"You can agree with me, or you can be WRONG!"

This is why it's impossible to try and have rational discussions with you and your ilk.

What did i say that was irrational? There were no promises that anyone would scream, they just said that they would ask all of the important questions and none of them were called i guess. So yeah, planted, or screened

The only thing worse than trolling fans who troll forums like morons, are intelligent fans who would report Bioware to the BBB just because of an ****g ending.

According to the BBB it was a valid complaint, therefore it would of been irresponsable not to report it. Bioware will think twice about lying to their core audience again

*facepalm* It wasn't a valid complaint. Its a freaking video game ending.

They didn't lie to anyone, and BBB is a joke.

Just because it's a Videogame doesn't mean complaint about it aren't valid. If we want Videogames to be held as a valid medium, they must be held to the same advertising standards as everyone else.

"No A,B,C endings" "Your choices will affect the outcome" yadda yadda, you know the rest I know you've read it. I do want to point out it was Pro-enders that suggested the reports to BBB. "This isn't the FTC's domain, report it to the BBB" was all over the forums for like a day.  And I agreed, FTC was over the line, but this is BBB's territory.

And, for the love of god, please stop with the pyramid quoting.

Agreed. But it's hopeless. Some people love their pyramid quotes.

And some love not addressing others valid arguments.
Difficult to have a discussion in threads with "trolls gone wild".

@John Epler:
Is 24 hours the only length of ban you have available to you?
It seems to me that if you had some difference in the lengts of time (for example a week for the most notorious trolls) it would make your moderator job easier and some of the discussions more civil/better/constructive for others.

This is becoming ridiculous. Like really, really ridiculous. Its a freaking video game, not really a life or death situation (even though some are reaching that levels). I'm sorry, but this is taking things too far. I think it's time for people to take a step back and look at what they're doing.

It's the only way for the mods to build up any kind of pattern on any profiles in here. The one's who are being reported by enough people should have their punishments served shortly. I like democracy, even on a forum.

Thank god then that this is not a democracy.

I don't think he understands that slamming the report button every time someone disagrees with you is ALSO a form of harrassment and is subject to punishment, do you?

I noticed on the BBB blog entry that many in the comment section posted nearly all of the other false advertising claims, so I would think that if Marjorie Stephens reads them that the investigation will continue.

Except that there is no investigation whatsoever, Bioware is not a member anyway and furthermore:

Advertising Review

BBB has nothing to report concerning Bioware Corp's advertising at this time.

It's a valid complaint if they turn around and say it's technically false advertising.

I come to the forums to look at this stuff on my free time or when I don't have much else to do. I imagine it's the same for most people here. Just because we're adament about our complaints doesn't mean we haven't 'taken a step back' or that we think it's 'life or death'

If it bothers you that much than maybe you should be the one who relaxes. I know if it was stressing me out i'd probably do something else.

No, I'll continue to ask people to be considerate of others and keep the forums relatively easy to read.

Which is a good thing to do, but he DOES have a point in a way. It is very obvious that most posters do not understand to, or simply not bother, to avoid pyramid quoting.

On another note: Maybe you have a company policy forbidding it or something, but I think it would be very interesting if you, or someone else from BioWare could join in discussions such as this one. And I mean with actual points, not just reminding everyone to stay civil etc.., even though that is obviously needed sometimes as well:)

It was a valid complaint about false advertising. Bioware made intentional statements about the ending that weren't true, to increase demand for it. I was sold on exactly those statements. You can say "Its a freaking video game ending." But to EA/Bioware it was likely tens of millions of dollars in additional revenue. So your attempt to demean the point fails.

That just because YOUR issues were not brought up means everyone in the audience was plants is, itself, inherently irrational.

So, you harrass BioWare, filing complaints with the BBB and FTC, sue them, post slanderous billboards by EA headquarters, review bomb their games on Amazon and Metacritic, try to get people banned who disagree with you so that you can turn these boards into even MORE of a festering cesspool...

But it's not your fault.

Got it.

I dont do any of that, and I dont even agree with it except for the "review bombing".
And as for that: A bad product deserves a bad review.

Should I applaud a turd just because otherwise the one who created it might lose his job?!

Besides, legitimate criticism =/= harassing.

If your opinion is that Mass Effect 3 is a bad game overall, and you illustrate that in your review, that is one thing. If your opinion is that Mass Effect 3 is a good game, but a poor ending, that is another thing.

Regardless, spamming Amazon with 0/10 reviews is inherently dishonest. No game deserves a 0/10 - and very VERY few games deserve a 10/10 just to offset that argument.

Well... no games that aren't starring 50 Cent, anyway.

agree with legitimate critcism isn't the same as harassing.

I am curious though for those of you like Father_Jerusalem that don't agree with us....do you think we have a legit gripe about the way they ended the game as opposed to how it was marketed to use using the direct quotes like our choices matter? .....if you disregard the rabid "take backers" and their ridiculous lawsuits and stuff.....do those of us who are just voicing criticism have a point? The "it is just a game" argument doesn't hold water. If that was the case, none of you would care enough to even post in these threads.

I was always curious if they think we are completely wrong about the ending in regards to how it was marketed.

Not to threadsh!t, but to be fair it is not only a VIDEO game forum, it is also the explicit forum for the company that produces the explicit VIDEO GAME we are talking about.

Could there be a more fitting situation or fora to discuss their latest title?

I like that at one point the argument is used: "It's only a game", and the next thing we get is then "Do you want them to loose their jobs?"

I'm sorry, but combining these 2 arguments during a discussion doesn't add up. You can't argue that it's not an important thing and then later argue that it's important enough to keep people in jobs.

And here I haven't even touched on the other points that makes those points meaningless as arguments even when taken seperately.

I just couldn't help but see the funny thing in how the haters (and let's be honest, the ones hurling hate in this forum by now is those that shirk no moment to hurl insults towards retakers and people that sympthaize with them) seemingly jump back and forth between opposing biewpoints in a desperate attempt to... Honestly I'm not sure what they are trying to do... Cause there's no real sense detectable by now in some of the outlying stuff they say...

I see we have lost focus. There are 16 end states to the galaxy after Mass Effect 3, by the way. Here is the math.

We have three colors, red blue and green.

The two possible states of the Genophage turns those three into 6.

Rannoch is left in the state of Quarian, Geth, or Both. Those three states turn the 6 into 18, but the red ending state removes two of them, Geth and Both, leaving us with 16.

From a certain point of view, then, the statement that there are 16 different endings is a true one. The problem is that of all the decisions Shepard made, these are the only three that have an impact on the greater galaxy as it emerges from the Mac-Walters-pocalypse. Everything else is pointless because whatever it effects is either blown up, dies of old age before there is a galactic civilization again, or is simply ignored.

I say we have lost focus, however, because the "16 endings" line is not one of the ones the BBB person took issue with.

Also, I don't really care how many ending there are, as long as I like one of them. The only way for this to happen is for Shepard to be able to save the galaxy. I was prepared to sacrifice to achieve that goal, but not for the ending scene to remove all possibility of it, especially in such a careless manner.

I'm not on the ME team, so it would be rather inappropriate for me to join in this sort of discussion.

I -am- involved in what seems to be a rather fascinating discussion regarding Exploration in the DA2 forum, though. So you're welcome to join me there.

What's really ridiculous is Bioware Circling The Wagons, and admitting no fault whatsoever, despite Dr. Muzyka's statement about showing "humility".
