I dunno... is bashing someone's face in underpowered? Maybe... maybe not.

haha i know right? and you get so many delightful ways to do it, sure a mage can light someone on fire, but my warrior can decapitate them, and then laugh at the squishy wobbly thing that is their neck without a head on it.

every time i see one of these threads i just get the impression that melee classes should have been dumbed down to the point it was just impossible to make them poorly.

thats basically the way mages are. they are so simple to build and play that you would have to be a complete drooling idiot to get it wrong. i mean really. so everyone always thinks mages are the overpowered super class.

I agree.

actually, it was pretty hard to make a melee character that sucked, unless you completely chose random abilities in different talent areas (like dw two hand sword and shield etc) and then stacked magic on your character. i mean sure there is a way to min max your character if you want to, but honostly, its not neccesary. i mean it might make you feel better when your looking on the forums and go " ah ha, i have a .0000007948378% more effective build than that guy, obviously im a better player" but in the game it doesnt make much of a difference. if you want your melee class to dual wield, then you can just pick all the dw talents and its pretty impossible to go wrong. and after that, take the warrior/rogue talents that you also cant go wrong with. and then take the talents that sound fun, and there you go you have a killing machine. as far as stats? you can debate and all go all crazy on the perfect number stats, or you can use common sense, and it isnt too hard. "mages like magic, warriors like str and dex, rogues like dex and cunning" pretty simple really. so yeah, it is already dumbed down to the point to where it is impossible to make it poorly unless you deliberately try.

I'll agree that warriors/rogues get screwed by not having stamina potions wereas the mages have the lirium potions that they can pop one right after another. They probably should have fixed this by saying that if potions are used too quickly it will cause adverse affects (after all, lirium screws up normal people in the story. "Enchantment!") and therefore put a timer on them.

But dps isn't nessacarily broken. I can't speak for other classes, but I've got a 2H warrior that does 65-90 points of damage A HIT! With crits, it's up to 90-120. Plus stun abilities and an AoE that hits every around me AND stuns (2 hand sweep). My stamina pool isn't great, but believe me, even in beserk mode it replensishes fast enough and has caused me little if no problems (there was one time when I pulled one mob, had another matterialize behind me, and a third mob of shrieks unstealthed right afterwards, but that was the only major case). Even Shale, my tank, can do ~30 damage a hit.

So while yes, mages may get some benifits that OP them, melee for me is holding it's own quite well. Oh, and btw, I'm only level 14. I've still got 6 more levels to increase my attack and completely cream everything that comes my way. ;)

Yes, unfortunately. Image IPB But seeing as this is a RPG forum, basically everything is waaay overpowered!  ...And hopelessly underpowered at the same time. Every class, every race, every specialization, every weapon, every spell. I'm sorry, but that's just the way it is. Image IPB Nothing anybody can do about it.
