Well after redownloading the disc the issue originated on, I'm still now connecting just fine.

Sadly this means I have no way to test if Re-downloading my GT is a viable fix myself

Well never mind, after reinstalling it to HDD and getting no issues, I wanted to test if shutting off my xbox (thereby stopping all internet data from being received/sent) would change anything, and it did.

My game is now back to Hard Freezing that the same location.

And yet again, switching to Disc 2 immediately solved the issue

so on to testing if it will straight load from disc 2 after a shutdown

Ah good point, I didnt think of that

Mines an Arcade I bought new in 2008, so I'm not sure what gen that puts it in actually.

*side note.

After getting the game to load again from disc 2, i wanted to test disc 1 before I tried the shut down and straight load disc 2 approach, Disc 1 did freeze again, I'd swear it has something to do with either:
1. That Disc Itself
2. The disc in the xbox when the patch is Downloaded

That theory has been axed, after hardloading straight to Disc 2, it hard froze in the same spot.
So now on to testing the Gamertag redownload

Which disc type are you getting oyur freeze on
Collector Edition
Or regular

Im using the collectors edition myself.

Collectors here. Just experienced this 3x requiring a xbox power cycle each time. After the third time, I cold reset my Internet router and cable modem and it seems to have started.

Mine froze on the "Connecting to Ea Servers" screen after it got the patch. I hard-rebooted the xbox and had no other problems.

I have an old-style xbox, not the slim.

Current config after testing everything I have seen -

360 slim
regular edition
Profile on HDD (was on stick)
Disc 2 installed (having deleted disc 1 as a trial)
Gamertag re-downloaded

I'm noticing that it seems to work on the disc switch, as long as you dont wait too long (in example where I shut down my xbox and restarted it with a delay the freezing restarted) It's almost like after the patch, for some, it's corrupting some part of the data and quickly changing discs is bypassing the issue(or something).

All good in theory, but this isn't working for everyone so I'm still quite baffled

I hadn't really factored the DLC as I figured it was a mostly yes(it being free), but again this was shortsighted of me.

I will have to see if removing the DLC stops the issue even with a hardboot.

This will take me some time though as my internet is, how shall we say, miserably slow

Testing now by: deleting DLC, shutting off xbox and waiting for all data (from modem) to stop and rebooting. I will try each disc in the same manner.

Outcome: Oddly enough Disc 1 booted just fine, Disc 2 on the other hand hard froze just like disc 1 had been doing.

Try what we've figured out so far (if you already haven't) otherwise I'm baffled at the oddity of this issue.

I can only sumise after all this that for some reason peoples games or data is failing a check to connect to the servers for some reason. Although I can't really stand by that as for some reason, switching a disc will solve the problem, albeit temporarily.

Worked minutes ago. Now freezing. Changing disc didn't seem to work.

Edit:  And now it works again for no clear reason.

See and since I've been jsut working on the initial load up portion I havent had a chance to see what happens once I'm able to login and play.

I just got to trying out readonloading my GT, so I have to test hardbooting again on both discs

I know I have all sorts of fun trying to connect to the EA servers at times in my dorm since the network was made by failing computer engineers doing extra credit.

tldr;
It could be your NAT settings.

I'd have thought so, except my NAT type is open, and have had no prior issues, unless this patch has done something to fudge with something like connection delay or waht not I wouldnt see that as the real issue.

Update: After inserting disc 1 and trying it, it worked fine

This is where the randomness of this issue lies, why would swapping a disc effecet a connection issue it's rather baffling

***AS AN UPDATE**
After finally getting around to re-downloading my GT I have hardbooted (again by that I mean shut off the XBOX, waited for my modem to show no data transfer and restarted) with both discs and havent had the issue arise again.

If not how does this one re-download its gamertag? Using a 360 slim 250gb btw.
