Hi, first time this ever happened to me in any ME game, I got a weird sound stutter followed almost immediately by a BSOD while playing ME 3 today.

Was on Grissom, just after meeting Jack, as Cortez radioed in. Not entirely sure if this is related to the new patch, but having finished the game with no problems prior, I'm not entirely sure what to think? This is the first time I played SP since yesterday's patch.

So, I take it no one else has been getting a BSOD then?

Can you please post your computer's specs- as far as I know some people have gotten BSOD, but there is always an underlying reason.

Well : Asus Laptop A53S

Core i5, 2430, 2.4 GHz.
Geforce GT 540M
8gb RAM
750GB HDD
Win 7 Home Premium.

Real basic stuff, but the thing is I played plenty of ME 3 before this patch, and I never got this. I'm not exactly keen on going back to try right now to see if it's 100% repeatable, partly because it BSOD's along with a terrible sound stutter.

It's possible that your laptop is overheating.

You could grab GPU-Z and RealTemp to monitor the temperatures when you're playing and see what they're sitting around, or OCCT & Furmark to stress-test the thing (though if it's severely overheating, OCCT and FurMark could very well burn the thing out, so be careful if using those).

If the temps are getting high, grabbing a can of compressed air and giving the machine a blast through the exhaust vents mights clear out some dust. I don't know how ASUS's A series is in terms of collecting dust, but I've had to pull apart a G series in the past.

If it's overheating due to dust and you don't address it at some point, the problem will usually get progressively worse. Might be sporadic now & happen over extended play periods, eventually it'll happen frequently over short play periods, etc.

Good luck!

actually this isn't mass effect the Game engine they used i believe one of the unreal series. can sometimes send geforce cards into an infinite loop this than escalates to memory problems in the vram and than finally a bluescreen. if your lucky you will be able to see texture distortions before the crash which will give you a few seconds to alt-ctrl-delete and kill the process.

encountered this bsod in Ut3 mass effect 1-3 as well as global agenda. and the new tribes beta all use the same or similar base engines
