm Feeling Sept nobody
notices")

Certain
Characters
from DA2 Should make a return for use in DA3

Morrigan Should make a return in DA3 as a
usable squad member! and Friend/Love interest if you chose Correctly (Give her
a personality Improvement, Like the improvements with Jack between ME2 and
ME3.  We'll say, Raising a child and
Trying to be better than her mother has Given her a sense of ....
Responsibility?)  ALSO a slight graphics
improvement is called for!  Morrigan's in
game Look in DA1 looked NOTHING like the CG Render of her character!

IF not Hawke: New Hero Must: Do Epic
things!  Say Epic and Inspiring
Things!  Have Epic and Inspiring Music!

Hero Must Have/Do:
Hawke or Otherwise: A Ship!  Get Patrick Stewart to voice the Captain of
your ship! Patrick Stewart's Character will not be a push over however!  He is just as Capable as hawke/hero.  You could lose your ship get ship wrecked and
think that only you and your hero companions survived.  HOWEVER "Captain Picard"  is no push over!  He and Most of the Crew survived and are
already in the Process of Hijacking a Qunari Dreadnaught from a Harbor!  You and your team need to give them a hand
with the last of the Qunari!

Give a
Sense of Travel, Discovery and Exploration!
Lead up to an Epic Conflict!

Chose sides
between Templars, Mages, and Chantry.  Or
Find a way to make peace with at least 2 of them!

Free choices: Give
the Player Complete control of Events in game!
Again Mass Effect!  Chose to be
the Ultimate hero or the Ultimate A**Hole!

Use Carry over Data:
From DA1 and DA2

Combat Could use
an overhaul!  The strategy-esk combat
style is ok, LOVE the improvements between DA1 and DA2!  Still ... Something seems missing!

Better or
more Improved Voice Acting
: During the scene along the Wounded Coast When
Hawke gives an inspirational speech to the suppressed Guardsmen trying to take
the Small Island THE VOICE ACTING ON THIS LINE WAS TERRIBLE!!!!

NEED
to work on Epic and shouting in voice overs :P

Flemeth: could
return as a Major Antagonist of some kind! Perhaps after Morrigan's Child.

Bioware had said that dragon age is about Thedas not the warden or Hawke:crying:.
Flemeth is fine the way she is, nobody knows who or what she is and she can turn into a badass dragon:P.

leave the side choosing to the player, I'll hate to play as mage and forced to obey templars/seekers/qunaries because magic is Evil, wihtout realizing that Evil is inside every single person magical or not.

I don't see the point of getting into DA3 at all if BioWarEA can just crap out an ending and then sit back and count their money from the pre-orders.

I look at is as an investment and return. If I invest into DA3, what are the odds that I will like my return? Right now ... my confidence in the BioWarEA market is very low.

You lost me at Mass Effect. This is Dragon Age. I would rather the game be like DA than ME.

This is the primary reason why I've been ignoring the other related media.

I really dislike the current direction of the games, so my interest in the overall franchise has waned considerably.  If/when I see some indication from the devs that "The Next Thing" will be something I might enjoy, then I would be much more inclined to whet my appetite with more DA media.

Agreed.  I've never played ME, despite having downloaded a free copy of ME2.  It just doesn't strike me as the kind of game that I would enjoy, and I don't want Dragon Effect.

Please no DA2 companions besides Varric and maybe Sebastien. Even though some people hated Sebastien I enjoyed having someone who he didn't try to hit on me most of the time i talked to him and I liked how he was true to the chantry the whole game and didn't change once for anyone.(having real life human characteristics)

1.  A return to the DA1 models for Elves and Dwarves.
2.  Female Dwarves and Qunari.
3.  Your main character can be any race (Human, Elf, Dwarf, Qunari, or Darkspawn).

this was probably said already, but if you have Hawke (which i actually support this idea), and you played it a certain way, you already have a ship and a Captain, and she is badass

this, although i feel being a Darkspawn would be VERY difficult to write.

Personally my list would be-

1/ Voiced Protagonist. However to keep everyone happy maybe give the game two options of voiced/non voiced. Voiced mode retains dialogue wheel etc. None voice gives us a similar system to DAO dialogue tree with PC response in full

2/ Customization. I want a lot of variety in how i can build my character both in terms of appearance and look of gear. Very few games seem to get this right, in fact only three spring to mind (City of Heroes, DCUO and APB). I want variety in my characters and followers. I also want to be able to equip the gear i want on to my followers. No "Iconic" look, let me choose.

3/ Cloaks. Please give me cloaks!

4/ Bow strings! (with apologies to Mike Laidlaw who i think may have commented on the difficulty of this Image IPB )

5/ Crossbows for the player (im looking at you DA2 Image IPB )

6/ Plenty of exploration, a bigger world (not just somewhere "French", Tevinter sounds nice Image IPB ) No reused maps!

7/ More in depth romance options. No offence but no Bioware game has really got them right IMO. DAO came close but still kind of stalls once the romance is "achieved" DA2 also moved in the right direction, Anders or Merryls opinion of the dog for example.Using Mass Effect as an example here, always hated the fact that in all three games you have a couple of convos to start a romance and then only see a return prior to the final "we may all die" mission. No wonder Shepard seeks out danger so much seems like heading of for an all or nothing suicide mission is the only way he/she can get......Image IPB

8/ Tactical combat as with DAO but combine the best elements from DA2. Excluding the roof top ninja waves i loved DA2 combat, certainly for mages they felt far more epic on the battlefield. Find it very difficult to play mages in DAO as it does get boring slowly firing a generic staff blast or standing at the back casting

9/ Old school RPG style crafting, potions, runes, weapons, armour the works basicly

10/ Make it epic! Sure we dont have to save the world but please make our decisions matter this outing. It took me the best part of a year to unlock the achievement in DAO for getting all the endings.

11/ Hire H. Jon Benjamin to voice male protagonist Image IPB

If i had one suggestion i could give the games development team i would say visit Dragon Age Nexus and look at the top 100 downloaded mods for DAO (maybe skip over the improved sex scenes mod Image IPB) It will give you guys a really good sense of some of the types of things your players might like to see. That site is one of the main reasons why i am still playing DAO

Image IPB

Regarding your point about shouty voice acting, that isn't necessarily the actors fault.

I've seen it before in studio's where engineers scare vocalists by telling them not to shout because that precious U87 is sensitive and very expensive.

It really can suck the power out of someones voice when they're put in front of expensive kit.

Bring back The Hero of Neverwinter. Bioware made him vanish too. He's probably living it up with Revan, The Warden and Hawke now.

Hero of Neverwinter: "Jolly good I say ol' chap. They won't find us here."
Revan: "Yeah. No one'll ever think of looking for us here in this tavern.
The Warden: "I must say I enjoy this tavern. What's it called?"
Hawke: "The Lost Protagonist."

*The tavern door flings open and a hooded figure walks in. Our four heroes stare in anticipation at this figure as it moves its right hand up to remove its hood.*

*Who could it be?*

*The Spirit Monk?*

*The Hero of The Underdark?*

*The Baalspawn?*

*Our heroes were brimming with excitement as the figure clasped its hood. Within soon the figure had slowly removed its hood and as the face was revealed our heroes stared in silence.*

Shepard: "Hey guys. Room for one more?"

*Shepard had joined our heroes in the Lost Protagonist Tavern but what of The Spirit Monk, The Hero of The Underdark and The Baalspawn? Where were they? Would they ever be found? Only God knew...*

This on a stick. I think the Darkspawn is negotiable, but everything else is a must-have.

I think the Dragon Age story should show us some people within the world who aren't religious in any way. Just to make the world more realistic is all. Would a mage stuck in the Circle tower really want to believe in a thing called the Maker? Why would they want to believe in a religion that calls them evil (basically) and locks them away so that they can never see the light of day?
Or for the more darker aspect of the world, why would people on the street believe in the Maker? Will they thank him everyday for giving them such a **** hand? Or will they thank him for not being able to get themselves out of the street?

Just two little examples of some of the people who would have no reason to believe in the Maker.

It would be nice to see a change in character from the devout and believers. Even an apathetic character like Squidward from Spongebob Squarepants would be a nice change :D.

We need character variation Bioware!

1) yes a mage in a tower of magi will believe in the maker, andreste and that the magic they possess is a curse, many mages who are afraid will commit suicide as Anders tell's hawke why? they were taken as childrens and were taught about the maker, andraste.
Mages who think is all a lie and the chantry is trying to control them scape circle, become apostates or decide to keep away from cities, The Chasind Wilders dwell within the Korcari Wilds still clinging to the ways of their shamans, the Rivaini are not Andrastians and don't believe in the Maker. Many, especially in Kont-aar, have also converted to the Qun,as their religion and the Qun are not very contradictory. Although there are prohibitions on magic, seers are revered as a matter of tradition. These local hedge witches converse with spirits and even allow themselves to be possessed. And then is the dalish.

Morrigan talks to the warden that many people still works, protect and knows of the Old magic and they are hidden.
The codex also explains that cult members turned to worship dragons because their Old Gods failed them.

Is cullen lying that mages will destroy Thedas? of course. Magic has being alive and worked/crafted before the Maker was heard of. Tevinter culture is all about marrying the magical and strongest family while Orlais and everything orlais ruled is trying to destroy/contain and if possible to control the birth rate of "magical families" by using fear, threats and shaming them of them being cursed by the maker itself.

You would start off underground as an awakened Darkspawn, fighting with the unawakened. When you go above ground, you'd need a disguise. Imagine being a masked hero that never reveals his face. You'd wear a full suit of armor all the time. All of Thedas would love you, and at the very end of the game, they would finally get to see the hero'e face. Epic!
