If not how does this one re-download its gamertag? Using a 360 slim 250gb btw.

The discs being saved to HDD seems to not effect the issue(from my testing)

To redownload your GT you can hit your Home Button, Hit X to sign out, reopen your menu with the home button (if needed) and Select Sign In to Profiles. You should see an option of your avaialable profiles and below the option to download your profile.

Same exact thing happened to me last night. Crash athe connection to EA servers part. I turned it off and tried again and it crashed at the same spot. I noticed my xbox was really hot (anybody else notice this) so I turned it off for the night and everything worked fine this morning. Weird. I did not change discs or uninstall anything. My disc drive was spinning like crazy too. I don't think I have ever heard it that loud before. 

Some of these solutions sound like a lot of work. Try just turning off the xbox and booting again later.

Edit* As a note, I had just turned on my xbox when the downlad happened, so my xbox was well rested when this issue first arose*

HAHA, no joke, I've been at this all moring trying to figure it out so people can play the game. It is a lot of work, most of the temp fixes arent actually that time consuming to do (except maybe the gamertag redownloading depending on your internet)

Sad part is I have yet to get a BIOWARE post in this for all the effort, even though I did message Bryan earlier(he responded and such, said they may eventually move the thread to the XBOX 360 issues forums, he also said they are looking into it, I think)

HDD = Hard Drive

Saving games to your Hard Drive can cut down on load times/disc rotations( as any disc drive eventually wears down over time from use etc)

I've been having the problem non-stop since 5:45 AM when it forced me off Xbox live to download the patch. I have called EA 3 times now with new info about the way it is failing at the checks. Please call EA at (866) 543 5435 and give them details on your problems as I have. I will go through the steps I have done so all of you can try and hope for better results.

After every step I tried launching Mass Effect 3 to either get stuck in an eternal load loop or to outright freeze right after the press start screen.
1: Delete system cache (This was done after every time I started the game since the update has been the obvious problem I wanted to test this in as many setups as I could.)
2: Delete online pass then re-download.
3: Remove game from HDD.
4: Deleted DLCs. (Both Resurgence and From Ashes.)
5: Tried both discs.
6: Removed profile then downloaded it from Xbox.
7: Force the Xbox to re-sync to Xbox live by changing the date to 11/15/2005. (You have to be signed out to change the date and time)
8: Installed both discs to my HDD then retried with both discs.
9: Downloaded the DLCs again then tried with my Ethernet unplugged. (Worked to play single player but the moment you reconnect to Xbox live you wither get load locked while connecting to Xbox live or sent to the game start-up because of the sign-in change that has occurred.)
10: Tested my connection to Battlefield 3, Battlefield: Bad Company 2, and Battlefield 1943. All perfect.
11: Received a new online pass from EA support. Did not solve the issue, just started freezing at a different screen.
12: Contemplated the fun of hitting something with a crowbar but then realized I didn't feel like going outside quite yet.
13: Glared at my frozen Xbox hoping it could sense my disappointment of the update.
14: Ate an ice cream sandwich and came to the forums to report the fun I have been having since 5:45 AM CST.

So the last 3 we're not anything technical but they did make me ok with the situation for the time. Just remember folks. This is not an issue with connecting to EA servers. This issue with the with the checks the game does of your EA server connection, downloaded content, save games, then EA server connection again. I have had it actually connect to EA so I could see my Galaxy at war readiness but had a load loop of "Checking downloadable content" overlaying my "Resume game; New game; Load game; Multiplayer; Download Content" menu list so I was unable to hit anything besides my Microsoft button and inevitably, dashboard.

So it is from the word of EA that for some reason people are failing a check during connection?
Like you'll see if posted before, I felt that was a part of the issue, but I still don't understand why swapping the discs for myself (and a few others) would solve this issue.
I didn't call EA myself as I've tried that before and it can be.....an aggravating experience even for simple issues(which this one is not)

Edit* Also your issue is not the same as mine or others from I gather, Once I can get past the point where it has been freezing I can jump around from SP to Multiplayer, edit guns, spend points buy packs etc

I guess we can ignore heating issues. Could be a bug? Hopefully with EA servers so we don't have to wait weeks for another update. Hopefully works tonight when I log in again.

For another option I saw a post about setting your DNS manually to the optimal DNS server from your location (found using a google tool). But that didn't do anything either....

Oh right, both disk are saved to my HDD, and this one never downloaded hits profile to its console until now, rebooted the game and this one is connected. Thanks! Hope you all share my luck.

I have had no issues; I'm using the 360 Slim. The DLC is also downloaded.

1. Download Patch
2. Remove Patch from hard-drive (delete cache)
3. Insert different disc
4. Download it again
5. Bring up the screen where you view your friends whilst it communicates.

It worked for me. I'm using the Xbox 360 Slim, after it kept frozing whilst connecting.

Just downloaded the patch on xbox and can't even get to the title screen.

I had a freeze on the older arcade version with the memory card in it it's happens a few time before and after the patch but isn't permanent

I'm French I have the Xbox slim 250 gb and Mass Effect 3 collector edition, the problem start some hours ago, some time after the update for me. It's freezing at the main menu when I'm connect to EA server.

Yea, I just downloaded the patch once I turned on the game for the first time today. It's freezing while connecting too EA servers.

And here's the relevant info:
- Downloaded resurgance before patch
- 360 Slim (100GB)
- Collectors Edition
