Hi,

I know dual wielding requires dex, 36 max iirc for all DW talents, and Rogue's do have a talent for making melee damage based off Cunning instead of Str.. which tends to favor stacking cun rather than str..

But how well would a str dw rogue go? Not really interested in the stealth skills as such, more of a light-armored dw'ing rogue of death that given the chance can backstab if can flank or get behind the enemy..

and how would you do the stats? 2/1 str/dex each level? or 2/1 then 1/2 str/dex alternating level's? and this also neglet's getting cunning or wis.. prolly need to toss in some cunning and wis in there.. for skills and sta for fighting..

and if I went dw talents.. as a rogue, I'd still need to get the dirty-fighting line wouldn't I? or avoid that? what other talents would be a must have or worth considering for a str based dw rogue? Would I be able to get at least 1st level of "lockpicking" skilsl from the start? or would that cause problems?

also, with skills.. what would be deemed "essentia" ? the 4 combat training ones obviously... would I have enough to max persiasion as well? or just get 1st few level's? What other skills?

Yeah, I'm a total newb.. I've read a lot of threads.. but they seem to mainly focus of talking about dex/cun rogue's...

Maybe I should go for str dw warrior instead? less talents.. but since I'm basically focusing on dw fighting ability... although I'd miss out on being able to loot the initial area's (at least till I got Lielane (spelling) in the party...).

Any advice would be welcome :)

Stats about magic is the only thatcan be really ignored by rouges. Split most of the point btwn Dex Cun and Str. like every other or 3rd level up, toss one point to Will or Const since they help yout last longer or get higher changes of succes.

Skills the higher the level, the better your charater is at it. (willpower cunning and constitution help here as well)

leaving level 1 at anthing just means your will not be able to do much with that skill regaless of stats. (failing to pickpocket, or disarming a more "complex" trap)

agree combat lv 4 is a must for all charaters on the team, Persuetion helps out a lot was well, as the game progresses.

outside of that designate other charaters to max out one different skill each from herb, poision, pickpockt and traps mix and match the other skill as you like,

Tatics help add more available commands for the charaters you don't cotrol to act certain ways be sure to set then up why you get new slots on charaters (some slots are grated tru level ups),

As for talents:

it wll take the full game to get enough stats an point to get full DW as rogue..

but you end up lossing your change to master Archery and the other specialst classes within rogue bard, assasin , dualist, and ranger which you'll find your how to unlock as the game goes on.

(each class has it own set of 4 specailty class within it to unlock)

lockpick and stealth at higher level allow better use of those skills.

(ei: stealth lv1 just allows you wonder around and must be ended in order to do anything and cannot be used while in combat, lv4 allows you to draw weapons and initiat an attack from stealth)

Full lockpick and persuations are great with any rogue.

also be greedy with stat books and items that add to your stats

good basic information for any rogue

if youre going str, forget about lockpicking (have lel in your party or run through areas with her after youre done) or the hard persuasive checks. this is the tradeoff for a str rogue.

also you shouldnt really bother with any stats besides the 36 dex for talents and then the rest all in str, as if the rest of your party is doing its job, you shouldnt need crazy defense (your tank should hold aggro)

just kidding about the hard persuasive checks, apparently you need 100 coersion for the hardest ones and each skill is +25, so you dont actually need any cunning (with high cunning you dont need all 4 coercion skills to pass all persuade checks)

Haven't tried a str based rogue, but I'm playing a cunning based rogue (level 13 atm) and I find him really imba: if I make my mage paralize a yellow target I can back-stab him to death in no time (3 seconds).

Also the damage I can deal to orange bosses while they focus on the tank is crazy.
