I've been discussing classes for a while now, with two people from another forum. Basically just wanted to share some of the things they claim and get your opinion on said claims.


- "Energy Drain is garbage. As a result, Salarian Infiltrator is garbage."
- "The Salarian is not better than the Human or Quarian. The only real usefulness is the TC. Energy drain isn't as effective as you make it out to be.
- "Quarian > Salarian when it comes to infl. I can't believe you're even questioning this dude... I'm actually curious to play with you while using a SaLOLrian. Show me that scrub magic brah!"
- "I think any class upgraded to everything X can shred. except Jack's coveted salarian infiltrator LAWL"
- "no the geth engineer sucks."
- "salarian infiltrator is no different from any other infiltrator. energy drain sucks. and the geth engineer is garbage"

Etc, etc.

We were talking about class "tiers" and I was just explaining how the SI is basically accepted as the "best" class alongside the Asari Adept (this is pre-Resurgence).

They refused to post such claims here, so I thought I'd do it for them. See what people think.

I agree!  Anyone with the linguistic agility of a 12 year old can safely be ignored.

They sound like a bunch of morons if you ask me. I'd like to bring tools like that into my game just to hear their jaws drop when my SI racks up more points then the 3 of em put together.

How does ED suck? I think it's pretty nifty. Saved me a few times which led me to help others out, I know that.

Whoever you're talking with were noobs and don't play gold. SI is probably the best gold class in the game. Unassisted kills/minute is just so much higher with the ability to strip shields with ED then 1 shot kill.

SI is also by far the most survivable Infiltrator, since ED restores shields and shield-gating prevents any spillover dmg from effecting health.

Given a SI with ED and a Widow can down an Atlas in 4 hits...these people are idiots.

while treu for bronze and silver for gold because of the lack of shield bleed trough ED is awesome as you don't need 2 shot's making you that more efeective

Energy Drain has saved my life a lot on gold. It's one of the most useful abilities.

I'm often 1st or 2nd on the score board due to damage output and survivability.

I'm not even using a BW, just a widow 5.

Are these people playing bronze or silver?

Thank you, all. The more responses, the better. Normally I'd ignore them, but it was far too easy to shut them down by making this thread and getting feedback from actual experienced players.

Wow... I work best with a salarian infiltrator. I had some people commenting when I joined a game last night "why does he choose infiltrator?" and they went on about it for several minutes... And then when they were all insta-killed by phantoms or killed off by an atlas in round 8 or 9, it was the salarian infiltrator that killed everything so that we could make it to the last 2 rounds.

And I love using Energy drain. I didn't realize it was garbage. I mean while you're cloaked, you can use Energy Drain, refill your shields and still maintain your cloak all at the same time you're sniping at someone...I've always thought they're pretty well-balanced. The Proximity Mine is always fun to shoot in front of a group of cannibals as well.

Energy Drain is probably the best skill in the whole game. I don't understand how you can come to any other conclusion.

It makes many sistuations downright trivial and can save your life many many times. It is the ideal skill for anyone starting on Gold.

Energy Drain is probably my favorite power, it can keep you alive and dole out okay damage. Seems a bit nerfed now though?

I like the Engie over the Infi but they are both good. I run a scoped mattock on the infi for quicker power recharges.

Energy Drain is pretty good. I love recharging my shields at the expense of my enemies :)

wasted evolve, weight doesn't mean anything to a Infiltrator unless you are using powers without cloaking first.

Ok, a more serious response this time around:

Energy Drain:
Does Damage (good)
Does Triple Damage to Shield/Barrier (good, but not as good as overload's x6)
Has an Innate AOE that you can upgrade (good)
Restores your shields (VERY GOOD)
Gives you 40% DR for 10 seconds at rank 6 (VERY GOOD)

Then you have cloak, one of the best utility abilities in the game. 90% Extra Damage, Easy Objective hacking, Easy mob bypass, Easy revives...

WHAT ARE THESE PEOPLE SMOKING?!!?
