Well, looks like everyone completely disregards the entire post you made and focuses on the very last sentence.

Congratulations KeilxKey, you have proven that things are only judged on the very last thing they end with, and that the 95% of the article not about the last thing is disregarded completely. sorry.

Still though, good to know their trying to make the endings personalized now, that was one of the major issues with the endings.

If I give you an ice cream cone and stab you in the thigh with a steak knife, how will you feel?

I think it is entirely possible to misjudge such matters as this. Not seeing the forest for the trees happens all the time for example in the movie business, rare individuals can distance themselves from their projects to view their films objectively. That's why there is so many films where you think "this would have been great if...".
Then again they do test viewings. One example for this is Cameron's Abyss. The left turn in the end got cut from the distributed version.

Food for thought for when you guys are locking the story structure for da3 :P.

Yeap. That's your Bioware, people. They are completely showing how they have lost touch with their former fanbase. Move along here because there is nothing to see. Put your wallet in your pocket and go play other games. This company is done.

Well how exactly are you going to get a download that size to fit. I mean they are kind of having to work with what they have. I think the best we can hope for is something around the size of the shadow broker dlc. They either are completely out of touch with their fan base or they don't care cause they have our money..... They aren't really offering a light of hope but really the grim nature of the already broken ending. I think the best way to solve this is having shepard wake up and realize he is on the normandy right before they are about to go free earth, and the option you choose with the catalyst is how the catalyst functions in a different way. For example control is the re-writing of the reapers. Synthesis is the convincing of the reapers to stop or something. Destroy is the option to shut down all the reaper cores and leave them as sitting ducks to be completely destroyed. The god child just goes to hell for all I care.

I expect several cinematic about each character/species, and what happen to them, according to your choices. A bit like DA:O, but with videos instead of text.
There is nothing else they can do without re-doing the ending, and they say it will never happen.

That's sad.

Well, they could add some of that in the extended cut. I'm not giving up all hope yet!

We want to make sure that when you see the ending of Mass Effect, you now have the information and context to be satisfied."He added: "It wasn't in the game because we didn't know there was such a huge demand for it, to be honest with you."

they're kidding me right? i almost choked on air when i read that. have they not read any of the Tali and Liara fan loving threads?

The difference is one implicidly states fault and remorse and the other one doesn't.

I am not taking sides on this but just stating what seems factual

Would that mean that the issue is actually not with what Gamble said, but that he didn't include any sort of apology to go along with it?

Saying "We didn't expect it" and "It didn't go over as we had planned" seems like splitting hairs over word semantics, doesn't it?

Not at all.

Question: Why does ME have passionate fans
Answer: Because it connects emotionally with players.

The statements being made are not emotionally connecting with the part of the community that is upset.

Until it does most of them will continue to be upset.

"We didn't know people wanted their choices to matter."

Translation: "We ran out of time and money and thought we could get away with it by making the ending vaguely mystical, like an episode of Twin Peaks or something."

Which leads me to conclude that the people making the ending were not the people who made the rest of the series.

Honestly, if they can make the endings just make sense, I'll accept star child and all that nonsense. It won't be my optimal ending, but I'll be able to live with it.

Well, I disagree that it's splitting hairs. English is quite a complicated language in terms of meanings, and word semantics are rather important in conveying specific intention. I'm sure Gamble means nothing by his choice of words but it conveys an attitude of being aloof and disconnected to a lot of people.

I think at this point, most people just want honest, concrete discussion; solid statements on their own opinions of the issues, not another marketing release filled with statements that are open to interpretation.

EDIT: I understand the reasons why the ME team does not want to discuss anything or debate anything on these boards. But I imagine most decent people would love to have a one-to-one discussion with the writers and other developers of ME3 even if they disagree.

MOAR EDITs: Typos and thought-correction.

Or, put another way...

They say that fans weren't happy with the ambiguity and lack of closure.

So they make sure all their responses are as ambiguous and lacking closure as possible. Image IPB

I"m aware he's a producer, but did he just appear out of nowhere, or has Gamble been involved since 2005?

"To be clear, the Extended Cut is not a re-imagining of the ending or a new ending. We're currently building it right now, our cinematics team is on it"

This. Makes me very annoyed. Anything that does not outright remove the Deus ex machina is not doing the ending Justice.

Sorry, but the star-kid is not art, it's a rushed way to end an epic story to make a financial year end.

What? You didn't know that there was a huge demand for our choices to matter, even though that is something you said over and over was going to happen in the game?

Yep. Pretty much says it all.

Time to beat a dead horse.  Really?  You didn't know?  Are you new to the company or something?  Just get back from vacation/Maternity/Paternity leave?  I will say, Thank You for 95% of this game.

While I can't judge the expanded ending until it is here, a longer turd is typically still a turd.
