Yes, I'm sure Bioware loves the idea of your telling their customers to go away.

You're missing the point. People bought their products based on key items that their products were set to include. They were, in essence, tricked/lied to about the value proposition.

The single proof BioWare/EA has to show to refute BBB's claim is to define Mass Effect 3 as a full game AND a set of DLC.

That brings up a whole other pile of rocks to throw.

totally agree.

if i buy anything thats not as advertised i return it to store and get a refund.

i dont however keep moaning about it and try to get the manufacturer to tailor it to my needs/wants.

thats the point your brain has just totally rejected, because it involves far less drama

I have alot of game boxes, they all make alot of ridiculous promises on the boxes, half which don't actually reflect what's in the product, Bioware is no different then other developers, just more obsessed/Fanatical players

The funny thing is that she bases her conclusions on statements that aren't actually false. The false statements would be that the endings weren't going to be A, B, C.

You can certainly craft your own unique experiences and your decisions certainly determine the ending, though not in the way that was expected. Namely, our decisions during gameplay resolved various secondary story arcs and *then* we got an A, B, C choice for the finale.

Did this person actually play the game? Does she know what choice and unique experience means in the context of a game? Because there are obvious limits to those things inherent in the medium. But within the context of those limits, Bioware certainly did deliver on everything except the "No A, B, C" ending. Which was not actually in any advertising, but rather something one of the devs said, IIRC.

It baffles me that there is a bureau dedicated to unveiling Marketing lies.

Marketing is lying by definition, although I admit that it is rarely as bad as with Mass Effect 3.

Marketing is about exaggeration. There are legal definitions of false advertising. Bioware came nowhere close to those. Even with the qualification of using "technically" (which is usually used to mean "I suppose in a very literalist sense, but not in a common sense or practical usage"), her conclusion is dubious.

I'm starting to rather enjoy the ****strom that EA and Bioware have kicked up. Kind of serves 'em right, when you think about it.

P.S.:I can't help but notice that most of the trolls in this thread have deplorable English.

lol EXACTLY. they are having a nerd rand complaining about a nerd rant. no wonder they liked the ending. It uses the same circular logic they do!

as consumers, we have every right to protest the product that was BLATANTLY misrepreseted. EAware's blatant misrepresentation of the ME3 ending was every bit as bad as rolling back an odometer on a used car and claiming "actual miles".

It's about loss.
Imagine you favourite greek restaurant turned into another Mc Donalds.
You are not forced to eat there either but something you liked was removed from existance.

But if you dont "moan" about it, then how should the creator learn and improve?

You and the others who defend BioWare are using the logic of a pupil that is angry at a teacher for criticising his homework and says "I put much work into it, you must accept it".

Sure you did, I believe that, but it doesnt change the fact your result sucked, and you should accept it if you want to improve.

Stomping your foot and saying that you are right will only result in your next homework failing as well.

nice analogy.

off topic but in your sig it says Legion with the "girls". Was Legion female? I don't remember that. just curious why you included Legion. I (admittedly maybe mistakenly) have always assigned a male pronoun to....it?

I've used this example a good number of times myself. Bioware is completely free to ignore this outcry and move onto ME4 or DA3 or whatever. Similar to how a student can refuse to change his work. But you also bear full responsibilities for the consequences of that decision. Personally, I don't think this would destroy Bioware, but if it does, they can't complain any more than a student who gets a failing grade for refusing to alter his vision. The market is rarely fair in deciding what does and doesn't succeed.

Maybe people should stop trying to use Analogies for this sort of thing?
